idk why i feel this way.

sometimes i feel like i want to deactivate my social media

because it made me feel so many mixed emotions. maybe i should really just deactivate it then disappear from my online friends. they wont even miss me :|

omg its just January 2025 and i already feel this bad.

i want them to see me happy before leaving but

it's so difficult.

@Heather225 yes but then when i feel like they're going to leave, i suddenly feel sad again. i knew it's very rare for a connection to last, especially when it's online connection. i shouldn't hope too much, since real friendships also end :[

@hopefulencounter

Are you not able to get their number or a way to contact your friends outside of social media?

@SilentSerenityy actually yes I have their number, but now they rarely talk to me even after they have my number so.. I guess they're truly only social media friends 😅

Your presence matters both online and in real life.

Instead of deactivating, what if you created boundaries that make social media a healthier space for you?

Maybe that means following only accounts that uplift you, taking breaks when needed, or focusing on real-life connections that bring you joy.

What do you think would help you feel more at peace? ð«¶

@ListeningSister Hello thanks for replying to my post. Well yes I want to make social media healthier for me so I deactivated my old accounts then create a new one where I only follow account that post inspirational and motivational quotes.. I'm still not sure I want to come back or not to my old account, because that site only allow temporary deactivation., but if until 30 days I'm still not back to that old account then it will be gone forever.  I think avoiding social media connections  and listening to positive affirmations will bring me peace 😄

@hopefulencounter a lot of what you see on social media is an optical illusion. Most people only show the good not the bad, don't let it get you down.

@Niceguyjack thank you for telling me this! This is something I really need to hear 🥲. I try so hard to not let it upset me because I knew social media fame isn't real and.. it's addicting and won't be good in the long run

@hopefulencounter  I don't have good advice for this.  In my experience social media can make some people feel awful.  Personally that is the way it is for me.  I haven't been to F.B. since 2010.  I remember feeling depressed by it all the time.  I remember doing everything I could to fit in... Finally the site just got rid of me.

FB destroyed me. Someone got into it and added all kinds of mischief. That was about when I left also.

@carefulPlace4854 F.B. is big and just about everyone is on it.  That is why hackers try to get into it.  There is private information on F.B. and they can use.  But F.B. it's self collects more information than it should.  A lot of people don't realize it or don't care but F.B.'s system is bad at the core.  It exists by taking advantage for the human need for connection and exploits your private data.  People are often shocked at how much information that F.B.  has on them, cause they don't remember giving it all that to them.  But F.B. gets it by following you around the internet collecting your stuff as you do things for your life.

@tryingtosurvive2024 I see, we're in this together..  social media can be fun at first but then it becomes draining.. I do believe all people are good it's just thatt maybe because they feel not connected with me then they ignore me. Which leads to me overthinking my friendships with them. I already deactivated my accounts, that site only allow temporary deactivation. But if I don't go back online on those accounts before 30 days then my account will be gone from that site forever. Thank you for replying to my post, I really appreciate your opinion!🩷

aww that's so relatable for me too though

sometimes I just want to alienate and distance myself from people/everyone because I feel drained by talking to them or I feel like they don't care about me/wouldn't realise I was missing D:

feeling mixed emotions is so real T-T

sometimes people don't find the right friends, i hope you find people you truly connect and relate to !! all the best

@happinesstojoy Riight? it's so draining, like why can't they treat me like I treat them? I want to connect with them but most of the time they ignored me.. then I overthink and doubt my friendships with them 😩..

Thank you for replying to my post! I really appreciate your response! I wish the best for us too 🫶😆. 2025 will be kinder to us

@hopefulencounter @hopefulencounter yess so real, hoping the best for 2025 loll, Im always overthinking and doubting myself a lot too, I guess what helps is to be more confident in your strengths but also trying to improve your weaknesses, at least that's what helped me!! and I'm always looking for people I can just genuinely connect with, so that's such a normal and valid thing to want !!!

@amusingWest5360 that feeling of "no one cares" really annoying 🥲. Like I don't know if that's the truth or not but their constant ignorance made me think that's really how it is 😭. I already temporarily deactivated my accounts,, hoping that maybe they'll feel my absence, not good but I have to do it 😅. Maybe one day I will come back to that account or maybe not..

Thank you for replying!🩷🫶

My friend, world was already as bad as it was... On the brink of its social downfall... Social media just helped making that further step forward to it!!!!!

Do what you feel like listening to your inner self try not to second guess that choice... We're all already in a chase of the wild goose doubting our thoughts and choices twice or thrice so try to avoid it best you can...

Friendly pats from me mate!!

@STheBlue Hi thanks for listening to my story. For now I have choose to disappear from social media friends .. And I feel so much better. It's kinda lonely, but peaceful. I start to not care if I missed online things. I used to be so FOMO (fear of missing out), I was online 24/7.  I think I'm getting better ☺️. I miss my friends, I still think of them sometimes. But my friendship with them is so draining, I feel like fighting for their attention all the time then mostly got ignored.. 😟

Thank you for replying!!

I just wanted to add this: if you EVER think of going back online with social media stuff - depending on how things turn out for you in the future - think it through as hard as possible...

I mean setting boundaries both to yourself and the others... 24/7 isn't healthy - as generally accepted (not being judgemental though, pls don't get me wrong)

I have a very similar situation with my wife being massively dependent on social media and internet (pretty much an addict) and I am actively seeking ways to help her spin out of it and live in the real world...

I also have social media accounts myself and I very often put logic over ending up overwhelmed by the online experience... In reality those infernal things work with algorithms and can get you ridiculously easy hooked up to them thus altering your mindset and changing your character in the long run...

So stay healthy, stay true and thank yourself for eventually having taken care of you!

Friendly regards,

S

@STheBlue I agree setting boundaries aren't healthy, worrying about what they think of me isn't healthy as well.... when they don't reply to me, I feel like I've said something wrong.. 🙁 I want to be happy and have healthy mental health so I leave. Social media can be so addicting, sometimes there's drama on it :[] and I hate dramas 😩.  My online friends made me feel like a weirdo, were they that busy that they can't reply to me?

Thank you so much for sharing your opinion on this matter, I wish the best for you!

It is all about choices mate! Look, I don't know how often you would send to them or how often they would reply, BUT, if you felt it wasn't a healthy situation you were in then it wasn't... Simple as that... You made your choice thinking it through and assessing ANY repercussions from it and you just move on having made a choice for yourself and not for the others... You should be the first to take care of yourself after all... Not anyone else... So if I daresay I feel happy for you and I really hope it works for you the way you hope it to!!

Cheers!
