**ANY & ALL "NEWBIES" ARE WELCOME TO SHARE!!**
**The past week went well, no complaints.... I kept on track with eating and workouts... Finding that even though I go to bed later at night, that I am still finding that my body wants to wake me up very early... So sleep has been rather strange for me. Thinking of possibly doing the sleeping meds that my provider mentioned, but I just don't want to rely on that for a good nights sleep...So not certain what I am going to do yet about that..... My knees are feeling MUCH better than they were all last week.... Anxiety mildly up due to different stressors so need to address that as well...
**My regular Zumba class was low in attendance as it was FRIDGID the night I taught it, so it wasn't a big crowd that time of evening (compared with last week) so it was a little disappointing... My Zumba GOLD classes have been picking up again with participants who are finally coming back from different "ailments"... and POUND class was pretty Awesome this past week, with NEW people in attendance as well!....It pretty much was Chilly and Rainy ALL week, until finally "today", I was able to get out and get in a walk with my mom again!...
**I've decided to take off the next week of teaching my classes so that I can get caught up on things, get ready for the Christmas season and get decorations up.... as well as Spend time with Family, and work on New Choreo for all of my classes. So, I guess technically its not "truly" going to be a week off....
....
**Today is my FREE day, though Its not truly going to be "Free" as I do have some errands to run.... but first, my intentions are to attend the Bi-monthly POUND class at the local warehouse to get in some type of activity for the day before going to do errands. Just hoping to get all the things accomplished that I need to take care of "today"~
ENJOY YOUR WEEKEND EVERYONE~![]()
@PoliteOcean

@PoliteOcean
It's very inspirational that you're taking the week off for you.
I hope your sleep improves. I imagine that's got to be frustrating to be walking up so early.
Have a great weekend!
@SentientiaPoecile
Thank you very much for the kind words!... And yes, not feeling like I am getting enough sleep can be a little frustrating.. But on the otherhand, it nice to get up early and get a "jump-start" on the day and all that I have to get done...
It would be nice though If I could get my body to lay down earlier though to even it all out on how many hours I'm actually getting of rest! lol...
Thanks again, and I hope you enjoyed your weekend as well!
Keeping up with exercise and healthy eating. Had some snow this week, but was able to get all the yard work done the week before. I do not mind cold weather, but can do without snow. All the yard cleaning has my allergies acting up. May go for a quick checkup to see if any relief. Getting ready for Thanksgiving. Will be guests which makes prep easy. This will be the first test for keeping on track. I hope I will stay on track with moderation. House projects are on track and made good progress. Overall things are going well, since holidays can get stressful with all the rushing around. Enjoy your weekend and holiday.
@sail46
Hey Sail!... Its great that you are continuing to keep up with everything... I can't believe you've already gotten some snow. Sometimes I think whats the point in it being so cold though, if theres NOT going to be any snow!?! lol.... If it isn't going to snow, then just give me my summer weather back please! lol...
Sorry to hear that you are suffering from allergies, I think its the same here for me as well.... Have you tried any over the counter products or an air humidfier to see if those help?
I keep thinking of you more as the "Thanksgiving" holiday approaches... believe it or not, you continue to inspire me as well by staying on track, when I think of how so "off" track we both got last year... I do intend to enjoy all things but as you said within moderation too... Will see how it goes. Thats all we can do. The worst is that we go a little overboard.... but even better is that we don't "settle" into it, and get right back on track the next day!....
Its good that your projects are coming along.. I'm hoping to keep up with and continue to get all mine done this week.. hopefully by tomorrow at the latest!. Continue to keep up all the great work that you are doing! You are doing so well!...... Meet you at the end of the week, so we can see how the Thanksgiving "test" went! lol...Enjoy the rest of your week and your holiday, and thanks so much for checking in this week to let us know how things have been going for you!
