@jesusredeemedme2425
I never understood why labeling things seems to help people or trying to define something that IMO is ever changing.
I have to tried to see if works take several test variances of this theory and NOTHING came out as definitive or even helpful. The preference or wants vary and IMO largely dependent on your love interest or whom you would apply this to.
so just a random trend that hopefully will soon be forgotten
Examples
gift giving........ NOPE my partner is horrible at that .....so now even though i enjoy gifts from others.......not from them........... I would prefer they NEVER attempt at buying me things..... and i am a easy person to buy for or please but they MISS the mark every single time trying to go overboard or Assume what they have decided i like....
Acts of service if someone was going to take a chore or task off my to do list to help ... the do it half way or incorrectly giving me more work to re do..... no thanks...
physical touch my partner (of decades ) decided he could massage my back .... I ended up out $160 for doctor bill and missed a day of work .....as he strained my shoulder pushing too hard.
words of affirmation: I lost a significant amount of weight had great feedback from friends / and family even neighbors ... partner told me " too bad it does not come off in certain spots" yes he thought this was a compliment!!!!!!!
Quality time is also off the table as they spend more time talking about doing something then EVER doing it..... ever spend a whole day of "what do you want to do ?" and then being shot down on all ideas. ....yet they have zero ideas except lame ones they once again decided i like ....that i do NOT.
yes........ it may seem as i just have a bad partner.... but none of these thing used to be an issue ...we use to do things and enjoy things not having to ask them NOT to do things but he has made things horrible...........why?
He told me he is trying to follow this trend in magazine to find ......."my love language " lol
@jesusredeemedme2425 is this love language,🤔🤔 like a relationship with a partner?? Is that what It means??
@Tinywhisper11
I think it was originally meant for romantic relationships, but there's now multiple books on the subject... The 5 Love Languages for Teens, kids, friends, etc. :)
https://afreesoulspirit.medium.com/love-languages-friendships-how-to-make-them-work-together-64dc64ffd3a5
A love language is a way of giving and receiving love. There are five main types of love languages:
- Words of Affirmation — People who feel loved when verbal acknowledgments of affection are spoken. For example, saying “You look beautiful today!”
- Acts of Service — People who feel loved when others go out of their way to make tasks easier. For example, making coffee for you as you’re rushing out the door in the mornings.
- Gifts — People who feel loved when they are given visual symbols of love. For example, being gifted flowers on a Friday after a long work week.
- Quality Time — People who feel loved when their partner asks to spend time with them and like to do activities together. For example, watching movies together, or going out on walks.
- Physical Touch — People who feel loved when they receive physical signs of affection. For example, holding hands, giving tight hugs, or playing with their hair.
Words of Affirmation
A lot of my friends have the same love language of “words of affirmation”. In order to satisfy them and make them feel loved in my friendship, I try to always compliment them not just on their appearance, but on how I value them as a friend. I let them know how I’m proud of them for doing well in their studies, or how I really love how they are good listeners. This allows them to feel satisfied and valued in the relationship.
Quality Time
If your friend’s love language is “quality time”, you can acknowledge and value them by spending time with them in person. This can mean going out for breakfast or going out somewhere to hang out. It can even look like movie nights, or reading books together — or even being in the same place at the same time just with each other. Long-distance friendships are trickier, but this could look like having Facetime calls, sending *** videos, or having texting conversations where each person is dedicated and present in the conversation.
Acts of Service
For those friends whose love language is “acts of service”, this could mean you are helping them with tasks. This could look like helping them plan for a trip, or their daily routine. Or fixing them coffee/ making their bed when you wake up from a sleepover, etc. It could even be tidying up the floor after a long night at their house, or helping them set the table for dinner.
Gifts
If your friend’s love language is gifts, this one is pretty self-explanatory. Buying them little keychains when you go on vacation without them, or sending them letters in the mail could be two great low-cost examples of gift-giving. You could even pay for their coffee, or their meal when you go out to eat together. Even something as small as paying for their drink at the bar would be a super nice gesture that would allow them to feel valued and appreciated in your friendship. (Granted, gift giving can be expensive, so some other cheaper ideas could be writing a handmade note about your friendship, or gifting recycled clothing/hand-me-downs too!)
Physical Touch
Last but not least, if your friend's love language is physical touch, you can value them by giving them great hugs, rubbing their back if they need a back massage or even sometimes braiding their hair! Physical touch does not need to be weird in a friendship, and some friends may just love having their hair played with sometimes! Little acts of physical touch will show your friend that you care about them and are in tune with how they feel cared for!
