🌞 This past week went well... it was a nice, restful and relaxing week. We celebrated the Long Holiday weekend and had a nice cookout and went to the Lake, and took in a Festival or two..... I didn't really stay on plan, but did manage to stay hydrated with the warmer weather this past week and also got some good rest throughout the week.
🌴 The weather was beautiful, warm and sunny this week, so We also took a drive to the Beach after the holiday.... and took some time out to just relax, refresh and recharge for a bit.... I didn't stay on plan with my "typical workouts/activity" between the holiday and the trip, but, did manage to get in alot of Walking at the Lake and got in some good walk time in at the beach as well. Starting Next week, I'm looking forwards to getting back on track with normal classes & routines, and look forwards to trying out Two new ones (that I can hopefully add to my schedule).
🍍 Its really nice to see the Month of June... (I tend to get a little "in my feelings" though at the thought that we are already "half-way" through the year and that the summer only lasts for so long). But.... I love the month of June, & This time of year is always the greatest "mood-booster" with the continuation of better weather, time in the Pool, and more Beach time. Intentions for this weekend ahead are to enjoy the weather, to finish opening up the pool, and whatever good things we can get into~
@PoliteOcean I'm glad you had a good week! What are the new classes you're trying, if you don't mind sharing?
@nordurnStar
Hey there Star thank you so much that is sweet of you!.. (I almost missed this little snippet, as I just responded to "your" weekly post below)....
But, the new classes that I took involve "Weights and Strength". (Warm-ups, then Band work, then weight work, then some floor/strength work, then a cool-down.)
I used to teach this type of class, but took a break from teaching last year to focus on self-care. But its something that I needed to get back into again! And glad that I found it. ( The 2nd class was another Dance class, which is my favorite type of workout lol)....
@PoliteOcean i have been meaning to find a way to learn how to integrate weights into my usual body-only strength workouts! Maybe a class is perfect for me.
@nordurnStar
yes absolutely try one if you can and are able to find one. I personally like the atmosphere of a class since I feel it keeps me more accountable and more motivated to do it! Lol
The one I do is all women which also helps since it’s just a nicer environment of us all helping one another.
🌞 Hey everyone~ How have you been this week?.....(& If you celebrated, How was your Long Holiday weekend)?! - This week has been pretty good, I was able to catch up on way more self care and less screen time from all devices
🌞 What were your "Highlights Or Struggles" of the week?...... How were you able to work through your challenges?! - I experienced a mini burn out which lead to me prioritizing self care and less screen time when possible. I feel recharged already but will make sure I take the entire weekend to restore
🍍 What is something that "YOU" want to talk about, add or share with us this week?! ....WE want to hear from YOU!~ - Thank you all for being apart of the Cups Community, I hope it's been helpful in everyone's different walks of life at this time 💜
@SirenOfSerenity
Hey there Siren, great to see you this week!
Thats great that your week went pretty good for you and that you were able to get in some "self-care" time! That is always an important thing to focus on whenever and wherever we can get it in!
I agree, (that I like the June Vibes too)~ I'm on the East-Coast as well, So I totally get it. And there are surely so many festivals to choose from this time of year! Keep us updated on the ones you get to check out!
I think its awesome that you are looking to focus on making some healthy adjustments for yourself with your diet plan/exercise. And I totally agree that "Consistency" is 'Key" to keeping up success. This time of year it can become easier to get outside more, get in more water (due to the humidity) and of course, healthier eating with all the Veggies (and fruits) available! I'd say your path to success is already written and that you will do an amazing job!
Aww thank you for such a supportive response! 🥲 @PoliteOcean I usually love watching old reality TV shows sometimes 😂 They're just so nostalgic and funny to see life back in the early 2000s compared to now. For beaches I really love New Jersey beaches! 🥰
Thank you for maintaining awesome healthy living check ins, it's therapeutic for me to step away from being busy and literally check in with myself 🩷
🌞 Hey everyone~ How have you been this week?.....(& If you celebrated, How was your Long Holiday weekend)?! I had a great long weekend. I'm presently going through a tough bout of work burn out and a little depression so being away did me a world of good. The weather was perfect and I spent 2 great days at 2 different lakes in the kayak just floating around, not worrying about the world.