This week I am still up a couple of pounds in weight from last weekend's celebrations. Not where I wanted to be going into Thanksgiving! We had carryout from the little French restaurant near us last night too, yummy but not that healthy. I will try to eat well from now until Thursday! I had been walking at the park at least once a week after work until the time changed. My plan now is to go to the Y one or two afternoons. I hate going there after work. I much prefer mornings, but it will get me more exercise. I went yesterday for my first winter exercise session and did 30 minutes of cardio. I would so much rather be outside walking! I really wish we would not do the time change thing anymore! I hope to add some light weights once a week to my afternoon sessions. I have lost a lot of upper body strength in the past couple of years because of my neck and shoulder issues keeping me from doing anything but very light weights anymore. I now have the middle aged woman flappy arms, something I thought I would never have when I was doing powerlifting :-( My core strength needs work too, so I have some things to work on, and hopefully will have the time on Friday afternoons, so this could be a productive winter if I work hard.
@SadMe70
Hey there Sad!..So glad to see you this week.. You sound so motivated!..... I know what you mean about not wanting to go "into" Thanksgiving with "added" pounds... My Son invited me out to Lunch today after our double-dental appointments together... and we went to our Favorite Italian eatery. I swore I would do well and stay on plan with a "smart" choice.. but.. just didn't happen. (Those darn breadsticks)! lol....But I did eat Alot of salad.. That has to count for something lol...I'm like you and just trying to have the plan of doing better until Thanksgiving is actually here. Keep going, we can do this!
Its great that you have been able to get out and walk more!.. Awesome!... And I love how you are making a "Plan" to try to continue to do so and stay on track! I never liked doing any activity after work either... it feels so draining, however, I'm not a morning person either. It about killed me to get out of bed just to go to work, so I just couldn't muster energy to go before hand either. At least not often. I use to love the time change when I was younger, but now that I'm older, I have to agree that it would be so much nicer if it just stayed the way it was, and get darker later. I feel so much more productive when it does.
I think its awesome that you are looking at trying to add weights to your plan. Those can certainly do so much... add strength, and more muscle mass to help with metabolism and burning more calories as well.... I hope that this is something that you can do for yourself. You've inspired me to pick it up more too!.. Because I know I need to do so myself. I've become the "Cardio Queen" again, and have put weights on the back-burner once again, and I need to stop that. And lets not even talk about those "Middle-age Flabby arm syndrome"!.... ugh!!.. Its like they just "appear" out of nowhere??!! Like what the heck? Where did you come from??!!!! But I do wish you the BEST of luck of putting it all together, and working your plan! Please continue to let us know how that is going for you and what is working for you, or where you feel you might need some help even!...... Keep up your awesome Mind-set and you will accomplish your goals no doubt!... Thank you so much for checking in this week and letting us know how things are going for you!
** How has everyone been doing since last week?!
Hi. I have had an up and down, emotionally speaking, week. Nothing horrific, just processing and life situations changing. aka: life happens.
But despite this unknow that is around, and life changing, and healing making me feel really difficult things ( but also a lot of good this week) ...I have to say that overall - I am doing really good <3
** What are some positive things that happened for you over this past week? What are some healthy things that you did for yourself?
Hmmm, positive things this week:
Started to gather decorations for the holidays and in jolly mood instead of feeling bad,
I got a NEW job with an old client I really like,
I have ALREADY set up boundaries before the hours are finalized that I will only work 5x a week and not be avalible 24-7,
This new job is in perfect time bc I wanted money to be able to afford my family a nice Christmas ( was worried I would not be able to),
My aunt is being supportive of me and going to my client that passed away's funeral with me today.
and ... I have stayed mindful this week for the most part and when SH urged came up out of the blue - I allowed them to be there but didn't act on them!
Healthy things for myself:
putting up boundaries,
went to see the opera.
sleep hygine routine,
lots of "me" time taking baths at night
when things change in my life really fast and make my head spin, I didn't freak out - I allowed this to just alter and change my rountine and schedle.
I asked for what I weanted and needed - work wise,
avoided a fight with my sister
and, I am not putting myself in situations that are not emotionally healthy for me....like deciding to not see sis and dad's family for Thanksgiving.
