Journaling
I used to pen down my thoughts a lot before, like constantly writing everyday. And then somehow I lost the habit of journaling. Lately it feels like when I write about any scenarios that upset me it feels like I am reliving that moment and I hate it.
Has anybody ever felt like that? Or is it just me?

I'm a little like that with scrapbooking. I love the idea, but seeing all my old baby/kid pictures brings up bad memories and feelings, so I can't scrapbook :(
@jesusredeemedme2425 💜
I understand:( Have you got back to doing that?
No…. I wish I could. I wish I didn’t have yucky feelings doing it :(
Same here.most times I refuse to journal.
@limegreenHuman9402 when I journal, I actually do it daily, to take the intensity out of what I'm feeling. But each day, I burn the entry because what works for me, is letting it go once I've processed it because I dont like going over it again and again, for me personally that's like picking constantly at a scab that has already healed and trying to reopen it 💙
I can relate to that...
@limegreenHuman9402 Not just you. Happens to me too. Tells me I still have open wounds to triage and heal. Sucks...but I re-frame to "At least I can properly heal this finally." Have you tried art, playing an instrument, dance, some other way of expressing yourself without words? Switch things up a bit?
I'm so busy with studies and my work I don't get time at all:(
@limegreenHuman9402 I have been like this for quite some time.. Years ago I created what I called “Pieces” and it was in the format of Shakesphere but it dealt with issues. I had a different style than many but it was unique. eventually I Don’t Know I ended up quitting it. At first getting feelings and views out was like releasing a big burden off my shoulders but turned into reminders of too many memories I rather forget. Although I have not retuened to that format although I would love to pick it back up its like I am frozen and being held back. However recently someone has been coaxing me to journal. At first I rebelled it just wasnt something I wanted but over time although I don’t journal on a daily basis I am getting back in the habit of writing. Hopefully it will lead me back to writing as I use to.
Do you have examples you can share? <3
@limegreenHuman9402 Journaling can be really difficult sometimes when I'm trying to work out specific issues. I make sure to journal about other topics too, which honestly includes stuff like painting and drawing. I think this can help me balance my thoughts as well as my emotions.
@limegreenHuman9402 for me it feels guilty cause i know i'm fine enough more than so many peoples..
and it feels as if I'm making adrama out of it.
Yup, I stopped Journaling regularly years ago because I realized I was mainly writing down stuff that makes me feel bad. There were a few unauthorized viewings of it as well. Thinking of even burning my old ones because of this.
@funnyOak2320 have you tried digital journaling?
@limegreenHuman9402
If you feel journaling is yielding diminishing rewards and leading you to re-experience trauma rather than resolve it, it's probably a sign that it's time to look to someone else for support. In collaborative reflection lies healing.
@cyanessence
Just make sure you are doing it with honesty and with honest people.
That's the most difficult thing....finding honest people
@limegreenHuman9402
I found this place in particular to be overflowing with honest people.
Writing is such a helpful tool I agree! Even ripping up pages when writing things that upset you can provide relief
