Group Mods Introduce Yourselves!

Hello mod people! I hope you're having an excellent day wherever you are!

1) I like having the ability to guide group chat away from dark places and keep the conversation moving in an inclusive way.

2) I really like group support chat, and would love to see a way to have multiple chats open in tabs (so I can watch listener chat and waiting room at the same time).

3) If I could be anywhere right now, it would be with the monks and nuns of Plum Village as they send their love and compassion to Thich Nhat Hahn (who just had a stroke last week and is recovering in intensive care).

4) answer to random question: I am motivated by my biggest commitment - to extinguish fear in the heart of all beings. Tall order for someone with a panic disorder!

My random question: If you could play any instrument (other than one you already play) what would it be and why?

Hello, the name is Ej. :)

I like being a group mod because it plays a different, unique dynamic. Not only are you there to assist others, but you're also expected to know when to chime in or sit back. It's a very humbling experience.
If I could improve something, it would be that when a user reports someone in group chat, us group mods would be pinged as I haven't seen that as of yet.
Feel free to message me whenever you need something. You all should or will see me quite frequently. :)

My Q: WHat is your ultimate goal here

1) What is your favouritething about being a Group Mod?

The ability to lead discussions in a proper manner and be able to help people. It just brings smile to my face and every night as i fall asleep i always try to look at my day and decide how i did, needless to say ever since i joined this awesome website i feel proud, happy and good.

2)If you could improve one thing in Group Support Chat, what would it be?

Maybe make the interface bigger, we're reaching a point where we usually have 20+ in chat daily so sometimes when multiple conversations are happening its really hard to keep up with the pace of the Discussion.

3) If you could be anywhere doing anything right now, where and what would it be?

I really want to join Mecins Sans Fronties and maybe i will after appropriate training. There is so much to do, one can never stop.

4) What is your ultimate goal here?

@helpfulej I hope that one day i could be a permenant staff member of this website and be part of this life transforming company. I will keep on doing my best and hopefully i will achieve it one day.

I'm Tina :) I've been on 7 cups for about 7 months now-but have only been a mod for a few weeks.

1) What is your favouritething about being a Group Mod?

I think one of my favorite things is just being able to help people while keeping the chatrooms a safe place for everyone! Being able to listen to their stories and encourage them through whatever they have going on in their lives.

2)If you could improve one thing in Group Support Chat, what would it be?

I agree with who ever said it first, having the ability to not have people PM message you when you're trying to Mod a chat, it can be very overwhelming at times! Also a way to break up the rooms a little more, I know that when a certain number of people are in a room it opens a 2nd room, but I'm not sure what the "cap" is. Sometimes I feel like there's so many people going back and forth it can be very hard to keep up with everyone and make sure everyone is feeling welcome.

3) If you could be anywhere doing anything right now, where and what would it be?

That's a hard question-there's so many places I'd like to be, lol! If I could be anywhere right now I'd probably be in Memphis visiting some friends I haven't seen in a couple of years :)

4) What is your favorite part about being a listener (From Elidz)?

I have always loved helping people, I've always been the one people go to when they have problems....I try to always be there for my friends whether they need advice, a distraction, or just someone to listen to them. I love coming on here and being able to be there for someone and support them through what they have going on, no matter what it is! I started out as a member here, and I just remember loving how unjudgemental the listener I had was and how supportive she was. I strive to do the same when I'm talking with people. I love being able to follow up with members to see how they're doing and progressing, or being able to be there to offer extra support when they need it!

1) What is your favouritething about being a Group Mod?

I love seeing members and guests interacting with each other and sharing their own experiences to help others.

2)If you could improve one thing in Group Support Chat, what would it be?

I still think we need more specific rules about several things, such as muting/banning, inappropriate topics and such. I feel that using one's "judgment call" can be quite tricky, especially when it differs from the other mods' ideas about the situation.

3) If you could be anywhere doing anything right now, where and what would it be?

I'd probably like to be somewhere abroad, talking to one of my amazing internet friends in real life :)

Hey everyone, I'm Tyler. I'm pretty new to 7 Cups but I already feel very dedicated to its mission. Happy to be a part of this amazing community. 1) What is your favourite thing about being a Group Mod? Making sure the Group Support rooms are safe places for Guests and Members to go to discuss and support one another. I'm glad we are there to keep it from becoming a haven for troll behavior. 2) If you could improve one thing in Group Support Chat, what would it be? This wouldn't be a change to Group Support Chat per se, but I would make sure there are enough available Listeners around to keep general requests from piling up. It's kind of a bummer when you are moderating and there are 10+ general requests, and you can't help with them. 3) If you could be anywhere doing anything right now, where and what would it be? I would be at the beach on a warm night with a bonfire and some friends. 4) What is the last concert you've been to? The last concert I went to was actually a comedy festival with many well-known comedians. It was great. Question for next mod: What was your biggest dream/ambition as a kid and has it changed since then?

1) What is your favorite thing about being a Group Mod?

My favorite thing is seeing members, guest and other listeners all come together to help each other. It really is wonderful and makes me smile!

2) If you could improve one thing in Group Support Chat, what would it be?

This would have to be the same as what other people have said being that it gets really overwhelming when you get request for 1on1 and you cant say yes because you are moderating. So maybe making it not possible for group mods to get personal 1on1 request while moderating would be super good.

3) If you could be anywhere doing anything right now, where and what would it be?

I would be back in New York shopping!

4) What was your biggest dream/ambition as a kid and has it changed since then?

It was to travel the world and become an explorer and find hidden treasures. I did travel the world for 3 years and I went everywhere which was amazing! The only thing that changed is that I didn't find any hidden treasures!

1) What is your favouritething about being a Group Mod?

My favourite thing is being able to be a group leader and make everyone feel welcome in the group chats.

2)If you could improve one thing in Group Support Chat, what would it be?

If I could improve one thing about Group support chat it would be that the rules are more accessible for the Members to see as well as maybe a bit more specific

3) If you could be anywhere doing anything right now, where and what would it be?

Ooh if I could be anywhere right now it would be anyplace warm, I'm going to vote New Zealand cause I've always wanted to go there and be away from this Candian cold haha :P

4) What is your favorite movie that always makes you happy?

My favourite movie that always makes me happy is Hairspray! It is such a fun movie and has all the music and dance! I'm not sure why but I love it and sadly watched it probably 200 times with my friends in High School!

1) What is your favouritething about being a Group Mod?

Getting to interact with lots of different people and being an encouragement to them:)

2)If you could improve one thing in Group Support Chat, what would it be?

I would make it so that users have really easy access to crisis numbers. like we could click a button if we feel like they're in crisis and it PMs them a list of numbers or sites for their country

3) If you could be anywhere doing anything right now, where and what would it be?

I would be back in Thailand doing lots of work and helping people. I really miss being there and I love speaking the language (sometimes I weird people out by saying it here) :P

4)If you ruled the world for one day, what is one change you would make?

I would distribute food evenly around the world :)

My question for the next Mod: If you could be any food, what would you be and why?

1. What is your favorite thing about being a group moderator? I would have to say watching the members support each other and being able to intervene when they need help. Guiding through difficult discussions gives me a sense of accomplishment.

2. If you could change one thing about group chat what would it be and why? I would eliminate all the trolls so that people would feel safe in group chat.

3. If you could be anywhere doing anything, where and what? I would be laying on a beach in Fiji soaking up some sun.

4. If you were a food what would you be and why? I would be cotton candy because it is sweet and light and fluffy.
