Feeling alone during the current regime
Hello -
Any other people here living in the US feeling enraged and alone …? Having trouble staying positive. Today another innocent human was murdered by the regime and it feels like my group of “friends” seem to not care or can go on wi th their lives
I feel you
I’m with you, as the current state of affairs in the United States is objectively an authoritarian dictatorship governed by executive order rather than the legislative process. It’s frustrating to see how our rights are being violated every day, my hope is that the latest incident will help everyone “wake up” to what is going on. Which we can see demonstrated by 2nd amendment supporters noticing that our own president (who is supposedly a 2nd amendment supporter) probably most likely doesn’t know what the 2nd amendment is. I feel sad because for simply wanting people to be treated with respect and dignity somehow makes me un-American. I’m unhappy that people see a flag (a piece of fabric) as something more important than the freedoms it represents. And I’m sad that I don’t have anyone to talk to about this because I will get banned for talking about politics before someone gets banned for calling me un-American.
I hear that, & am not a fan of President Cheeto either...however
- as of now the electoral process is still intact. Though imperfect (as all institutions are), it is still functional at this time.
- Even if Cheeto manages to evade the 2-term limit, he's older now than Biden was when he was in office. Cheeto will not live forever.
- While we aren't in great shape, the US is still far from the totalitarian dictatorship that left/far-left activists & commenters claim. If that weren't true, neither you nor any other critic could post your criticisms online--or engage in protests, currently ongoing--without being arrested or seized en masse & jailed...or "disappeared". Cheeto's opposition is still alive & kicking; its numbers have grown & include conservative/right-leaning figures now. And finally,
- Unless I miss my guess, there's a rule against political posts in the forums. Maybe a mod can clarify whether this is so & why?
@slowdecline48 I've stepped away from modding and I don't want to speak for the current team. My general understanding is that there's no specific guideline regarding politics and the forums. There are guidelines about being supportive and maintaining a therapeutic environment. Seeking support is alright. Pushing one's opinion onto others or debating politics, even if being done respectfully isn't really fitting with 7 cups values and the environment we (meaning the overall community) try to create. There's better spots for respectful debates than a mental health space.
@slowdecline48 With all due respect, I disagree with #3 based on my lived experience. My sister is a CBP agent, and the FBI spent half an hour beating on my front door on the day of the October 2025 No Kings rally.
@slowdecline48 Sorry! I just realized I totally blanked on this earlier when replying https://www.7cups.com/forum/siteupdates/General_2444/AForumGuidetoDiscussingGlobalEvents_365132/
Yeah, it's very concerning.
I've seen a bit of rhetoric with some of the comments about Canada that an invasion could never happen. We're too much alike - looks, language, culture, etc. When I see what some of Americans are doing to each other and the high recruitment numbers it's more questionable though. If that's how you can treat your own ... smh.
For now, things are fairly safe here and I am concerned for the neighbours to the south. Hopefully empathy, compassion, love and reason will win out.
I am terrified about these times during the current presidency so you're not alone. I hate all these deaths that the current president and ICE is doing. Just be careful during these times and look out for yourself and the people you care about.
As for your friends maybe they're not in the know because they don't go on the news or social media that much or they just have thicker skin. Also I don't mean that in a bad way for you not having thicker skin I am a very sensitive person too.
@determinedOcean2854 I feel anxious and scared sometimes.
