**The past week has gone well... I stayed completely on track with most everything (still working on my sleep goals) but I will get there~... Had several appointments this week that were much needed, one that I kept putting off for awhile nothing major, but, so glad I finally got it out of the way. I managed to get some other cleaning projects done around the house that I've been wanting to do all summer.... almost caught up. Still need to work on my bedroom, hoping to have that done by next week. Would like to go into the Fall months with all my little projects completed!

**The weather has still be very hot here..still in the 90's the entire week. I've been so busy the past two weeks that I haven't really had the chance to miss the pool not being opened during the "weekdays" since I've been on the go. But I still manage to get there on the weekends to relax and unwind......, also still walking with my mom in the mornings (In addition to teaching my classes).....And manage to get to the Lake a few times a week to walk with my dog~ I've been finally incorporating more 'Weights and Strength' activities to my weekly workouts since the Studio I'm at has added a few 'New' Toning classes. Its so much easier to workout with other like-minded individuals rather than trying to motivate myself when I'm not always up to doing so~

**Saturday is finally my FREE day again to do what I like... I really want for this day to be my total 'Rest' day, but, because I like to also "treat" myself this day, it looks like I will have to over-all choose another day to "rest"~ When I was slacking off a bit, I made a committment to do something 7 DAYS a week and I've kept that up for the most part about a year or so? So I've become accustomed to this since I make a "Goal" for myself to get in a certain amount of STEPS each day..... But since I've gotten closer to my goals finally, I will eventually work back towards this.

**Today, my intentions are to walk with my mom in the very early morning, then We have our Bi-weekly POUND event not long after, I was asked to get up and do a Track by the Head Instructor. So I will also go to that after the walk.... Then after that, I plan to hit the Pool for a little bit to swim and relax a little. Then I have some normal errands to run afterwards. Will be a BUSY day ahead!surpriseindecision

ENJOY YOUR WEEKEND~yes

I did my yoga almost every day this week! Yay! I have a relaxing weekend ahead of me, but I'm gonna make sure to my yoga tomorrow, too, regardless! Next week I'd like to go outside, and add a little more to my workout.

I actually was consistent with my yoga! Woo!

My favorite way to spend a weekend is to have a perfect medium between a really fun outing with my loved ones and also some much-needed recharge time for myself!

HIGHLIGHT: Keeping up with yoga!
STRUGGLE: Not going outside. :(

This weekend is my boyfriend's birthday (his first with me!) so we're gonna have a movie marathon one day & then go to a really cool art museum the next. We'll picnic in the msueum gardens, it'll be really fun! I also may take him out to dinner!

Thats great that you managed to meet your activity goals the past week. Good for you for being able to get it in almost everyday . Great job.yes

Sounds like your favorite way to spend a weekend, is about the same as mine. I love spending time with my family while also having enough time for myself as well and finding that perfect balance.

Movie marathon sounds fun... What movies were on your agenda?... Me and mine do the same thing.. we just find something that we both can enjoy and let the TV run on Saturday nights. lol... Sounds like you had a fun weekend planned ~ Where were your dinner plans?!... How did everything go?

Thanks so much for checking in and keeping us up to date on how things have been going for you. Sounds like a really great and positive check-in for you!yes

@PoliteOcean Thank you, thank you, thank you! I had a beautiful time. He found out I hadn't really seen most of the Marvel superhero movies, so we're going through them in order. It's been really fun! We also ended up not going to the museum... Instead we went to the Science Center! It was really fun! We had a blast with all the interactive exhibits and animals. He's so much fun!

@PoliteOcean I was released from the hospital Wednesday August 7th after spending 14 weeks in the hospital for kidney failure. I moved into a different residence. It's been nerve wracking because I'm living in a home for sick people. I'm too sick to live by myself, and my condo is being sold. I was offline for 8 days. I'm still not on the right medication routine. Last week I had two doctor appointments, an appointment with a home-based nurse, occupational therapist, and physical therapist. Next week I have four appointments scheduled, but now I'm thinking maybe I should slow down. I still have most of my possessions in boxes on the floor. I'm supposed to be getting a dresser and small bookshelf this upcoming week.

