Hi All!!

As many of you know, the community team works hard to keep our community safe. You can see what we initiatives we will be working on in Q1 2018 here!

While our volunteer moderators do an awesome job keeping the rooms safe and supportive, we have heard feedback time and again that our chat rooms would benefit from more coverage (especially at all hours of the day). This feedback has come in via the forums, emails and suggestion box. Remember, we brought on Heather and Power as safety coordinators to help with safety issues during hours of the day the community team is not usually online! Despite our best efforts to build a supportive community environment, there is one problem we've not been solve - scheduled moderation shifts and 24/7 coverage.

Therefore, we are excited to share that well be experimenting with a program to bring 24/7 coverage to our chatrooms. This role will differ from our volunteer moderation roles as it will be less focused on community building activities (like discussion hosting and creating a welcoming environment) and more focused on monitoring the safety needs of a given room. Please see the full role write up below.

@Regmo I'm not a part of the admin team, so I wouldn't know for sure - but with the phrase 'your assigned chatrooms' I would suggest that they would only be assigned to a few rather than the full 15. Theres also the option for the individual who is accepted into the role, to get a google extension such as '7 Cups Highlight Extension' on Google Chrome, and have a keyword that it picks up - that isn't commonly used but is a way to get a moderator in the rooms when needed. Such as 'Pineapple' lol, or their username should it be one that's not commonly used - I tend to also have keywords such as 'mod' 'moderator' 'mentor' and then I place a tab on my window of each chatroom I am monitoring and should my name be called it sends me an alert so that I can change tab's and help out. This would of course mean that people would need to know what to say, and they'd still need to be on a window with all the different assigned rooms open, but would ensure they don't miss anything whilst participating in a room not needing a moderatorlaugh Again, not sure if there will be specific features within the role, from the admin team - but this is just something that comes to my mind at the thought of monitoring multiple chatrooms!heart
