**This past week has gone well..... .My leg is nearly healed, and I was able to actually teach all Four of my Fitness classes in a week for the first time in weeks. My activity and water have begun to increase again. Sleep went well for the most part.
**The weather has still been totally amazing here. Mild and sunny. We were able to attend "Two" Fall festivals last Saturday. While it went pretty well and we totally enjoyed the day, I guess I was a bit disappointed to see all the people who were out and about at the 'first' festival we went to, without masks....and not much social distancing measures in place. More were without masks, than they were with them. The 2nd one we went to was much smaller, and only a small 'fraction' of people were there. So Much better Social distancing. While I believe that we need to live our lives and to each their own, but I still feel that people should be more responsible (for their own health as well as that of their families and others around them) until we are at a better situation where I am. The reports have continued to go back and forth. So therefore, due to the gov't we have running this place here, we have NO clue what the "real deal" is. All the more reason for ppl to be more responsible here. But only some are still doing it.
**Received some great news regarding a Fitness prospect... however, its not quite where I need it to be, so still trying to work that out. Prayerfully will get that worked out in the coming week ahead. Good vibes this way please~
**My Birthday falls during the week.. so Gonna celebrate today instead with family this afternoon. So looking forward to time with all of us together.
@PoliteOcean
Hope you had a happy B-day and get fully better soon.
I've been unable to reply on forums for a while due to "tripping a rules circuit breaker" here perhaps
or perhaps it was just a technical issue.
But now I'm back. Good to see you are getting better.
Here is an idea for you to create more Fitness prospects.
The idea is host virtual exercise events on EventBrite using Zoom like Claire does here as an example
https://www.eventbrite.com/o/claire-dempster-29366358561
Claire does it for free as a beginner, but other people charge per exercise session they host.
Eventbrite handles the ticketing. The event host like Claire provides a Zoom link to the attendees who register via Eventbrite.
After a person gets good at hosting events and works out all the technical issues, they can eventually be good enough to charge for sessions rather than make them freebies.
It's just an idea I though you might appreciate.
@7motivation
Thanks so much for the Birthday wishes and well-wishes too!.. Greatly appreciated.
And thanks for the information regarding Eventbrite. I do know what that is and have used it before as a patron...But have not done so as a Host or Instructor. I will have to take a further look into. I'm not so tech-savvy when it comes to things like that, and it can be challenging. But Its surely another prospect that i can take a further look at. Thanks for the info!
Also, I hope that you got whatever issue it was here at 7cups sorted out! Glad that you're back!
@PoliteOcean
No workout this week. Almost sedentary. But got my new running shoes today 😍
Will start jogging and calisthenics tomorrow. Yayyy 🤩
@DonaldDraper
Sometimes we need to just "not do anything" and be "sedentary" even if just temporary! As long as we don't stay there. But sometimes we just need that self care time.~
I love NEW running shoes. Maybe a little bit "too much"!... But it always gets me "pumped" and ready to get moving again! Hope they do the same for you!
Thanks @PoliteOcean. They did 😃
@PoliteOcean
**Hey Everyone~How have things gone for you this past week?
~ I stayed at home for most of the week as I was a bit sick. That though ment that I had plenty of time for self-care, and I really used that time for journaling, cooking healthy meals, general self-care. So the week went well for me!
**We have only "One" more week left in OCTOBER! It sure has gone by so fast!... How do you plan to spend the last week ahead?
~ So next week it's all about prepping up for my upcoming confirmation next week. So I am very excited (and nervous!) and still have to figure a couple things out for that. I'm also excited, because I am going to visit my grandparents and we are going to spend some time cooking something together❤️
**What "Healthy Habit" have you worked on this past week? How did it make you feel Physically, mentally, & emotionally?
I worked on getting back on track kind of - as in the week before I didn't really spend my day and self-care as I wanted to. I started my morning and evening routines again and what I worked on especially is journaling. It made me feel really relieved and more organized and after doing so i felt more calm and not so nervous.
**JUST FOR FUN: What is YOUR favorite "HALLOWEEN" (or Scary Movie)?! If you don't watch Halloween/Scary movies, What is "YOUR" Favorite October tradition?!