@jesusredeemedme2425 ❤😊❤ ok so in my friend love language I do quality time and words of affirmation. 🤔🤔 sometimes gifts too. Like my birthday is in November, all the old folks here at the nursing home, have me money in cards ❤ but I didn't want to take their money, so not to offend anyone (which I learnt from my friends at 7 cups, not to give the money back) so a few weeks before Xmas I spent the money and a bit extra, and paid for a meal at the restaurant for them, with a special visit from santa. The care home used their mini bus to get them there and back. I didn't go with them, but they had so much fun. While they were gone me and my carers decorated the home all xmassy for when they got back ❤❤ and this Easter I asked my one carer to pick up a pile of chocolate bunnies, which then I gave to the other residents and all staff members, as a thankyou token😁
@Tinywhisper11
You are absolutely the sweetest person ever!!!! You love on all those people who feel neglected and forgotten. Let that thought buoy you in your hard moments... Remember all the lives you change, just by existing <3 <3 <3
@jesusredeemedme2425 ❤❤❤ you are so kind to me ❤❤ you've become someone really special to me ❤ thankyou so much ❤
@jesusredeemedme2425
Mine are probably quality time and physical touch
I took this test I forget what site mine was touch the second was quality time. I sorta knew that would be the case I always wondered if I ever picked the wrong partners. Like was our love languages so different but we made it work anyways? Whatever the cases were I did like the test. Sorta affirmed what I already knew.
@jesusredeemedme2425
Quality time, by far, but physical touch is always nice. 🤭
I need words of affirmation on a fairly regular basis or I start feeling insecure lol.
Acts of service is really nice, it signifies a great teamwork of general good feels.
Gift giving is the iffy one for me. I feel like I don't know how to react to receiving them, and as for giving them... My dad used to practically berate me for the gifts I gave him, and didn't talk to me for two weeks when I didn't give him anything at all. As a consequence, I'm afraid to do it at all.
@Torean
Are we... like... twins???? O.O
@jesusredeemedme2425
I mean, pretty much 😂 but... You had an experience like that too?
@Torean
Those are my top love languages too (but backwards! lol)
Sameeeee I am the most insecure creature on the face of the planet. I just don’t show it here. Yet. lol
I love it when people do things for me <3
Ehhh I’m not a huge fan of getting gifts. TBH people have never really “gotten” me and give me gifts that I end up having to give away, because they’re not my thing. However, I am a major lovebomber (but in the best way!) with giving gifts. I really love giving gifts. Maybe too much. lol
@jesusredeemedme2425
Nice, love language twins 😁😁
Oof, that reminds me... My mom gives me super tacky gifts then asks like 3 months later why I'm not wearing them. 😩 Lol
@Torean
Twinsiessss hehe
That's lame XD
@jesusredeemedme2425
Lol, in case you hadn't noticed, in pretty lame sometimes, so it's all welcome. Just don't call "vacation" a "vacay.". That's, like, what 40+ year old women who work in offices call it. Nothing against those women, but they can keep that word.
@Torean
No I meant your mom giving you tacky gifts lol XD
I think the same about people fresh outta high school, using the latest slang. I can respect slang (and use some of it myself!), but some of it is redonkulous. ;)
(Yes I said that ironically) XD
@jesusredeemedme2425
Lol, yeah tacky gifts are lame too.
Some gen z slang reminds me of the 90's. 🤭 I've at least picked up calling things "lit". I also use "bruh" and "sus" a lot.
@Torean
I call things "fire" and call everyone "bruh" and... That's about it. I'm too old to know these things XD And yet, I'm still young. It's that weird "I have no idea if I'm young or old" stage of life, because I'm squarely in the middle. lol
@jesusredeemedme2425
Lol, same. I keep the inner-child alive and learn enough to stay relevant... Easy to do, because those are fun. Thinking and acting like a take-charge adult is only fun when it makes me look cool. 😂 I really am still a class clown beneath it all.
@Torean
I’m torn between acting like a absolute child and being so depressed that people think I’m mature. XD
I take charge at work and people actually listen to me… It’s crazy O.O lol
I’m the one that makes butt jokes and sneaks up on people to scare them lol! I never really grew up apparently lol
@jesusredeemedme2425
Lol, you sound just like me at work. 😂 Pretty much same thing.
@Torean
We are CHILDREN XD
I’m a little bit of everything too. My order when it comes to my partner is:
Quality Time, Words of Affirmation, Physical Touch, Acts of Service, Gift Giving
I feel uncomfortable when anyone gives me gifts really, except children. Same with acts of service, though I appreciate the spirit by which people offer them. Words of Affirmation sometimes get tricky for me, like they mean less to me if the person’s actions don’t really match their words, which I guess is why quality time is my highest. So sometimes Words gets bumped down the list. But if I can tell the words are genuine, they mean a lot to me. My list is pretty similar for other kinds of relationships, except that physical touch gets moved to last. I really don’t like being touched by other people, even hugs.
@jesusredeemedme2425
quality time 4life
Words of affirmation and physical touch
Words of affirmation for now, physical touch for the future.
(I know you are reading this Gardenia or is it Geranium?).
