I’m adding a taglist to start, but this post is open to absolutely everyone! <3

I'm no Satanist, but I think everyone could benefit from looking into it, particularly Laveyan Satanism. Most Satanists don't actually worship Satan, and many dont even necessarily believe in Satan. It's more of a stand against moral hypocrisy at its heart, or it's at least supposed to be, with something akin to "commandments" which are largely about being respectful of others. Also, from my understanding, the Church of Satan does lots for charity and humanitarian causes.

It's obviously not for everyone, and it's understandably an uncomfortable subject for many. There are definitely a lot of kinds, and lots of criticisms too. Still, the main point that I want to get across is that most Satanists are just living their own way of life, and it usually doesn't involve actually standing for evil.

Didn't expect you to post this lol. I do appreciate how you're willing to see everyones point of view. Definitely not a satanist. I prefer to keep demons in my horror movies lol.

I'm not a satanist but I'm vaguely aware of the core beliefs of it. From what I've been told, modern Satanism in the most general sense is about embracing the self over service to others or to a higher power. Most do not worship Satan in any literal sense, and many reject worship of idols or deities all together. The Satanic Temple (TST) - as in the organization - also has some political influence when it comes to issues like free speech and reproductive rights. They vocally and publicly push back when religion and politics intersect to justify oppression, anti-secularism, and discrimination. 

A lot of that comes down to "If any one religion is allowed to do XYZ - even if gives unfair privileges, imposes penalties on those who don't choose to follow it, or if it otherwise harms, excludes, or offends others - then every religion should have that same right. If you wouldn't be comfortable with The Satanic Temple doing it, then it doesn't need to exist."

While I don't personally follow it as there are flaws and contradictions in other parts of the philosophy that are hard to reconcile for me, I can appreciate and respect Satanism (or at least, the TST set of beliefs specifically - I'm not familiar with every single type of satanism out there and I'm sure some are very different) in the context of pushing back against ways that religion can be weaponized by those who seek to control and harm others as opposed to following the teachings to live a kind and just life. I do really like the wording of the tenet that states "One’s body is inviolable, subject to one’s own will alone" and wish that were a universally accepted view as it just seems like common sense to me.

Sorry about some of the harshness youre recieving for this one. I, for one, was pleasantly surprised to see you made this post. There are Satanists on cups, Ive met them. Whether or not they use this post is their choice, but it's kind of you, to give them the chance...everyone deserves a voice unless they use it to hurt others, and I trust that's not what any decent cupser- of any religion- would do

By the by, have you made one for those who practice Judaism, or atheism? I havent found any, i'd like to bookmark those..
