Group Support Room Updates
In a continued effort to increase safety and ensure that each Group Support Room is adequately moderated, we will be making some changes to some of the rooms.
As of this Friday, January 4th, at 12:00 pm ET, the following changes will be made:
- Depression Support (adult room) will be closed and become a pop-up room to be used for scheduled discussions and sessions.
- Depression Chat will remain open 24/7 and will be available for anyone needing support for depression.
- LGBTQ+/MOGII Support (adult room) will be closed and become a pop-up room to be used for scheduled discussions and sessions.
- LGBTQ+/MOGII Community will remain open 24/7 and will be available for anyone needing support for LGBTQ+/MOGII issues
- Family Support will be closed and become a pop-up room to be used for scheduled discussions and sessions.
- Disability Support will be closed and become a pop-up room to be used for scheduled discussions and sessions.

I agree that the LGBTQ+/MOGII Support Room should remain open. All members deserve to be able to have the availability for support without feeling the need to go to the general chatroom. While 1-1's are here for a reason and benefical, support from our peers in the chatrooms is incredibly important. Being able to separate the light hearted chat from the more serious conversations asking for support could be very beneficial. It also allows for the light hearted chat for those who would like to be able to talk with everyone without risking getting triggered....
I think that closing down the Disability Room is a horrid idea. This is an incredibly important room for so many people and there isn't another disability room to receive support in. There are few other places to receive the same kind of support that is offered in this chatroom. It is invaluable and shouldn't be taken away from everyone who values it and is able to benefit from it. A sense of community has been built in this room and it shouldn't be torn away..
I vote to not close this room. Always awesome people and get discussion and support for the disabled and non-disabled alike.

I think everyone knows it's unsupportive ( most the time at least even ) but It's active and has so many members . Disability room not very active but still very supportive So you're going to close the supportive rooms ' because it's not moderated or/and no mods for them'
this doesn't make any sense to me 
@ItsHayden Compassion corner is supportive in its own way. If you dont like it, no one forces you to click on it.

I'm the Compassion Corner Support Team Leader. Compassion corner has a unique way of supporting each other, but they do infact help each other. We are working to maintain a higher presence and level of safety and security for our members in that room, while still giving them the freedom to express themselves in a unique way. Our Compassion Corner SUPPORT sessions are in a pop-out support room, which usually gets a different group of people from all over the website. They are wonderful sessions, that I hope you will someday stop by to attend.
I think part of the beauty of 7 Cups is having the ability to find a room that suites your needs, and recieve support from friends in it. I agree with you that it would be a shame to loose any of these rooms.

These rooms has been a safe place for most of us. 7 cups used to be for supporting people and by closing these rooms you are destroying their safe place. I'm sure there are more people who can volunteer to be a mod if it's really for safety However, I believe they don't even need any.

It seems the community rooms are being kept open whilst the support rooms are changing to pop-up rooms except for the disability support room, which just seems unfair. A lot of people are concerned by this and should be listened to before changes are made

@HopefulSprings if with ccm you mean cc, no dont close cc. cc is unrelated to this topic, works fine without mods, and doesnt take anything away from anyone else. if you dont like cc, the solution is easy, dont click on it

ccm is community centered modding.. which has left us with mods who have no mod powers. Before this we had loads of mods !
@HopefulSprings ccm has also left us with a much highier quality of modderating creating a much more supportive and safe space than we had before.

then why the need to close rooms, hmmmm? And I think youre wrong about the higher quality. Its easy to have higher quality when you have less mods. The average is much less.
@HopefulSprings because we have vome to a point where we do not have as many volunteers as we have had in the past. We have also opened new pop up rooms and some are with those. That they too are passionate about. The number of mods we have in total are less than before how would making them global change that? It would still be putting far too much to manage of far too little people. Everyone seems very passionate about this and perhaps we will have some new leaders soon. Wouldnt that be great.

yeah, i think that makes sense. Its just hard to keep rooms open when folks arent volunteering to help out and arent going into them with any regular cadence. I think these rooms should be open if and when we have a full team of volunteers and a plan on how to keep them active :90

The problem isn't necessarily room availability but rather active moderation. I've found that even during scheduled, directed discussions some moderators are really not good at keeping the conversation on track and side conversations happen (which is both distracting and confusing).

@SouthernFlame Yep. As other members pointed out, some people really rely on the availibility of these rooms.

that means people need to actually apply then so they have enough mods. Or, add more ways to prevent burnout, etc.