**In what ways can you make the coming week ahead a good one for yourself? In what ways can you prepare for that? What would be the "Perfect" week for you?
Going to make this a great week for me by:
allowing things to be and not freaking out when my schedule or plans change - be open,
making " me" time every da y - during day or early evening - no longer late night so that I can finally sleep,
Enjoy working my new job, stay present, compassionite and mindful,
put away money for christmas gifts each week's checks so that I will not have to worry about having less funds for Christmas
I guess its not really about preperation with me - it is just DOING it....
and there is no perfect week - I am just open to all the new positive opportunities that come when I am not so strict in planning every second of my life :p
**How many of you are preparing for the Thanksgiving Holiday in the up-coming week ahead? What will your plans consist of?
yes yes yes - and no.
My aunt, who I live with - goes to her sister's deceased brother's family....
I REFUSE to go out of self care because they are very judgmental, snobby and the biggest reason: her brother was my childhood abuser.
...
and my father's side are all diet/weight/ED obsessed and are having a keto Thanksgiving ( lolololol - omg)
And whenever I see my dad he tells me to only eat veggies and go workout ...they are VERY weight concious to the EXRTEME)
SO, to save my sanity ....I am NOT going there either....
Thanksgiving day I am by myself ( or working with new client) and eating what I want, watching what I want, meditating, and enjoying my sane company! :P ... my aunt does a Thanksgiving dinner with me on Saturday :D
**What have been your "highlights" this past week? What are your weekend plans?
Highlights this past week:
got a new job
got rid of an different job I did not want
did a LOT of DEEP trauma healing with trauma specialist/pychologist/reiki healer.
hahaha - avoided calling back my reiki client ( i dont know why)
been mpore slow and gentle with myself
have not slept more then 2-3 hours - if any at all, a night
Had SH urges - did NOT act on them
feel very supported:)
Weekend plans:
funeral for my old client ( today)
talk about the role I have, hours and pay for my new client
meet with new client ( who is really an awesome old client)...and start work
SLEEP, more than 3 hours - each and every night this weekend - make time for me time in day - not, middle of night
figure out, finally - what insurance ( health) is best ( lots of research) and join that plan for next year!
Finally put away / hang up clothes in my room ( from the dance they do that goes - on the floor - on the treadmill - on the bed)
**What things would YOU like to talk about or share with us?! WE want to hear from YOU!!
If anyone is around for Thanksgiving here...or alone for thanksgiving.....or cant handle the fam for too long - I am here with ya! Ill be on cups for cupsgiving <3. You are not alone.
@blissedNblessed
Hey there Blissed! Its so great to hear from you this week!...
I'm glad to see that even through typical life issues, that over-all you are really good!.. That is great to hear.
And wow! It sounds like you have had alot of positive things happen for you recently and alot to be or feel grateful for!...Its great that you are feeling in a good/jolly mood, getting up decorations, and working with a client that makes makes you feel good about what you do!...And even better, its awesome for you that you will be a position to be able to afford a nice Christmas Holiday for your family.
Its good for you that you are getting the support you need from your aunt as well... its nice when we are able to have the support of others in our lives when we can really use it the most. Also, congrats to you on being able to say "No" to certain situations that are emotionally unhealthy for you!... Thats a big step that sometimes people find challenging to make. But you did it!
I think its awesome that you are going to allow yourself to be in a healthy mental place that will allow yourself to be "Open" to change... That is a really challenging one for "me" personally!.. But I continue to work on that one myself. Kuddos to you!
Hmmmmm Your family Thanksgiving sounds really "interesting"! lol.. A "KETO THANKSGIVING"!.. Thats a new one for me!... But in this day in age, I'm sure absolutely NOT un-heard of lol........ But I'm sorry that you are in the middle of these family situations... I'm sure that is something that has been very challenging for you to deal with. But... I see that you are obviously in a healthy place and "head-space" about all of it... And know what is good for "YOU"!
