"One thing I've been afraid to share, but feel safe sharing here is..."

We know that 7 Cups is a very unique and special place where many find a sense of safety and understanding. Our empathy-and-inclusivity-powered community encourages us to be our whole selves, including the parts you feel are broken.
It's often in sharing those very parts, the thoughts, feelings, and experiences we've held close out of fear of judgment or vulnerability, that the most powerful moments arise.
I'd like to remind us how deeply connected we are with a prompt! Members, if you're comfortable sharing, please allow us the privilege of knowing a little more about your journey:
"One thing I've been afraid to share, but feel safe sharing here is..."
One thing I’ve been afraid to share, but feel safe sharing here is… I found out my husband lied to me about his cheating incident 1 month after we got married and I’ve been hating myself and him since. It’s tearing me into pieces inside.
That I have had my consent violated at more than one ocassion ..
And it makes me feel bad ...why did it happen to me ? Is there something wrong with me? Is the world doomed? Are all men that way? Does love even exist or is it all sex offense?
Questions like these are normal to my mind now. I have very little hope of a good healthy relationship... and that's really sad because I used to be full of hope about it once...before they broke me.
I absolutely feel this.
One thing I've been afraid to share, but feel safe sharing here is my entire truth. I feel like I can't share the full extent or even a decent chunk of the issues that I'm dealing with between myself and my husband with friends or family because I don't want anyone to see him in a different light. I'm not saying i don't have my faults, we all do, no one is perfect, and I'm not saying i haven't caused or contributed to some of the issues, but I want to protect my husbands image, even if it means putting on an act around the people we know.
@Heather225
1. Chilhod trauma with my mom shaped how I am behaving now. What she did was common where i grew up, but it had some much strain over my mind that I got emotionally overwhelmed. She's not aware of what I experienced and talked to me as if we have a normal parent-child relationship, I don't want her to feel bad about herself and decided not to tell her anything
2. I am secretly really tired of my job, so demanding and the boss is worse than useless. I felt drained and burned out after working in this field for so far, but I have to endure this because it is my dream. I really don't want to give up on it.
I feel irrelevant. I'm just here to fill a void in other people's lives. I help everyone else pick up the pieces of their lives when they fall apart but when I need someone I end up dealing with and going through things alone.
@mytwistedsoul
I understand that so completely! I was raised to believe that I was born specifically to be a lackey of sorts to my family. Now, even at my age, I still feel as if I have to "be there" for others and "provide" for their every need, but that I have no right to have needs of my own. Hang in there!

@HiddenSwan25 Thank you 💜 I'm sorry you deal with this too. It's hard to say no. There always seems to be some harsh consequences for saying no and the guilt that comes afterwards is horrible
We love you, Twistie <3
@jesusredeemedme2425 Aww Thank you ❤️ Love you all too! 😊
@Heather225 my complete lack of desire to keep going
I feel that. You are loved and you matter <3
One thing I’ve been afraid to share, but feel safe sharing here is ..
I was in a domestic violence situation for a while. I hate to say it because I broke up with my ex 2 months ago but we still kept in contact till 2 days ago and I hate to admit that I love him and miss him and would want him back in my life.
Also I love that my mom is supportive and grateful that I have the opportunity to focus on my mental health without financial worries. I feel bad for not contributing but I’m trying to ease my way back into society.
She doesn’t know I went through physical abuse with my ex and I haven’t told my therapist either. I don’t think I’ve processed it and I’m afraid to face it? That I actually went through that? I don’t know because I act like it never happened to me but it did.
@Priscella
What kind of physical assault do you mean? Harassment, beating... You must first determine what it was, then talk about the situation comfortably. If you cannot determine, tell the therapist the situation and tell her what kind of abuse it was. If there were several situations, tell her what hurts you and appears in your memory now and triggers your feelings. Only determining the type of abuse is comforting, and understanding it will come with time.
@Heather225 I don't want to live at home anymore, I feel nothing but depression and dread
It took being on this earth for over 40 years to be diagnosed with ADHD, MDD and Bipolar disorder 2. Could have used that information a long time ago. 😒
What’s MDD?
Major Depressive Disorder. Pretty much hangs out with Bipolar 2 like two college buddies lol.
@Heather225
