Leadership Spotlight: Chevy81
Chevy has been a part of our listener family for a whopping 7 years, having joined us back in 2015. Chevy recently entered the role of Ambassador representing the Listener Coaching Team and the Care Team, and we are delighted to have them on board.
Why did you nominate Chevy?
“They lead the LCT and CT teams really well, going above and beyond to support the team with resources, check-ins, encouragement, training, and everything else in between supporting the listener community, to deliver quality support to members.”
“Chevy has been supporting the Care Team during this time and they are always so kind and helpful to us. They make us we are doing okay and that they are there for us if we ever need anything. The Care Team wouldn't be the same without them and I am so thankful for all their hard work and dedication!”
A mini-interview with Chevy!
What brought you to 7 Cups?
I was looking for some things to do from home. I think I searched with keywords "chats", "support" or something like those. 7 Cups of Tea was on the top list (it used to be on 7cupsoftea.com ). After I went through the site (trialing as a guest), I got interested and signed up as a listener. So, technically, it's the search engine that brought me to 7 Cups xD
2. What 3 lessons you'll share with any new listener or leader?
Lesson 1: The act of kindness appears in so many various forms and ways. You're being kind by being on 7 Cups and devoting your time to show how much you care for others. You're being kind by looking after for yourself by starting/maintaining some healthy habits. Being kind to yourself also means you're being kind to others.
Lesson 2: Work on one role/project for a certain amount of time (4 weeks at least, 12 weeks at best), to see how much you love and enjoy doing. If you feel that you've got more time and energy to do extras, you can step up on your or explore some other roles/projects. Do what you love and enjoy doing. Most importantly: do it at your own pace, everyone is different and contributes through their own unique skills and abilities --- this is beyond enough, super valued, and greatly appreciated.
Lesson 3: Adjusting to new things can be very exciting and at the same time may feel overwhelming. Take your time to learn as much as you need, ask as many questions as you have, practice as often as you can, and believe in yourself that as you're learning, you're growing; soon you will be blooming and bearing gifts to others (the most precious gift that we all can give is our presence; thus by 'simply' being here, you are offering the most valuable part of you).
3. What are some of your favorite moments in 7 Cups?
My most favorite moments in 7 cups are definitely when my members told me how our chat helped them feel better.
4. Who do you admire the most and why?
My most admiration goes to everyone who's struggling yet keep making time to care and support others. You may have financial struggles, yet you manage to donate. You may experience family disputes, yet you manage to show empathy. You may be stressed over things at work, yet you manage to comfort your co-workers. You may fear of what the future might bring, yet you manage to soothe your children. You may get bad grades at school, yet you manage to keep studying at your best. You may feel so helpless but you refuse to give up and you keep working on what you can. You may have demons in your head consistently telling you horrible things, yet you keep rising above those dark thoughts. I admire your determination, your courage, your kindness, your compassion, and your ability to keep pushing through.
5. Please share what's your best quality according to you and why?
Oof, this one is the toughest lol I'd say that my best quality is being compassionate because it's been challenging for me to dismiss anyone who's seeking help/support.
