Paper Plate someone (outside 7cups)
While its great to appreciate our friends on 7cups Id really like to know about who people value highly in their non-digital lives.
I love the idea of Paper Plates nominations and Ive submitted mine. Im going to plagiarise the idea (hope I'm forgiven) and ask in this thread for nominating a title for someone from their real lives.
Name one relation (family, friend, teacher, etc) whom you respect/ cherish/ celebrate and share your reason for it. They could also be someone who has passed away but left an impact on your heart.
Make a creative title for them
Give 5 or more reasons why they are honored by the title youve chosen
Sorry you won't get any paper plates - just this thread where I look forward to learning about you . ♥️♥️♥️
----------------------
My nomination:
My mother
Most Unwavering Devotion
Reasons: 1. She has been my hug buddy since I was a child 2. She didn't stop loving me with my mistakes - unconditional love 3. She saved my life (long story) 4. She may not always have the best parenting skills - we have had issues with control - but her intentions are crystal clear to all. She would drive herself mad in her unwavering devotion to her children. 5. I know her prayers are bringing me good 6. She forgave me for my behavior that wasn't right at times. Forgave me in a second. I dont know how she has such big of a heart. 7. She is my role model on working for the institute of family even when there are endless hardships 8. She did this all in spite of not having long term parental support - her mother died when she was a teen.
There are probably a hundred other reasons that Id find but this space is limited and I want to respect time of those reading it. I just know God chose her to be my mother because she was the only one best for the job. She is not my family by genetic connection alone, she is family by spiritual connection.

I love and adore the idea, dear. It’s just hard for me to choose among my favorite people. I’m going to choose two people—I’ll grant this privilege to both of them.
1 - My Mother
Title: The first light of an invincible heart.
Reasons:
1st: Clearly, despite my difficulty in seeing it from an early age, she was the first to give me that unconditional love a mother is meant to give her child. It hurts her to say “No” to me; it hurts her to see me suffer.
2nd: While she’s not someone who can freely express her emotions—it’s always been hard for her—her actions perfectly reflect who she is and what she feels. From the moment my sister was born until today, when she’s nearing retirement, she’s always stood tall through adversity. Raising four children, educating them, most of the time on her own, is a monumental battle that no mother should have to face. Yet she never once complained about it. I’ve never heard her lament her situation or regret having us. On the contrary, she would make the same decision again because we are a blessing to her.
3rd: For this reason, she is the strongest person I know. That strength she built, having to overcome past traumas caused by bad people, having to beg for food due to corrupt politicians who ruined the economy and brought the country to collapse just so we wouldn’t go hungry… This woman, who today has broken her back working to provide me with the comforts I’ve always had, is someone who has earned my deepest respect and holds the purest love I keep in my heart. Truly, the only reason I keep standing is to make her proud and happy.
4th: From her, I learned not to give up and to learn from my mistakes. I learned to admit defeat and accept when I needed help—just as she once had to.
5th: She’s always been there for me, unconditionally, giving me the purest love and compassion anyone could give. Sometimes we take things for granted, but to be able to act in the world knowing that, no matter what happens, no matter how hard the fall, she’ll be there to help me stand up again, to comfort me, to help me, and to be one of the few people who truly respect me… Just hearing her say “I love you” melts me. I crave and adore every time I hear her say she’s proud of me. This woman taught me what true love is. Despite the difficulties people may carry, she always manages to see the warmest and most beautiful light in them, bringing out that light we all carry inside.
2 - My Grandfather
Title: A man who teach us with love. The pillar of a legacy.
Reasons:
1st: From him I inherited this playful, curious, explorative, and humorous personality I have. He always made sure the people around him felt good and had a good time. He always had a deep love for me, telling me hundreds of stories that nourished my imagination—while also holding me accountable for my mistakes and teaching me to face them.
2nd: He always protected us. Every single weekend for countless years, visiting him and seeing his smile, his jokes, his strength—it’s something that always inspired me. Seeing how the whole family—hundreds of relatives, truly—respected and still respect him deeply, has always left a mark on me. He was a real man, and with my grandmother we always say, “What a man,” haha. He always took it upon himself to be a father figure to everyone—grandchildren, nephews, daughters-in-law, all of us. He made sure to love us, to be the pillar we could all lean on.