@Regmo

Hey there Regmo! So good to hear from you....Its good that you have been released after all that time. So sorry to hear that the current accomadations are not to your liking. I'm sure it has been challenging for you to be somewhere that you don't wish to be. I hope that you are able to get your medication situation sorted out soon.... Sounds like you have had quite the busy time with medical staff and so many various appointments. I do hope that they or someone is helping you to get situated and settled. Its good that you will be getting a dresser and bookshelf. Perhaps you can use the bookshelf for some of your poetry?!... Hopefully things will continue to start to look up for you now that you finally got placed, and with your various appointments hopefully they will all continue to provide you with the things and the care that you will need. Thank you so much for checking in this week and letting us know how you've been doing and keeping us up to date on how things have been going for you!

@Rebekahwriter13

Hey there... Thats tough getting stood up. That can be challenging and leave us with some bitter feelings as to what happened and why it happened.

On the brighter note, its great that you feel you having been meeting your goals for yourself for this past month!

How great for you that you have finished your novel!..I'm curious as to how you will decided to finish it. What is the novel about?

Listening to music and talking with friends is a great way to spend a weekend....Can be lots of fun.

Tough break about your feeling that you friend is "jealous" or having jealous feelings. That can be hard to deal with... Have you talked to each other about your feelings?

Thanks so much for checking in this week and letting us know how you've been doing and keeping us up to date.

Another busy week. Time is sure going fast. Still goal setting to stay on track. Reunion last week and stayed on track with moderation. Weather has been good mid 80s last week this week will hit 90 which is not bad if only a few days and back to 80s. Still doing more swimming for exercise than walking. Should get another month of swimming in before the weather cools. Overall a good summer, just would like it to last longer. Enjoy your weekend.

@sail46

Hey there Sail~

Good for you for still tracking things and being able to stay on track. (Especially with a reunion!).. Those can be challenging.. I think and feel that EVERY/ANY holiday (or reunion type gathering) can be challenging and tricky for myself. ... But its great that you are in the mindset of having what you want in "Moderation". Moderation is key.

Its good that your weather is still cooperating, and in return keeping you on track with your activity and the goals you have for yourself...... I totally agree that this summer has surely been a good one, and truly wish myself that it would last longer as well.~

Hope that you enjoyed your weekend Thanks so much for checking in and continuing to keep us informed and up to date on how things are going for you!

What goals have you accomplished so far for yourself this month? What are some things that you still want to work on or accomplish over the next two weeks?

I am going to finish my last class with the pass I have with the new exercise company. I did get it extended as I have been a bit sick with an infection plus had things like medication shipments that I had to be home for. My last class will be one that's new to me.

Gardening will be finishing in the next month-ish, so I hope to get out there when the mosquitoes are tolerable. I also need to figure out what I will be doing for exercise, this new group still doesn't have an indoor location. I am also missing some of the weight training aspect, although we'll see what the class this week is like.

**What are some things or goals that you have over-come or made you proud of yourself this past week?

I got ripe tomatoes! We have had lots of nights in the single digits, so everyone's stuff that likes heat is suffering. It was shared on the news that last year we had 53 days above 25C. This year so far it's only been 19 (although today might make it 20). So ripe tomatoes is something to celebrate!

I've also been happy with my efforts with working out in general. I've done a bit of weights at home (picked up a pair of 10 lbs, also have 8 lbs on order).

**Just for Fun.....What is your FAVORITE way to Spend a Weekend?

Playing with my nephews! Need to plan something soon, it's been a while.

**What have been your "Highlights" Or "Struggles" over this past week? What are your weekend Plans?!

Being sick always interfers with things. I really didn't accomplish anything but resting on the weekend. I did get out for a bit yesterday for groceries. I have to go in for work this week one day, so between that and a new exercise class will see how I feel this weekend. I would like to get out to the farmers market and do a bit in the garden - potatoes to harvest, should have more tomatoes coming, beans are finally producing. Maybe make some refrigerator pickles with cukes bought at the market - I want to eat the few I have in my garden fresh since there's so little this year. Next time the temperature gets cool again I'll probably cook up some of the unripe tomatoes as there's plenty of those!

**What would "YOU" like to talk about or share with us?! WE want to hear from "YOU"!!

Long term I would like to increase my job. Responsibilities & time. Training this week is a very small step towards that (will mostly be stuff I already know). Had a bit of discussion of some possible training in the future though.

I would love to get to the point of being a part-time employee instead of a casual employee. Not sure if a) the company would allow for that with my position b) if I will be capable of the hours consistently enough

So will just continue to learn when the opportunities come up and play it by ear.

@AffyAvo

Hey there!

Its so great that were willing to extend your pass due to not feeling well. Its nice when things like that can be accommodated for and that you will be able to get that extra time in and finish up. I hope that they are still "actively" looking or trying to get that "indoor" location soon! ... What will your "last" class entail as you said it would be "new"?

