Any association of bipolar and psychosis?

I'm diagnosed with bipolar and bpd mainly, I had a really messed up phase about a year ago, and let me tell you, my behaviour and the decisions I made at that time was something that i would never do and shortly I started having hallucinations and paranoia. I went for a check and I was told that I'm having a psychosis.

I still don't understand how these are related? As a matter of fact were those decisions that I've made have any correlation to it at all? Was is the precedence of it or was I just acting out?

@marbletiles

some of the symptoms do seem to overlap sometimes but it would really be best if you could consult a professional and get your answers from them so thats less mis-guidy half-information and more likely a support channel for you in times of your need 💕

@marbletiles

i don’t know how it all works either.  But I do know that psychosis can happen with bipolar and maybe even with bpd.  It’s good that you are aware of the behaviors in the past that you didn’t like.  Can you tell us more about how you are doing now?

@marbletiles

I’m not sure, but I did feel kind of gaslighted by my most recent psychiatrist, not to instill fear or anything like that. But I feel like the hallucinations give me discomfort and I would check in with the doctor about that one.. I’m guessing which one is in there in your heart for you?

Hello marbletiles,

From my understanding the signs of mania part of bipolar could be rapid speech, restlessness, money spending, increased sex drive and risky decision making.

Pyschosis can be described as delusions and hallucinations.

Please talk to a doctor since I am not a professional 💕

@marbletiles Hey, I'm sorry you're going through this. Psychosis is scary. Sometimes there isn't an answer to this stuff. I have no family history of psychosis but that still didn't stop me from developing it, it just happened. I'm glad you're getting support. It's really important to stick with a medical team especially if your psychosis is long-term. I hope you get better. We're all rooting for you.

Hello. Im bipolar too. I can very well understand how it's been for you. Don't worry they are just phases. Eventually you will pass them. I had psychosis too. I beleived my batchmates were conspiring against me. I thought everyone is discussing about me.