🌞 What were your "Highlights Or Struggles" of the week?...... How were you able to work through your challenges?! My struggle this week is my work burnout....going back to work after have such a good weekend and time off. While the time off is a great way to rest, and reset, sometimes I think the anxiety and stress of going back makes having the time off worse. I'm not sure what my highlight would be right now. I have good things going on but nothing that stands out as a "highlight".
🍍 What is something that "YOU" want to talk about, add or share with us this week?! ....WE want to hear from YOU!~ I just wish everyone on this site and reading this a great day and hope that you have a wonderful summer.
@CyclingThroughLife
Hey there~
Thats awesome that you had a great long weekend especially considering that you have been dealing with a bout of "work burn out & depression". That can be challenging for sure, and Sounds like the Long weekend was just what you needed?! Its great that you were able to take some time to focus on yourself and enjoy.
I love the sun and hot weather too... so I totally get it! Its great that you are looking forwards to it this month. It can certainly be a great "mood-booster".
I think its awesome that you would like to get back to "working out". Being "fitness minded" can certainly give you a better edge at getting back to things (even if you have taken a step back from it). Sometimes we just have to take the time to focus on our "mental wellbeing" for awhile. And theres nothing wrong with doing that. And agreed, that with the warmer, nicer weather, that you will in fact be able to get outside more, and be active again....As an Fitness Instructor, I have been there myself. Just take day by day, and incorporate things you enjoy little by little, and you will definitely get back to where you want to be!
@PoliteOcean
Hi, Ocean,
Hey everyone~ How have you been this week?.....(& If you celebrated, How was your Long Holiday weekend)?! I had a huge feeling of relief. I accomplished the 3rd of 3 important tasks I had to do since I moved in. They were all emotional, stressful, and time-consuming. And I even accomplished a 4th task that was important. I got the last of them done this week.
🌞 What were your "Highlights Or Struggles" of the week?...... How were you able to work through your challenges?! It seems that I have a new neighbor who likes to play loud music. The walls are thin here. Yesterday I had enough and lost it. I banged on the wall, and they stopped. But today they were testing the waters again. So I may have to rearrange my bedroom to try and dampen the sound coming from them. We'll see how they behave.
🍍 What is something that "YOU" want to talk about, add or share with us this week?! ....WE want to hear from YOU!~ I feel a little lonely this week. But that will start to change as I hope to be working soon. Also, this is my favorite month. And my birthday is this month. Happy birthday to all those with birthdays in June.
@purpleTree4652
Hey there Tree~ So great to see you this week. Missed you last week!
That is wonderful that you were able to have a huge feeling of "relief". And that you were able to accomplish tasks/goals that you had made for yourself. That is something to be proud of. And is now (hopefully) stressors that you can leave behind you!
Oh, that would be awesome if you were able to start incorporating Swimming for your exercise. (Its certainly one of my favorite). And also get the last of your things dealt and done with from your move. Finding a job (where you can be around the type of people that you desire to be around) is certainly another great goal for yourself. I can certainly understand not wanting to be around negative people and situations if you don't have to be. I have been there myself so I get it.
I love the light late in the day as well, so I totally get that too!.. How nice that you are able to be up high enough that you can keep your windows open. Its so nice to be able to get those fresh-breezes and just air out a stuffy room. And to simply feel refreshed from it.
Oh no, sorry to hear about your neighbor who likes to play loud music.... I love music myself, BUT... do NOT like a noisy neighbor. I had one of those in the past and it seemed like it never stopped (day/night) their music was always going. So I totally understand how your emotions of it all got the better of you! I really hope that eases up for you, and that they are able to get a hint/clue. Since its not clear, I'm not sure if they are doing this in the day/night/ or all hours in between?! I know that can be a challenging situation. Please keep us updated on how that continues.
Sorry to hear that you found yourself feeling lonely this week. I know that can be a difficult feeling (regardless of the reasons). But its good that you are staying positive, and looking forwards to getting back to work. How lovely that you will celebrate your Birthday in such a wonderful month! Certainly something to look forwards to.
Thank you for taking time to check in and share your week with us! Again it was great to hear from you. Please continue to keep us updated on how things are going.
