Holidays Support Thread - You're Not Alone
Hi, everyone!

The holiday season is often associated with joy and cheer, but for many people, it can be a difficult and lonely time. For those who have lost loved ones, the holidays can be a reminder of their absence. For those who are struggling financially, the holidays can be a source of stress and anxiety. For those who are facing health issues, the holidays can be a reminder of their physical and mental struggles.
No matter what the situation, the holidays can be a difficult time for many people. The pressure to be happy and festive can be overwhelming and can lead to feelings of guilt and sadness. Even if you’re surrounded by family and friends, it can still be hard to find joy in the season. It’s important to remember that it’s okay to not be merry and bright during the holidays.
If there is anything on your mind please do not hesitate to reach out to us here or in any way you may feel comfortable during the holidays.
I have a strong distaste for all holiday’s and celebrations. I don’t know why, but maybe it’s deeply rooted in some form of jealousy…?? I have no friends or family ( in the real world) .
that combined with my social anxiety and people issues and everything else, I have never felt any type of belonging at these celebrations or anywhere else. So I am jealous of those that have families and friends that they love and who love them. These events are just a bright neon reminder of how alone I actually am. Which is why I take off work between Christmas and New Years every year. The less I have to witness those things the better.
@CheeryMango Thank you for sharing this wonderful post! I think the holidays can be hard, no matter how life is going. Like you said, there's always this pressure and with that pressure, comes the opportunity to think too much and I am guilty of this myself. I always wish things could just be a little different, but that's okay! It's important to try and practice gratitude, be kind to yourself, and try to enjoy what's going on in the moment! 🌲
@fruityPond7887 *hugs* ❤ we got this, letting one thought to pass at a time. Yes to being kind to self, *you* deserve it! ❤
@Sunisshiningandsoareyou Thank you, my sweet Sun friend! 💛💛
I was diagnosed with epilepsy around this time a few years ago, and it hurts to think of all the ways it changed me- my mom used to take me on drives back when we lived in Chicago, and we would go see all the Christmas lights and decorations- now I can't do that because flashing lights trigger seizures for me. I also couldn't continue playing volleyball as the doctor deemed me unfit to do that due to my epilepsy. I like to say my epilepsy doesn't define me- but around this time it feels like it does.
Yup YOU ARE NEVER ALONE... IF YOU ARE THERE FOR YOURSELF...!!!
So don't let anyone or anything dim your enthusiasm or radiance.
Be there for yourself and enjoy your holidays to the fullest.
Good tidings to everyone.
I'm dreading the holidays trying to tell myself it's just another day so it's not so hard to know ur going to be sitting alone and no one cares
- @boop86 hope you are ok on Holiday...:)
@CheeryMango
wow, this statement "You Are Never Alone", i very much believe in these words!
this is why the 7 Cups community is special worldwide, because we as Cupsters can help each other in times of concern and uncertainty.
yes, if we are going through difficult times, so are other people, and i love mentioning this to members that i chat with!
@CheeryMango
i don't feel confortable with holydays because I have no job, my life is far away from what I wished to be, and parties were never the same since my dad passed away, family split up and over the years I just felt more and more lonely... I hope I will have things to truly celebrate next year, I think I must reflect what victories I wanna seriously go after next year (besides the job).
@CheeryMango I used to love most holidays when i was younger, but so much has changed and being around family is challenging now. I am not close with any of my family the way i used too be. I try to always be bright about things and i try to make things better for the people around me, but for some reason i have lost all the energy to try to even pretend to be happy and its even more hard pretending there is no issues in my family. I know that christmas is not just about the gifts and that its about being family and many more things but its very hard to enjoy it when my family has a lot of messed up things going on. I will not let issues ruin christmas for me or my family but i do know it just wont be the same.
@CheeryMango

@CheeryMango thank you for this. One thing I have noticed is that when I see a lot of holiday notifications pop up here, it really triggers me. I have an incredibly hard time during the holidays and struggle with depression, etc. I am wondering if there is a way to reduce the number of holiday notifications that go out to everyone, or if people might have a way to not get them. It might seem small, but for me, just seeing the mention of something can trigger a downward mood or sad memories.
Thank you for all you do here and to 7 Cups in general for the support. This is a wonderful place.
@Helper125 I hear you and can relate 100%.
@Better2call I'm sorry that you can relate. 😔💚That is one of my concerns, that this might be upsetting to a lot of people, to get so many notifications. I know that the entire group of people who work so hard here only have support in mind, so I'm wondering if I can help come up with a solution for next year. Thank you so much for your support. I really appreciate your kindness. 💚
