Key Updates On Group Support Roles and Applications

Hi everyone,

I hope you all are well. We’ve been doing some optimization and update work for over a month or so. We made some key changes as listed below:

• Room Supporter Application: We removed a bunch of questions from the application to keep it simple and seek minimal information to process the application swiftly. Also, updated its training guide, and at the end of the guide, including form-based training. You can utilize form-based training to test your knowledge and understanding. It means zero waiting period to complete the training. As soon as you submit your application, go through and read the guide carefully, and you can take the training. The goal is to process the application and onboard you at the earliest of a maximum of 72 hours. You can apply to become a room supporter here
  

• Chatroom Moderator Application: We made similar changes as above for the chatroom moderator application too. The training guide is under review to update it with the latest updates and resources. But, again zero waiting period to complete the training and process the application, and onboard you within 72 hours. You can apply to become a chatroom moderator here

• Global Moderator Application: We made some key changes to the global moderator role. We added clear expectations from the role and moving forward global mods will be equivalent to mentor level to provide guidance, support, and coaching to fellow room supporters and community-centered chatroom moderators. Also made changes to keep the application simple and seek minimal information to process. The application also includes additional training-related resources. The goal is to give much-deserved recognition and appreciation our global moderators deserve. Key expectations are:
  • Send at least 100 messages in the chatroom
  • Host at least 1 Support Session per month on a topic and room of your choice.
  • Mentor and Buddy fellow room supporters and community-centered moderators. Please check the initiative here.
  • Help to build resources to support room supporters and chatroom moderators

• Doorkeeper Application: We reduced the criteria for becoming a doorkeeper. Earlier the criteria were hosting at least 3 sessions per week and one of the sessions was to be in a pop-up room. Now, the criteria are to host at least 5 sessions in a month and two of the sessions need to be in the pop-up rooms. Apply to become a doorkeeper here

• Introduced Group Support Assistance Form: The goal of this form is to provide quick assistance, guidance, and support to our room supporters and chatroom moderators. Read more about the initiative here!

We will be updating and making changes to other group support roles too to make them more aligned and synchronized. We will also soon be adding a single space for all information, and resources related to roles and applications to make it easier for everyone to access and navigate. We are hoping these changes support, empower and facilitate our group support leaders and community members to have uplifting and supportive conversations.