I don't usually watch scary movies much at all, but I watched a couple and I have to say the best one was Conjuring 2.. :o
**What have been your "Highlights or Struggles" this past week? What were you able to do to work through the struggles?
My ✨highlight ✨ for this week was my piano lesson (yes, maybe sounds boring, but it really wasn't haha!), it was a lot of fun! My struggles were that I was a bit scared that I failed all my self-care plans and failed my whole journey in just becoming healthier and happier, because I was so off track. It made me kind of sad to be honest. But in the end it's all about not giving up and that having some not so great few days in a journey is not failure, it's just part of the process.
**What would "YOU" like to talk about or share with us about your Week?! WE want to hear from "YOU"~![]()
All in all, my week went pretty good!
In this week I started learning guitar, and I'm really enjoying it, so let's see where that journey takes me! ❤️
@aLightInTheDark3
Hey there!... So sorry to hear that you weren't feeling well .. but glad to hear that you were able to have that self care time to just take care of "you" and your needs.
Congrats on your upcoming confirmation! Hope everything goes well for you. And how awesome that you will get to visit and spend time with your grandparents! Sounds very nice and exciting.
How awesome that you spent time working to get back on track with things!.. Its really great when we have a "routine" for ourselves. And its great that you are taking the time to journal! And its even better that it all made you 'feel good'! As that what its all about.
Keep up the great work that you are doing!
Conjuring 2 was pretty good!.. I know it seems split on who likes scary movies and who doesn't. I know some people don't and then theres people like myself who can't get enough! lolol..
How nice that you play the piano! My son plays the piano as well (self taught, no lessons)... I've always wanted to play it like a pro, but .. oh well. lol...don't think that will happen now. How long have you been taking lessons for?! How exciting.
I LOVE your outlook... that despite the struggles of trying to live a healthier lifestyle (as yes, there will be those days or times when we get off track. Sometimes longer or much longer than we'd like)... BUT.. its awesome that you realize that we don't have to stay there! And to NOT give up!.. To keep going and pushing towards your goals. It took me a long time to learn that not every day will be 100%. But that we just need to keep trying. So try not to beat yourself up too much, as you have made a really great realization! And with that realization, you are sure to go far AND succeed!
How cool that you are also learning guitar! (Yet another thing that I tried to learn, but didn't go over very well) I always envisioned myself playing like a "Rockstar" one day. lololol... Very cool for you. And its great that overall your week went well for you!. Thanks so much for checking in and letting us know how you are doing! Please continue to check back and keep us up to date!
@PoliteOcean
Thank you so much for your lovely reply, Ocean, I enjoyed reading it!
Aw that's great that your son plays the piano too! Yeah, you don't have to necessarily have lessons, there are some amazing youtube channels or apps that teach you piano and those are good too! I started out self taught just like him, but after my 7 year old self realized that I did not have the patience to complete a youtube tutorial (which was wayyy to hard as I was trying out for 'River flows in you' kind of stuff lol!) my mom signed me up for lessons. So I have been playing for about 8 years now :))
Yesss, Conjuring 2 was very good! It's so cool to see you enjoying horror movies actually! Which one is your favourite one??
I really also love the way you talked about getting back on track - that was a really amazing way to word it and you are totally right. It's not easy, but we sometimes just have to push through!
I'm wishing you a great week and I just saw that it was your birthday and I wanted to wish you a very happy birthday and all the very best!
The week has gone by insanely fast for me! Being busy definitely makes time fly. In the next week, I plan to get a good chunk of assignments done.
@PoliteOcean Here's how the past week went. Monday I had a therapy appointment. Generally speaking, over the long run, therapy is helping me, but this particular session was unproductive.
I'm still waiting for my upgrade in meds from my doctor to help me with my nightmares. I'm also haven't yet received my "remedy" from my homeopath. I called them twice but they haven't gotten back to me. I have an online girlfriend Michelle, but I'm not even sure if I can call her my girlfriend yet. We exchange romantic emoji's on a regular basis, but over the internet, that doesn't mean very much. I re-united with a long lost friend on 7 cups, so that felt good. I'm studying mathematics, but it's more of a refresher course, not strenuous, but that's okay because I did plenty of that in college. My ulitmate goal is to go into art administration with a business emphasis. I finished my series on Zephaniah, Haggai and Malachi. I'm going to start I Kings this week. My house manager is going to try to take me shopping but she only wants to give me one ride per month. I need to get a blood test and haircut also, but I hate going out with her because she is so terrible with time management.
