I have a question! So obviously for BI, there’s mania, then for BII, there’s hypomania. What EXACTLY is the difference? When has an individual made that jump from hypomania to mania?

@autumnalpaca Hi! I hope you are doing well. Mania and hypomania both can be very intense experiences for an individual going through them. I think it often brings alot of emotions and sometimes guilt when an episode of mania or hypomania ends. From my understanding I think hypomania lasts for a few days and mania lasts for a few weeks but every individual is unique and valid in their experiences ❤️

@autumnalpaca

Hello to you!

7 cups' resources about Bipolar can help you understanding better about it, give it a look on HERE

As a quick answer MANIA is more than just having extra energy to burn. It’s a mood disturbance that makes you abnormally energized, both physically and mentally. Mania can be severe enough to require you to be hospitalized.

HYPOMANIA is a milder form of mania. If you’re experiencing hypomania, your energy level is higher than normal, but it’s not as extreme as in mania. Other people will notice if you have hypomania. It causes problems in your life, but not to the extent that mania can. If you have hypomania, you won’t need to be hospitalized for it. (source Healthline)

Take care!

Would you be able to include Schizoaffective disorder as well? A lot of people are not aware of this condition and it would be helpful if more people knew about it.

Thanks I wasn’t able to see your link until today. You see it is a combination of schizophrenia and a mood disorder mine is bipolar type. It’s a standalone illness. It’s in the middle of the spectrum between schizophrenia and bipolar. Thanks for thinking of me. You’re a kind soul. Many blessings!