Seems like you've had a lot of Hightlights over the past week as well!.. May I ask what "Type" of job that you are doing or have? I'm trying to "guess" but still unsure lol....And its awesome that you are taking "time" for yourself, self care and "healing" time are very important. And its awesome that you did not SH! YAY!!!
I really LOVE your check-in this week.. I found myself really relating to ALOT of things that you said, or are going through, or dealing with, or simply trying to find healing and balance in!.... I hope that you are able to get the sleep that you need! I know that is something I continue to work on myself. Good luck to you!....
Thank you so much for checking in! I really enjoyed reading your post, and I hope that you continue to check in and let us know how you've been doing!... And thank you for being here and offering to support so many here this week! You are truly a blessing to them!
@PoliteOcean
thank you so much for your wonderful reply to me.
I have already forgotten a few of the questions you asked me - sorry - its 1 am :p
But , as far as work, I do 2 things.
1. a reiki energy healer
2. a companion ( caregiver minus the medical care) for the elderly, special needs, emotional needs and memory care ( alzhiemers)
Right now I have a really bad back issue - so I am doing companionships because I can not stand and do the hand positions for reiki with out pain.
Sadly, a few days ago I attended a funeral for my last client :(
She was NOT that old - but had very advanced alzhiemers.
Then today - I found out that an older client ( as in one I worked extensivly with a year ago who had dementia, anxiety, depression and panic attacks so could not live alone) now has alzhiemrs AND worse mental health issues. I was going to work with her again - but she was in the hospital today and got a physch eval - and ended up being taken to the hospital for mental health treatment - she can no longer live alone I do not think.....
but, just when I was going to freak about where christmas money would come from ....i get a call about a young girl needing rides 4x a week - since I do not really work with kids - I am assuming she has severe emotional , cognative , or both, issues. I am really looking forward to this job. Wish me luck - I am calling tomorrow ( this morning? lol)about more info on the client and situation to see if it is a good fit for me .
I am really glad that so much of what I had to say, touched you in some way that you could realte.....its always better to know we are not alone and that others " get " us and are or have been there.
And hahaha, yes, keto thanksgiving.
And sis keeps sending me youtube vids of the keto diet explained.
okay - i KNOW i have to lose weight - but here is the thing....
i have an ED ( it just jumps around from anorexia, bulima to overeating - then the cycle starts again - this is my life) - the WHOLE fam knows this, WHY in the world would they invite me to diet thanksgiving? I am actually angry at that. BUT - to hell with them....I am an adult and I am chooseing to have a me time thanksgiving celebration with NO DRAMA. ...a cups giving! ( ill be here)
Plus - still have the non keto diet in my face trigger thanksgiving with my aunt on saturday, yay!
@blissedNblessed
Hey there Blissed!...
So nice of you to respond back.... I am a "Nurse", so I really do understand alot of what you are saying, working with our patients/clients. Its a challenging field of work, whether we are caregivers Licensed or "not"!.. Its all the same, we all give "care" and provide that companionship that they might not otherwise have elsewhere.. And the BIGGEST part, in my opinion, is when we can get 'emotionally' attached to these people!.... Nobody tells you that part.....but it happens. And is the biggest "blow" when something happens to them, and we have to face it as well.
You are such a blessing to all of your clients just please always know and remember that!!....
I do remember that you had ED, and I was actually appalled for you when I read that your family is trying to push their dietary opinions upon you.. Whether its Keto or otherwise... That is just simply not a healthy thing to do to a person emotionally who has gone through what you have. I too have been there myself in my younger years. So I can understand that and relate to "family pressures" of it all!... I AM TRULY just so proud of you that you are taking a 'Stand" for yourself through all of this and remaining positive and mentally/emotionally strong for yourself!!...... Whatever you are doing to remain positive, and in a good place, Keep on doing it!! Because you are doing an amazing job!... Not everyone can be so strong all the time... But you are doing great!![]()
And BEST WISHES to you on your NEW JOB!!! You've got this and you will do Great!!!.....