I'm still without a caretaker.
@Regmo
Hey there!... Sorry to hear that your therapy session was not helpful this past week. Its difficult to feel like you are making such progress in getting the help you need to only have a not-so-helpful session to make you feel and think otherwise. (Even if just in the moment). I hope that you are able to get your meds soon and your 'remedy'. Seems like they need have been taking their time with that. I know when that happens to me I have to stay on top of it, because sometimes things like that just seem to fall between the cracks and everyone blames the other for things not getting done. Sounds like things are going nicely for you so far with your "friend" Michelle! Thats great. Just continue taking your time and enjoying getting to know each other. Thats always the really fun part. New relationships and new discoveries getting to learn about one another. How cool for you that you that you re-united with a old friend of yours here at 7cups! How awesome. Sounds like you are doing nicely with your studies and that you have a lot of great goals planned for yourself ahead! Good for you! Keep up the great work that you are doing. How nice that your house manager can take you shopping. But seems like they could be a little more open to maybe at least twice a month or Bi-weekly... Once a month I wouldn't think would be often enough.
..... Hopefully that will change!..I hope that you are able to get the blood test and haircut that you need and that things improve and you are able to get another caregiver or that the one you had is able to come back sooner rather than later! You need that assistance. I hope maybe your social worker can help in some way with that? Usually its within their description to help with things like that. Thanks so much for always checking in to keep us updated on things and how you are continuing to do! Please continue to check back that way we know you are doing alright! Continue to take care and talk to you soon.
Heya!
Things haven’t gone too well this past week, actually for the past weeks since a bit now… It just feels like I’m struggling to keep my head above water. I’m both mentally tired due to working with a very upsetting person on a technique that I don’t like, and I can’t manage to make other parts of my project move much while I’m stuck in this position… It just feels draining, and I’m also physically exhausted as I’ve been doing more hours to still try and do a bit of the stuff I want to do aside from working with this person, but I end up doing 12hrs of work per day -which my directors surely wouldn’t approve of if they knew- so I can’t really keep that up… But it’s upsetting as there are some results that I reallyyyyyy want to know but I don’t have enough time to finish the experiment and get the results..!
On a positive note though, we went out with a few people from my lab the other day, which is nice especially as we’re now under curfew so that was one last evening out before a while!
Next week I have a presentation for a seminar, that I haven’t prepared yet as I’ve been in denial about it lol I really should get on with it! So this will be what I’ll try to do during the rest of my weekend, as well as resting.
For the last week of October, I’m really hoping to catch up with things and not let myself get drained, I’m hoping to start working out again if I have enough time for it. I managed to finally clean and order my place so hopefully I can keep it tidy for the week!
Thanks for this check-in!
@LinearWaves
Hey there Waves.. sorry to hear that things have been so challenging and draining for you lately. It can be so very difficult to be stuck working with a person that just isn't a great fit for us to be around. That there in itself is the draining part. And can just cloud our whole work day with exhausting negativity. Not sure if you have the option of being able to talk to your supervisor about any of it? Or explain the situation? Not sure if it will help any, but I think I'd rather take my chances than to keep feeling that way. But, hopefully things will resolve soon for you soon with this situation. Especially if you are doing so many hours and know that they wouldn't approve of it. If its because of this particular person you are working with, perhaps it might be best to speak up? But... only you know what is best to do for yourself in this situation.
Thats great that you were at least able to get together with others and have a good time AND Blow off some steam!...You say that you are on a curfew now? Is this because of Covid? Or something else?
Hopefully you will find that you are able to get things in order and prepared for you upcoming seminar! And that you will be able to continue to catch up with things including your workouts!
Thanks so much for checking in despite how busy you've been. Its always great to see you and hear from you. Hopefully things will have improved for you a bit the next time you check in!.. Take care!
@PoliteOcean
Thank you for your kind words <3
My supervisors are aware of it, she’s a problem in the lab, draining and upsetting for everyone working with her… But we need the results and she’s the one “owning” the material so yeah… It’s just really upsetting as it’s the kind of person telling you how open to discussion they are but they don’t actually listen and think they know better on everything. But yeah thankfully my supervisors are aware of it so at least they’re supportive!
Yes the curfew is due to the covid, the numbers are getting pretty bad again in France so we’ll see what happens next..!
