Hello all!

Last week we discussed: Can you list five things you love about yourself? If you haven't checked yet, please click here to add your thoughts.

This week's prompt-  What did bring you to the 7Cups Community? How did 7Cups shape your experiences so far?

Today, I want us to reflect on how we joined 7Cups and how our experiences evolved here. I look forward to listening and discussing all thoughts, and experiences with you.

Also, I invite all to help me with creating these weekly prompt discussions so that we all can come together and discuss something related to general support every week. If you any interested in helping me out, please share your interest through this form and  I will reach out to you to guide and support you in creating the next discussion.

Join us in the 24/7 General Support Group Chat to share and support each other.

@ASilentObserver I come here because there's pretty much agressively limited options of where to go and life and society doesn't care what you do or how much pain you're in so at least it's some way to try listen or host and make this unrelenting burden of life a little more tolerable and make life a more kind and equitable and healthy place but it's very futile.

@communicativePond1728 It feels like you have been through a lot and found it challenging to find support elsewhere. What has your experience been like with limited options? Please know you have all of us here with you

I was brought to 7cups because back in college I was having a very bad relapse with depression. Visiting the depression forum here seemed to help a lot at the time.

Now that my depression is no longer serious, I still like going and chatting in the forums from time to time, and have participated in guided discussions which were beneficial.

Nevertheless, it has also been unhelpful to me at times, which is why I keep my time here to a limited amount.

@cafedaydreams It is nice to hear that you found 7 Cups supportive during a difficult time in your past and that you are mindful of setting boundaries now to maintain balance. What aspects made it unhelpful for you?

@ASilentObserver

I've had bad experiences with users in the group chats, so I avoid that place at all costs now (although I did make an exception for one of those Huddle sessions once).

And it's been just the fact that nothing anyone said was making me feel any better. There was a lot of platitude talking and not enough people actually wanting to connect with me/identify with my struggles. They would just talk at me with therapy speech and be done with it.

Not meaning to sound harsh or anything. I'm sure people on here were just trying to help and be kind. I guess I just needed something different at that time.

@cafedaydreams It feels like you have had some negative experiences with support groups that have left you hesitant to open up. It makes sense that you wanted to find something that truly helped you feel heard and understood. What did you think about the platitudes?

@ASilentObserver I always loved the feeling of being able to listen to others and help them. I wasn't able to do that since the pandemic, and only recently have I discovered 7Cups. It's nice to be able to connect and help people like this :)

@Whelve1 It sounds like you've found some joy in helping others through listening, even during challenging times. How has it felt to reconnect with that passion through 7 Cups?