@PoliteOcean Here’s how the past week went. The people around here are really stupid when it comes to food storage. Storing food the right way is not hard. What is wrong with people? We live in a modern society. Tuesday Tunde took me to get my blood test done. It was a major victory and a huge accomplishment. Sifa is so rude to guests. It was shocking. I can’t believe an adult would have such bad manners. It’s so demoralizing to have to live with such backward people. Wednesday was Tunde’s last day of work, but he canceled because his car broke down. I was supposed to get an alternative medicine consultation. Thursday I got official notice that I’ve been renewed for another year for a caretaker. Friday I had a difficult time getting my payment to be processed for my online grocery delivery. It was nerve wracking but I finally worked it out. Friday also I had someone come over to interview to be my caretaker. She reminded me of Veronica, who was aggressive, overbearing and domineering. She said she would get back to me. I don’t have any critical appointments coming up where I need transportation so there is no urgency in hiring a new caretaker. My biggest problem right now is eye fatigue. For this upcoming Monday I have a Zoom appointment with my psychiatrist. I also bought a healing salve so I could get rid of that wound on my chest that has been there for 5 years. I hope it works. Unfortunately, it won’t get here until June 11th.
@Regmo
Hey Regmo~ Food storage can be rather important especially when it comes to particular things that may need refrigerated. Thats good that Tunde was able to take you for your blood test before his last day. But thats too bad that he also ended up canceling on his last day due to his vehicle. But its progress though that you have already been able to start the interview process to find another caregiver that will work for you. And that you were able to get renewed for another year. Although I would certainly not want to work with anyone that didn't meet my needs, nor someone that I didn't mesh well with. Its not good to be taking care of someone if that person is overbearing and rude. If a caregiver is like that, then they need to seek another profession. But its good for you that there is no urgency for you to find/hire one at the moment. And its good that you can do your upcoming appt on Zoom. If you had a wound for 5 years, have you had it looked at by a medical provider? Thats an awful long time to have the same wound. Maybe you should have someone look at it? Maybe it needs an actual prescription medication to heal completely? Thanks for checking in this week and keeping us to date on everything and how things are going.
🌞 Hey everyone~ How have you been this week?.....(& If you celebrated, How was your Long Holiday weekend)?!
It's been a mix of good and bad to be quite frank. I was staying (temporarily) at the house of a military guy that I USED to court/"date", and I initially broke it off with this person because hisanger is SCARY. I got warned by a friend that this guy is unhinged AFTER this he blew up on me and gaslighted me.
I didn't really have much choice at the time on where to go, as I would've ended up on the streets...however, I am safe now...And I reached out to a business friend, who works for a very prominent company(I won't say which company for privacy reasons), and they said to let them know if I need anything, as they have people in my city who could help me based on my situation.
Moreover, I reconnected with an old friend who helped me out as well. He gave me money, and I was able to buy food and use it towards transportation to move out of military guy's apartment. My friend lives far away with his husband, but offered me to stay if I need an asylum. I may consider it to be honest, as I am currently couchsurfing and renting out Airbnbs. Although, at the same time, my issue should be solved here hopefully soon.
In Europe, I do have a few relatives spread out in different countries. I want to reunite with them and hopefully...I may have a REAL loving family.
The (intermediate) family in the country I currently reside in...they do not care nor love me.
I grew up in a dysfunctional family where I was physically & verbally abused by parents and pitted against my siblings. Furthermore, love is CONDITIONAL with my intermediate family. At that household, it is "Do as I say, then I MIGHT show affection" type of ordeal... I've been grown, although...it still hurts to not have a family...I'm currently working on a "chosen family", as blood doesn't always mean everything, and I would LOVE for my son to have that support system.
My son's father's side of the family isn't much better, it's actually worse...It's riddled with alcoholism, child neglect/abuse, as well as domestic violence and more! So...it's best that he is not around that either...I left his father for the physical & verbal abuse, along with the alcoholism...Which my ex fiancé obtained from his parents.
Here are a few:
🌞 What were your "Highlights Or Struggles" of the week?...... How were you able to work through your challenges?!
Let's start with...
Struggles: Currently, I've been struggling with homelessness after my brother gave a last minute notice that the lease is non-renewable according to landlord and blindsided me completely.
I DO work, but have been moving weekly (I get paid weekly too). I'm hoping to find a more secure spot, especially when the taxes come in.
I am also not the best at finding healthy relationships, whether that's platonic or romantic. It always ends up being a struggle. As I mentioned prior, I escaped from this military guy I dated in the past...I only came back recently to make sure my toddler son had roof over head. It wasn't the best idea, as son ended up being more aggressive at school, which is unlike him.