Ripe tomatoes! NICE!... I love tomatoes.. I eat them EVERYDAY! Bfast lunch and dinner as well....its great with the weather conditions that you were able to grow them. I have such conflicting feelings, as I've read about "night-shade" foods (like tomatoes) get a "bad rep". Saying that they can cause inflammation and possible issues with weight?.. I know that you are pretty educated on lots of things, have you ever heard this? What are your thoughts on this?

Thats awesome for you that you feel "GOOD" about your workout/activity progress this past week. That is great news. 10lb weights!?!... Say what!... HOW AWESOME!.. I have really slacked on my weights, but finally started to 'try' and incorporate them more. Those 8lbs can be so tough when you aren't used to them. I finally got used to the 5lbs again hahaha.... Guess I need to bump up my game!

Its good that you are starting to feel well again after being sick...It can certainly be a challenge and interference. But 'Resting' I'm sure is exactly what your body needed you to do.

I think its so cool for yourself and others who garden, that you are able to do so, and keep up with it and manage it all. I know it can be tough work and time consuming. And to have a successful garden, is awesome. I really would like to have one. But I know better lol....

Thats is really great that you are wanting to work toward your "Work" goals and do more! Its nice that you are mulling over the ideas and goals and picturing where you would like to be and see yourself down the line. And that you are willing to get there, and work toward that if and when you can do so. Hopefully the situation will present itself and the company will allow that to happen. And its good that you are willing to cooperate and continue to learn in the meantime. It certainly helps to have a positive attitude moving forward!...

Thanks so much for checking in this week and letting us know how things are going for you. Continue to keep us informed about your classes, as well as the work situation and how that all progress for you!

@PoliteOcean The new class I did was a bit of mix of cardio, strength and stretching. I really liked it but ugh to the repetitiveness! I was definitely taking in extra breaks, not doing it all. There were only 2 of us though and the other was skipping stuff to check in with her 4 kids so it felt comfortable.

Definitely a challenge, as it was jogging/jumping jacks (haha I gave up on the jog immedaite for walking, but figured a tiny bit was probably good just to loosen up).

Then it was all abs, then all arms, then all legs. Reps were supposed to increase for each set. One of them the plan was to start with 2 reps per side, going up by 2 for 6 sets. So 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12 reps. I just stuck with the 2 with the modification and I think I get in 4 sets (everything is timed, so we didn't hit the planned max on everything). I'm clearly not at that point. I am very open to trying this again though. We'll see how I feel tomorrow as my arms are already feeling a bit sore. I allowed myself to be a little more challenged today as the reps are pretty high, but the number of exercises for each part is limited (2).

Nightshades have really falsely gotten a bad rap. The acidity in tomatoes can be problematic for some people. but then that's not the entire group and even within tomatoes some can tolerate certain varieties that are lower in acid. People can be allergic or intolerant to almost any food, so that's possible.

Beyond that though, nightshades are ok. It was assumed tomatoes were poisonous for quite some time in Europe, and I think that was the start of assumed issues. I think all the nightshades group produce alkaloids which tend to be toxic. The toxicity of the various alkaloids vary, and their concentrations in the different parts of the plants vary. Deadly nightshade/belladonna contains relatively high concentrations of some of the more toxic compounds, but some of them are actually used in prescription medications. Potato berries (they look very similar to cherry tomatoes) shouldn't be eaten, but even then it usually takes quite a few to do major harm.

When it comes to the edible parts, it was just assumed that because alkaloids are still present in them that nightshades could cause problems with autoimmune illnesses and inflammation. None of the studies done on them in the concentrations that would come about from a diet that's reasonable but still high in nightshades supports that they are problematic. There's actually studies that shows that they can be beneficial with some inflammation. When it comes to trying to keep weight down eating a bunch of potatoes isn't going to help. Go ahead and enjoy the tomatoes though - and potatoes can be included when trying to lose weight, but in moderation.

As for the weights, 10 pounds may sound like quite a bit, but for some of the easier exercises like squats and presses it's actually pretty light to be doing 20 pounds (for the pair) at a time. I'm not doing high reps with them. My nephews are certainly heavier than 20 lbs! and I want to be able to continue to pick them up (I'm starting to hit a limit with the older one). People move some pretty heavy things fairly often - a ladder, a big bag of groceries, furniture, etc. I really do want to get my strength up so that I don't need to worry about typical life things triggering me.
