Grudges: When is it time to let go of a grudge?

A grudge is "a persistent feeling of ill will or resentment resulting from a past insult or injury." Often we hold on to negative feelings or beliefs about people or specific situations because they caused us pain. Reflecting on these grudges & possibly opening ourselves up to release them can be helpful.

In this thread, share your stories about holding grudges. What have you learned? Have you let go of a grudge? What did that feel like?

General thoughts about grudges are also welcome!

It's time when you, can forgive then and the sooner the better, grudges only hurt the person holding them, and make their lives miserable

Wow, all the comments here and I come along two years later. I was hurt by many in my 40 years here, and all were forgiven but one, and this grudge is 7 years old. It is toward my ex, younger daughter's "dad". More like sperm donor.

@FaithfulPrune9638 I can relate Faithful. We deserve peace and closure. Some putting it behind us and striving for a better tomorrow. They can't hurt you anymore when you decide to release them into Gods hands to do with as His will be done. They are not thinking about their actions toward anyone. The wound needs to be lanced and closed. Don't go into it again cause it's like picking a bloody scab. We were young and inexperienced and some ppl just don't deserve to be out and about causing trouble. Live and Learn💛 What a painful lesson it is..

If resentment builds into grudge than I am guilty. Having a 25 year resentment for spouse's substance abuse. OMG, we should have really addressed this head on years ago. The negative impact on my mental health has been bucketloads.