Highlights: I rented out a cute lil house via Airbnb and son has been extremely comfortable and happy. I nicknamed it the 'hobbit home' as the ceiling is quite short and I almost hit my head on the doorway haha. But, I am rather tall. I've also reconnected with an old friend of mine who lives out of state with his husband, and he's helped me out in a tight situation...I also broke out crying when a tailour extended kindness to me unexpectedly. I come from a family line of tailours and...I got a sewing machine from my (undiagnosed NPD) mother, and haven't had time to touch it, since I've been going through some stuff. Since I move around a lot, I decided to walk over to the tailour shop, and inquire if they would like, as it was brand new and I would've felt bad just tossing it.
The tailour graciously accepted it, and asked questions about myself. I had mentioned prior to the tailour, that I'm moving around a lot, and I want to go to Europe to be with family and how I'm alone here. Anyways, after the questions, she handed me some money, telling me to go get some coffee or something nice. It was a lot more than I expected and I began to cry, thanked the tailour, and rushed out of the store...
🍍 What is something that "YOU" want to talk about, add or share with us this week?! ....WE want to hear from YOU!~
Hmm...I guess one thing that's been on my mind, and which I have touched a bit upon, is relationships. I thought I was getting better at setting boundaries, but I believe since I'm in a vulnerable state right now, it's harder to reinforce them for the moment...However, I am thinking of writing down reminders or having quick-links saved on my phone if I question anything...Or have a bad gut feeling. I can always use those notes/quick-links to reference to help with the boundaries.
Also, I don't really talk about this particular topic much but...I am bisexual...so I am attracted to both males & females. I tried dating on-and-off and...it's been difficult. I'm thinking of focusing on dating women more rather than men. It's just more difficult to find women, as on dating apps, it's usually swingers, polyamorous people, or just...not my type [ex. trans women(nothing wrong with them just not attracted to them, plus I also used to be a trans man...), butch women---as I consider myself the more masculine or dominate in a relationship so I prefer femmes most, and stems are OK]. Since I was in grade school, I thought I was a lesbian, then I didn't find out until maybe my late teens to early 20s that I'm bisexual and like men too lol. However, sadly, I have never dated a women after all this time...only men. I'd prefer a woman if possible...But...It's probably best not to think too hard about it.
@ImpudentIncognito
Hey there~
It sounds like you have certainly been dealing with alot of personal stressors. We are sorry to hear that you had to deal with being without a home due to personal issues. But its great that you are in fact working and able to keep a roof over your head for the time being until you find something more permanent and secure. And that you also have the tax money coming in to help support you and your child. I think that is the most important thing is being SAFE and having a place to stay for the both of you. Everything else will fall into place and come together.
Its also great that you were able to get away from what surely sounds like an abusive relationship. And surely not something you or your son need to be around. (That upheaval as well as the instability with having to move around could also be why your son might be acting aggressive at school?).... Especially since you stated that its typically not like him to be that way. As kids certainly tend to "act out" in different ways when they aren't feeling secure.
Its also good that you have a few supportive people in your life to help assist you in what you've called a "tight situation". Including the Tailor who helped you as well. ..... I think the most important things at this time are continuing to make sure that you and your child are provided for and safe. Relationships (both platonic or otherwise) come and go. If you are lucky to find "one" good friend in life that is there for you then you are blessed. It also sounds like that with all you've been through that you could also stand to talk with someone on a professional level (such as a therapist or counselor) just to help you sort through the things you have been through and dealt with for both you and your child. Also connecting with "family" who is there for you and supportive can be a helpful and positive thing for you both as well.
Perhaps also continue to focus on staying safe and healthy physically, mentally and emotionally. As well as personally. And maybe take some time away from putting thought into having any outside relationships at the moment? Until things are more stable for you both? As it sounds like you have a few supportive people who have been there for you and have offered some great support to you in your time of need, and maybe for now, thats all you need until everything else calms down for you and comes together? As sometimes we can put so much thought into relationships, trying to have a significant other, etc... that we aren't focusing on ourselves, and the things that we may actually truly need in the moment.
But we wish you much luck and positive vibes going forwards, and just know that we here at 7cups are here to support you however we can. And we appreciate you stopping by to check-in and let us know how things are going. Please continue to keep us updated on how things are going for you and your son.
