@ScrabbleBrain

It's a street food. It's crunchy on the outside filled with potatoes and tamarind juice. You can look it up in Google. It is delicious

@Leesahhhhh that sounds fun, I know pakoras have a thousand ingredients, potatoes, spinach, coriander.

Always interesting to find other foods :) Thank you for explaining it.

You are wlc. What's your favorite food?

21 replies
User Profile: ScrabbleBrain
ScrabbleBrain May 18th

@Leesahhhhh Giggles, I have too many honestly. I could talk endlessly about food, all day every day.

It's really mood dependent because my tastebuds keep changing. I put anything into sandwiches. Egg rotis, slathered in butter is hard to beat for the mornings.

Some kinda pasta dish, it used to be lasagne, now it's probably macaroni and cheese.

I have the biggest sweet tooth, so cakes would light me up.

How about you? Anything you have to have regularly?

@ScrabbleBrainI

I also have a bit of sweet tooth haha,  I need something sweet regularly or I will burst like chocolate or ice cream. My mom makes the best chicken curry so I crave that too.

Chicken curry or something simple like fried rice.

What about fast food?

@ScrabbleBrain

Hmm.. I have too many favorites😭 like chips the spicer the better, chocolates especially dark chocolates. And I really love pickles if I am home and I need a quick snack. My mom makes the best pickles. I also live chocolate cookies or brownies. Ohh ice cream if I am craving a quick snack but not anything spicy. I love chocolate ice cream with chocolate cookies.

What about you? What's your favorite ice cream flavor? What's your opinion on mint?

11 replies
User Profile: ScrabbleBrain
ScrabbleBrain May 20th

@Leesahhhhh lol, you have great taste, dark chocolate with nuts is great as long as it's not too bitter.

I like mint with food, not so much drink, so not the biggest icecream fan, but actually mint cornettos are a weakness.

Have you ever tried After Eight fondant chocolates? simply amazing. Probably snack wise, crisps or veggies with a dip, chocolate pretzels are good

@ScrabbleBrain

No, I never tried that. But I agree pretzel are indeed good. There is something called honey pretzels that I like very much. Have you ever tried that?

Also do you like sour things? I love drinking spicy tamarind whenever I have a cold.

@Leesahhhhh I think I tried cinnamon pretzels but wasn't a fan. Just chocolate or plain mildly salted for me. I doubt I would like honey, I'm fussy ha.

I don't mind sweet and savoury or savoury on its own, nuts or olives or those stuffed peppers with cream cheese is really good

@ScrabbleBrain

I agree 💯. Nuts and olives are good. Have you ever tried olive pickles? My mom makes them around autumn. It's tastes so good. Nuts are also good, I keep a box of them by my study tables haha, Incase I get hungry late at night.

What's your favorite late night snack like when you are studying or something?

7 replies
User Profile: ScrabbleBrain
ScrabbleBrain May 22nd

@Leesahhhhh wow olive pickles, that is a new one. Like gherkin/olive hybrid? Pickles for me sometimes taste too tangy to be enjoyable.

Thankfully long past studying and for me, late night eating/drinking, I can't do it. It doesn't settle my tummy.

Hmm back in the day..... Oh popcorn was fun, my friend got me into sweet and salty mix and I didn't think I would like it, but it's nice :) Before that it was buttered toffee..

@ScrabbleBrain

I tried sweet ones before, I also didn't like it haha. I actually never liked popcorns, it's too dull for my taste. Though I have good memories with it haha.

What about drinks? I am quit drinking coffee few days ago because I was becoming too depended on it haha. I am craving it like crazy.

User Profile: ScrabbleBrain
ScrabbleBrain May 22nd

@Leesahhhhh Funny you should say that, I gave up on popcorn too. Coffee I haven't drunk, since maybe I was teenager?

I was trying to think of things I could live without, coffee mean't milk, sugar and biscuits, so gave it up, switched to water.

What is your new alternative? For me it's water at home, and outdoors fruit juice, berries or citrus, huge fan.

It is tough at first and then you get used to it. Gosh the smell of coffee still makes me smile though :)

Soft drinks like coke makes me sleepy haha. Do you like soft drinks?

@Leesahhhhh Nice, lemonade was probably my favourite and vimto but now just plain water. We are having a lil heatwave here, I can't stop drinking. I can't wait for a rainstorm :)

Are you a biscuit fan?

@ScrabbleBrain

Omg same, here is a heatwave too.

Yea I am a biscuit fan. Chocolate biscuits or cookies are my favorite. There is oat biscuits, I love that too. What about you?

What's type of cookies or biscuits do you think goes best with milk?

@Leesahhhhh We are promised rain this week at long last so relieved :) Your selections are nice, nutty cookies are good hazelnut or pistachio or just plain peanuts.

I don't milk, when I was drinking coffee, hobnobs or choccy digestives were a favourite, my coffee was always a biscuity mess from the dunkages.

Have you tried slush puppies? Crushed iced with a fruity flavoured sugary syrup, so refreshing, I used to swim and grab one, blueberry with a blue tongue was my favourite, ha, fun

Panipuri 😋

@trueconfidant123 Oh so smart, thank you. The funny thing is, there are so many dual names for things, I struggle to even explain it.

Puris I think we thought of as a flatbread, kinda white, and thin. I thought it was Chinese pancakes, same look, different flavour though.

Then there is dhal puri, another type of filled flatbread, more yellow lol

And more still there is bakes, which is yellow triangular, but really thick.

I miss homemade dhal, that's another peppery thing I don't mind :)

8 replies

@ScrabbleBrain

I love daal, good source of protein. But daal filled puri, not so much. Pani Puri has several local names phuchka and golgappa for example.

User Profile: ScrabbleBrain
ScrabbleBrain May 28th

@trueconfidant123 Do you drink your dhal or have it like a side dish? Most of the time, we seemed to drink it like lumpy soup. I preferred it ground fine, lil pepper kicks and kinda burning your mouth because it tasted better, piping hot

6 replies

@ScrabbleBrain

Both ways. I also like to add jaggery to my dal. Love the hint of sweet.

5 replies
User Profile: ScrabbleBrain
ScrabbleBrain May 29th

@trueconfidant123 What's jaggery? I'm learning so much 😁 Dhal is one of the few things I like purely savoury, that strong jolt of savouryness. Never heard of it being sweet :)

4 replies

@ScrabbleBrain

Jaggery or Gur is unrefined coarse brown sugar made from sugar cane juice or palm sap. My mom also adds powdered jaggery to my coffee. It's slightly healthier than refined sugar. I like the sweet dal better than peppery one.

1 reply
User Profile: ScrabbleBrain
ScrabbleBrain May 28th

@trueconfidant123 This could get controversial..... We might be on opposing sides, this could fracture things.... But here goes...

Speaking from the heart, I've tried the chicken ones in supermarkets, not bad, but basic. The veggy ones were a treat, I don't even like spice that much..

But it has so many ingredients, seasonings, flavours, freshness, those are/will always be my favourite.

What's yours?  *Deep breath* I can handle it..... *perspires, pacing back and forth nervously*

It's the yummiest sauce ever! They serve it at the Japanese restaurants here for dipping your shrimp in, but it's good on chicken, on rice and veggies, it's just good :) Here's a recipe. Just whisk it all together and enjoy on some stuff!
