Something I wish I could say to my parents is ...

Hi everyone! I hope you are well. Today let's reflect on the parental relationships we have. Whether your biological parents or people who served as guardians. There are things we sometimes hold back from to get along, protect peace, or avoid hurting someone.

If you could honestly say something to a parent, what would you say to them?

I would tell them that they don’t always know whats best for me and if they understood that, I wouldnt have to sacrifice what makes me happy for them.

I am not the person that you knew.

@Hope

Well I wish I could tell my mom that I felt useless when she said “Kids just a burden, I feel happy without them” I wish I can tell my dad that I want to talk with him without him screaming and mad at me. I wish I can tell them that I feel lonely and empty since I was a kid and I didn’t remember my childhood memories. I wish I can tell them that I want them to get along not just living in the same house still status as married but like they are nothing.

People thought I’m so lucky my parents still together but in reality it isn’t

I would say: Thank you for being with me although it was for a limited time. They will always lead me, those memories. And, sorry if I couldn't be there for you as much as you expected.

@Hope

if i could say something to my mom, it would be "thank you for always being there for me, no matter what the situation, and thank you for teaching me a way of life that is respectful..."

if i could say something to my dad, it would be "dad, there are some things that i can never take back - things i might have said or did - but i am so glad that we are on the same page today! dad, i love you with all my heart and i appreciate you disciplining me and not other peoples' children!"

@Hope Mom I understand that you are busy you are a businesswoman but aren't I important too? You were never there. Sometimes when I look at some kids with their parents I can't help but feel, 'Why can't I have that?'. I always get straight A's yet you never notice me but whenever brother gets C or D you congratulate him as if he won a gold medal. Why is it always him and not me ???

@Hope

I think I would have told them how bad it felt to never have the attention they gave my brother just because he was the only one diagnosed with a mental illness. I would tell them how it affected me and how I thought the only way to get attention was to be an academic genius. I would tell them thank you too though, because they sacrificed a lot for are family.

@Hope I’m sorry. I’ve caused you a lot of trouble. I do love you. I do thank you. I’m sorry though for not being a great kid. I would have just appreciated it if you listened to me. I have things to say too.

Please just accept me and love me unconditionally the way you do my sisters! My whole life all I’ve wanted was your approval. There is nothing wrong with me. It’s naturally to suffer given the way you treat me now. I am free to mourn this senseless loss and pain.