Also please feel free to check out our other Communities here (Such as the LBGTQ Support, Relationship Support, Family Support, & Trauma Support if needed). There are many communities here that can offer you the Well-rounded support that may need during this time. And please take care!
@PoliteOcean Hi, thank you for your kind words!
Indeed, right now I am playing a waiting game until the taxes come in.
I checked the status, and it should take about 21 days from the day I submitted them, since it was late...So around the end of this month.
Hopefully, once I find a more stable place, my son will feel more relaxed. I thought removing him from the situation with military guy at least helped a bit...I hope. So, it's just me and him and I can focus on him.
I would LOVE to go to therapy, at the moment...not...quite plausible, but I do multiple support groups in real life as well as here. Therapy is definitely something I'll try again. It's just that I haven't had many good experiences in the past [ex. therapist answering phone calls in the middle of session, another therapist telling me I'm not depressed and to just "be happy" etc etc]. I see what you mean by family, yes, I am building my "chosen family" which is people I chose and aren't necessarily related by blood.
After I made this post...I reconsidered later to not bother with ANY type of romantic relationship...you're honestly right. Furthermore...I feel like I was doing it just to experience it, but not necessarily because I wanted it. I've been a loner almost all my life, and I'm OK with that. People find it weird that I would be the type to take myself out for dinner or got to the movies alone. I really don't mind. I'm going to continue building myself up honestly. I have SO many goals, and I'd rather not get distracted.
I occasionally joining a couple of the group chats such as Sharing Circle, General Support, & 24/7 Support. I look at the forums sometimes. I did make post in specific forums, but they don't really get viewed much depending on the forum...So I posted here for a bit of visibility and to perhaps get some advise/some assistance with my issues (which you have done, so I appreciate that!).
Anyhow, I just wanted to say you've been amazing Ocean, and I appreciate your kind words and support!
@ImpudentIncognito
You are so very welcome! And how very sweet of you, thank you for your kind words.
Thats great that the tax money is so close for you! Awesome.
I'm also glad to hear that you have reached out for professional support as well (even if it didn't always go as you desired)... sometimes its really about finding the one that you "mesh" with the best. Not every therapist or counselor is for "everybody".... So I Totally get and understand that. And hopefully (some day/one day) when it is more plausible for you to do so, and is needed, it can be something that you can look into again. But maybe just making the various changes that you are currently working on could also simply be what you need as well.
Loving ourselves can be challenging sometimes, and I find that you are truly amazing with being "ok" as you stated in enjoying "you"! (Whether dinners, movies or whatever it be). Its important to be comfortable with ourselves. And I love that you are continuing to 'build yourself up" in whatever ways that you are working on! And that you have vision and goals for yourself. Keep those close and in sight. You can do whatever you set your mind to do!
And I think its really awesome that you have found groups here that you are feeling comfortable with and that are helping to support you. Sharing circle is a great one to simply just unload your feelings and get positive support and feedback. And we are so glad that you also spent some time here in the forums (and more specifically Healthy Living)! And I'm so glad that you felt comfortable to share with us and that you felt supported here. We are here for you! <3
@nordurnStar
Hey there Star~ Thats great that you enjoyed your weekend and time with your husband (despite the stressors).
As far as family gatherings that is lovely that you have one approaching and looking forwards to seeing some of them. We won't always get along with 'All' of them, but its great to enjoy the ones that we do when the time comes. Especially making the best of it with those that you haven't had a chance to see in years. Enjoy!
Sometimes taking a step back, and returning to "projects" work or otherwise, can be what we need to refocus and refresh. Its no good to try to push ourselves when we are tired or feeling defeated with things.... I'm sure once you take the rest needed, that you will gain a better outlook and be able to push through and get things done before your event.
I see what you are saying in regards to "sweating"..... Sweat is sweat, but.... depending on what your goals are, there can surely be a better success behind it when you are 'Working" for that sweat (such as walking, or other physical activity where you are pushing yourself, working out etc....) As we walk, that is activity that can elevate our Heart-rates..., when we walk in the "heat" our bodies will compensate even more-so in that heat. (To be honest, I LOVE that as well and for the same reasons). As I feel even more accomplished.
I'm sure that despite the struggles that you are feeling, that you will manage to push through in one way or another.... As We are our own worst critics and critique ourselves more than anyone else can. But in the end, I'm sure you will meet the success that you are striving for.
Thank you for checking in and sharing with us. Please keep us updated on things and how your family holiday goes.