@PoliteOcean
yeah, it is so hard when we get attatched, and yup - no one even talks to us about that. and it is hard to NOT be attatched - its a human condition.
and omg - its horrible about keto thanksgiving....im getting texts and calls daily - even though i said no, im working...that i should come.
but since i gained weight - the last time i saw them - they did nothing but tell me what food to not eat ( sygar, salt, fat, grease, meat, fish, carbs)...just east salad ( no dresing) and veggies ( plain). roflmao.
I can just imagine Tday - everyone eats the tiny bites of food - and stares me down to make sure i only eat veggies - plain.
Would not be thanks giving day, rather, shame giveing day.
I do not need that crap.
and ahh, the job fell through 2 job that did..
im getting hopless.
im not using grocery money that I WORK for ( 40/week) for just coffee, non fat creamer and the rest saved for a few cigs and for christmas savings.
because if my aunt doesnt get christmas prestents she will freak out and say i ruined christmas.
and if my dads fam does get them - them will talk crap about me ( and yes - in front of my face)...yet - they give me dollar store things and trash crap found in their house.
I wish i could PICK my family.
So much fooood! I always aim to try everything in small portions including dessert. Also encourage the family to take a long walk after eating.
@Zengrl
Hey there!..
Sounds like you are doing well to take "small portions" of all the things that you are wanting! That is an AWESOME start to doing well at staying on plan or track. And even better that you try to encourage others around you to go get in some type of activity afterward and what better way than to take a nice walk!... Thats awesome!... Thank you so much for checking in this week and keep up the great work!
@PoliteOcean I managed that way last year—crossing my fingers for this year. Thanks for the encouragement!
Im working right through the holidays this year...or I hope? It is new employment... Im living in a motel that the employer has provided... I checked out the gym... I should do that? Its fun to see all the new motel customers filter down to breakfast while I drink Coffee.
@PeterJC
Hey there!
Its great that your employer is paying for the hotel your staying in!.. Kind of like a "Free" vacation in a way right?!... I think its great that you are wanting to go check out the gym there!.. That is something I seldom get to do when I go away or get to stay somewhere, (is check out the fitness center).... So thats a great start!..
Thanks so much for checking in this week letting us know how things are going for you!
By eating candy canes & hot coco & not giving a {Edited by PoliteOcean due to language} lmao

@PoliteOcean
** How has everyone been doing since last week?!
Better... I think!
** What are some positive things that happened for you over this past week? What are some healthy things that you did for yourself?
I got back into my diet for the most part.
**In what ways can you make the coming week ahead a good one for yourself? In what ways can you prepare for that? What would be the "Perfect" week for you?
I can figure out how to work in an exercise routine into my schedule with the kids. I can attempt to have them exercise with me?? (Oh Lawd help me!) Yeah, perfect week would be figuring out how to balance kid stuff and cleaning stuff and work stuff with everyone stuff...
**How many of you are preparing for the Thanksgiving Holiday in the up-coming week ahead? What will your plans consist of? Me! Me! So we're totally going to go camping and try to make a [mostly] complete Thanksgiving dinner... camping... yeah!
**What have been your "highlights" this past week? What are your weekend plans?
Week has been productive, not too exciting. Weekend will be (is) about planning, packing, and having some fun (video games).
@SentientiaPoecile
Hey there! ... So glad to hear that things are better this week!
Its awesome that you are getting back into your diet plan and wanting to get healthier..........
I hope that you are able to figure out how to find the balance that you are looking for between working out and the kids as well... It can be done. You must make time for "yourself"
Perhaps sitting down and taking some time to think out how you would do that, writing it all down, and how it could work... Sometimes just looking at the "big" picture. You only need 30 minutes a day if you can work that in!.... Just start small!...
Its great that you had a productive week, and enjoy your Thanksgiving/Camping day!!... Good luck to you on making that complete dinner! Check back next week and let us know how all of that went for you!.. Thanks so much for checking in this week and letting us know how things have been going for you!
