The situation of not being able to express how you feel program day 2
📅 Day 2: The Physical Echo (Tracking Body Sensations)
Yesterday, we learned about Alexithymia and how the brain struggles to name emotions. Today, we are going to learn how to bypass the brain entirely and look at the first place emotions actually show up: your body.
Before an emotion becomes a thought, it is a physical reaction. Emotions release chemicals into our bloodstream that change our heart rate, breathing, and muscle tension. If you cannot find the word for how you feel, you can almost always find the sensation.
• Anger often feels like heat in the face, clenched fists, or a racing heart.
• Anxiety/Fear often feels like a fluttering or knot in the stomach, shallow breathing, or cold hands.
• Sadness often feels like a heavy weight on the chest, a lump in the throat, or a general lack of energy.
By learning to read your body, you are reading the "preview" of your emotions.
🔍 Deep Dive Explanation
When we suppress our emotions because we can't express them, they don't just vanish. They get trapped in our muscles and nervous system. This is why people who struggle to express themselves often suffer from chronic headaches, jaw pain (from clenching), or digestive issues. Tuning into your body isn't just about emotional awareness—it is about physical healing.
❓ Reflection Questions for the Comments
• Think about the last time you felt overwhelmed. Where in your body did you feel it the most?
• Let's practice right now: Close your eyes for a moment. Is there any tightness, heat, or heaviness in your body right now? Describe it.

Last time I felt overwhelmed..I felt like a heavy weight on my chest and a wierd feeling in my stomach
Yeaah there is tightness in my chest.. idk how to describe it.. it just feels like there is something so heavy thereee
@bobaa13
Te heavy weight on your chest and the knot on your stomach are so understandable
I get how you feel about not being able to explain the heaviness on your chest but trust me we all get it because we all have felt it before. It feels as if you csnnot take a breath as if something is weighting you down. I get it. We ll talk again tomorrow at day 3 of the program💚
In my throat and like lower lungs, diaphragm region. It was like inhaling air but empty space is all I'd breath in. Or like the air ways have holes or have collapsed so whatever air I take in leaks out.
Right now I feel it in my chest and a lot in my shoulder and neck areas. My torso feels the heat. Like I'm hot all of a sudden. Maybe it could be because I just talked to my bsf and heard her applying to college while I'm still figuring stuff out and navigating through other issues? I don't know...
It's has happened so many times that even recalling it is so easy. And when it happens I can feel the exact moment when it starts but I never know that what's it that starts.
I think just a little tension throughout my body. When it's serious, it likes to start from the top down, unless it's really bad and starts in my gut. It used to all be in my gut, and I seem to have less stomach issues lately than I used to.
@cheerfulKiwi1776
The last time I felt overhwlmed I think I felt it in my chest most. I almost always feel like my chest is tight when I feel overwhelmed, or that's where it usually starts anyways.
In my body, right now there is like a bit of a heaviness I guess.
In my chest/heart the most noticeable probably though the nausea feeling was also quite present not sure what was more
And my head like migraine like pounding feelings behind my eye and I suppose some tightness or stiffness in my chest and a bit into my shoulders neck area at the moment
I think this month has been overwhelming for me there were many days where I felt so many things i used to feel it mostly in my chest and then stomach
There's tightness near my heart area and little heaviness as well. I feel i want it to relax but it's so hard for my body to release it and just feel normal
Thanks, looking forward for day 3! ^_^