3rd: From him I learned how to make the hard decisions and take responsibility for things others often avoid. Even if others are capable, he taught me the importance of taking initiative. From him I inherited this need to protect, to care, and to love deeply—always with respect for others.
4th: But with respect comes something essential: honesty. I learned that from him, too. The kind of honest love that pushes you to tell someone, out of care, the silly mistakes they’re making. That kind of tough love he was capable of giving always helped realign and guide those around him.
5th: He gave me the model of the man I always wanted to be. And only now, as I write this, I realize how much I resemble him. Even though he didn’t speak openly about his emotions the way I do, his attitude—wanting to make others feel welcome, comfortable, and loved, protecting them and allowing the fields, the people, to flourish around him through his care, with a strength and steadiness any man would dream of attaining
This is a beautiful exercise—difficult, certainly. Thank you.
@Franse thank you for painting your mother and grandfather to us. I love them too- from all what you've described.
Your mother sounds like an incredibly brave and gentle woman and your grandfather looks like a humorous and righteous figure. Both seem to be excellent role models for children.
I also admire your thoughtfulness in feeling your loved ones in a deep positive light. You are a blessing to them as they are to you. I'm so glad to read such a warm tale of family love.
a prayer for you: may you'd pass on this legacy through your self to your children and grand children as well , ameen. Inshaa Allah.
❤️
It becomes easier to shape these things when you offer us these kinds of exercises. Your mother must be more than proud of the woman she raised, you certainly got so many good things from her. The fact that you can see everything she gave you, in addition to adoring the flaws she carries, shows the love and respect you feel for her. She's lucky to have you. This community is lucky to have you.
@Creamyyy I'd give the title cutest balls of hapiness to my 3 little piggies 😁💖 (guinea pigs)
Because they have brought so much love, company and smiles into my life 💖
@Tinywhisper11 oh that surely sounds cute 😍
@Creamyyy 💖😁💖
@Creamyyy
Thank you...this is such a beautiful prompt.
At first I didn’t want to pick just one person from my “non digital” life. Most people in my life have shaped me in some way...either by embodying qualities I admire or by lacking those very qualities... which taught me exactly who I didn’t want to become.
But for the sake of the imaginary paper plate, I choose my friend—let’s call him Z
Title- Z - The Grandmaster of the Jedi Order
1. Z is the most detached-attached person I know.
He taught me that other people’s decisions aren’t always about you. He never takes things personally. He understands boundaries- when to step in, when to step back. Never interferes in my personal life. We even have separate friend circle. He is not even my "best friend". I think we qualify as childhood friends or "became friends bcoz his mom is my godmother". Anyway... if I say I don’t want to talk about something, he doesn’t push. He simply says “You should talk to someone" and that’s it. Thats why he helped me set up penpals first (which flopped) and eventually he researched and introduced me to 7 Cups. Made me post my poems - literally clicked "post" button when I posted the first poem in 7cups. Aaand thats how I ended up here.
2. Z is both a hype man and a mirror
He hypes me up like I’m heading into battle every time I face a challenge. "Do or do not, there is no try". But when I spiral he’s also the one—aside from my older brother—who’s unafraid to say “Ok enough of this sh!t. Get a grip.” (which is brave because I’m apparently very intimidating irl) And when I make a trauma joke about myself, he laughs—not in pity, not in horror, but with me. He jokes back. That, to me, is the deepest kind of understanding.
3. Z is always game to try something new.
Wall climbing? Z
Kart racing? Z
Mountain climbing? Z
Cooking disaster that ended in cereal for dinner party? Also Z
He’s never scared of being a beginner. Meanwhile I’m a recovering perfectionist. If I’m bad at something I usually just… stop. But Z made “being bad” feel fun.
4. Z can cry—and he’s startlingly honest with his emotions.
It sounds simple but it’s rare. He doesn’t cry all the time but when something moves him—like a funeral or a quiet memorial—he doesn’t hide it. He lets himself feel it fully. No shame, no filter. He taught me that tears aren’t weakness. He’s also disarmingly candid. Remember the whole “detached Jedi” thing? Yeah... sometimes he drops truth b0mbs just to watch the emotional fireworks.
5. Z has quotes for everything.
He’s like Tyrion Lannister meets Tumb.lr circa 2012 Sometimes it’s someone famous. Sometimes it’s just Z wisdom.
my favorites?
- “The fear of anticipation is bigger than the fear itself.”
-"Beginners are the only people who get to have fun. Experts just have anxiety--" then he looked at me and added --"and PTSD'
Bonus point - Z is confident - He knows his strengths and isn’t afraid to say them out loud—sometimes a little too out loud, honestly. Calls me "the second most intelligent person" he knows, because the first is obviously him. (which is kinda true...he is intelligent...is he the first though? idk)
Sooo... in conclusion, Z taught me how to be a better friend!
@azurePond
Z is indeed awesome.
To understand boundaries while also being there for you - is what a respectful and caring friendship looks like.
To have someone laugh with you at your self jokes- without pity or horror- is a beautiful connection. Ive craved that.
To try new things shows a courageous and fun loving approach to life. Yeah my perfectionism could be a little cured with such a presence too.
To be both self aware about your merits and be able to cry without shame - are both strengths, indeed.
Z knows a lot and is open to learning more.
You are lucky to have an awesome person like that who taught you so much - and I too feel inspired by him from whatever Ive learnt through your account.
Thanks for sharing Z with us. ❤️
@Creamyyy You're welcome. And thank you💓... yeah Z's awesome.. I am proud of him!
Ok, I need to meet Z now. He sounds amazing. <3
@jesusredeemedme2425 Thanks, Kiara. I’ll text him what you said...and he’ll probably reply with something like... ‘Thank you and ofc I’m amazing."
@Creamyyy
Thanks but I'm not much of a writer/thinker at the best of times 😕
I will have to say my WIFE of 42 years.
Unconditional Lover/Giver (not very creative)
Strongest woman I know, when I met her she was a single mom, raising a beautiful daughter who has Down Syndrome
She has the biggest heart of anyone I have ever met.
Has stood beside me through thick and thin. Job losses, standing in line at the food bank.... barely scraping by to pay rent or mortgage over the years.
She was the caregiver for her parents and mine when the time came, when no other family members would lend a hand.
25+ year Breast Cancer Survivor, has diligently taken care of herself all the while taking care of her daughter and I.
@braindamag3 you wrote well enough. 🙂
im in awe of her strength and love too. None of the things you've listed come under the category of ordinary sacrifices we make in our lives. Health battles, caregiving, financial hardships, exceptional motherhood... These are all in the category of extraordinary challenges of life... which she has aced. What a great example to witness and be inspired by.
Thank you for sharing with us 💛
@braindamag3 not to forget:
The fact that you're the anchor to such a wonderful lady speaks volumes about your strength and love too 💛
@Creamyyy
Thank you, you are too kind ❤️ 😊
My best friend
The living wit
He is the smartest person my age I ever met
He always cares about others and has strong morals and values
He always works hard for his purposes
He is very passionate about knowledge and loves being informed
He is very emotionally intelligent and it helps him a lot in his social plans and relationships
In my opinion, he is the embodiment of wit, at least in my eyes.

My boyfriend Kurtis
Loving Devotion
Reason 1: You love me even when I find it hard to love myself.
Reason 2: You see me as I am, and you love all of me not just the parts that are easy to live with.
Reason 3: You trust me to accept and love you too.
Reason 4: No one has been more supportive of me or my goals as you've been.
Reason 5: Your kind, encouraging, and thoughtful to everyone.
Reason 6: When I want to give everything up in life and not be around you still want to visit me and make sure that I am okay.
Reason 7: When I need clarification, you always explain it to me without ever talking down to me.
His Holiness the Dalai Lama
The kindest,most open-minded inspiration.
My parents and other teachers showed me great kindness. He showed me great kindness toward all. His words put out the fire of my anger and opened my mind to see everyone wants to be happy just like me, but many times they choose ways that make them suffer too. He showed me what true lasting happiness looks like.
@soulsings that's such a positive inspiration to have in your life. Someone who has the power to bring you peace through their words carry the gift for a reason. Someone who helps you learn both kindness and happiness is a true blessing. I feel calmed by hearing, thank you for sharing 💛
@Creamyyy You are welcome.
Your words of appreciated make my day more joyful. Thank you.