Thank you again for your kind and supportive words, it’s always lovely and encouraging! Take care too!
@PoliteOcean
Hey Everyone~How have things gone for you this past week? Pretty good :)
**We have only "One" more week left in OCTOBER! It sure has gone by so fast!... How do you plan to spend the last week ahead? work and some Halloween celebrating
**What "Healthy Habit" have you worked on this past week? How did it make you feel Physically, mentally, & emotionally? I have been watching what I eat more
**JUST FOR FUN: What is YOUR favorite "HALLOWEEN" (or Scary Movie)?! If you don't watch Halloween/Scary movies, What is "YOUR" Favorite October tradition?! I love the movie Halloween. I just love curling up and watching Halloween movies
**What have been your "Highlights or Struggles" this past week? What were you able to do to work through the struggles? Highlights are always seeing my boyfriend. I can't think of any big struggles this week :)
@Mellietronx
Hey there Mellie! Great to see you this week.
Thats great that you are going to be celebrating Halloween this week. Lots of people are trying to figure out whats going on with Trick or Treating, but seems like everyone is making it work in some sort of way. What type of plans will you be making for your Hallloween?!
How awesome that you are working on watching what you eat! .. I wish it wasn't so challenging at times. This time of year doesn't make it very easy. But, you've got this!
I Love the HALLOWEEN movie as well!. I like the Original version best.... And I love getting all cozy and watching them as well. I love the fact that its at least on a Saturday this year.
How great for you that you haven't had many struggles this past week! How awesome! Thanks so much for stopping by to check in this week and letting us know how things have been going with you. Always great to hear from you!
So this week I've found it increasingly hard to get out of bed. I thought it was lack of motivation so I went to my counseling service who told me in turn to check with my GP. I have anemia again and a D3 deficiency. It was actually detected back in August but with my hip problem, it didn't get treated in the middle of all the other stuff happening, so I'm finally treating it 2 months later. I now have my Iron and D3 supplements and I hope I feel better soon, but it usually takes at least a month for this sort of thing to correct itself.
I've started an emotions journal with my peer counselor to try and figure out what makes me happy and how often I am happy or sad. When I am happy I feel like I've always been happy; when I am depressed I feel like I've always been depressed, so estimates based on my memory can be hard to use to figure out how often I really feel one way or another.
I've decided to give away my meditation cushions since I can't sit on them on the floor. I don't know who to give them to though. This would help in 2 ways. I may have a place to go soon, but I'd likely only have a little room, so I need to get rid of things that I can. There's still a room to clean, since it has the roommate's stuff in it before I would be able to move in, but hopefully I might have a place to move to. It probably won't have internet though which could be a problem. Its nearby and centrally located so I'd still be able to walk places. Also, getting rid of the cushions would help me be more true to my resolve not to keep things I can't use.
With any luck I go to church in the morning.
Handing out candy to trick-or-treaters was a major part of my Halloween traditions, but won't happen this year. Last year even without COVID19 none of the candy was taken that I put outside, so I ended up eating it myself. For 14 years watching scary movies was also a big part of things because my other half was really into horror. The year before I split with him I made an extra effort to watch as many horror movies as I could in Sept/Oct to try to educate myself in something he loved.
I think this year I am watchng Ghostly K-Dramas like Oh My Ghostess, Mystic Pop Up Bar, and Hotel del Luna.. and on Halloween I will watch 4 movies: Practical Magic, Hocus Pocus, Beetlejuice, and Gremlins. I've never seen them before and they're all considered 'classics' but they're definitely toned down from the Adult gut wrenching gore horror genre.
@berryfields2409
Hey there!.. So sorry to hear that you were feeling so bad, but its really great that they were able to get things addressed and realized what had you feeling that way . And that you now getting treated for it. Hopefully you will start to feel better sooner rather than later!
How great for you that you have started your journaling to figure out your moods and patterns! Thats a great idea! Hopefully it can help improve things for you in the long run!
Perhaps you could sell your mood cushions and benefit financially if someone else can use them? You could maybe find a group online that you could try? Good luck with everything regarding your move! I hope that its a good move for you! And I hope that the whole internet thing can be figured out some way?! But its great for you that its in a location that is workable for you!
Sorry to hear that your Halloween tradition won't be the same for you this year. Seems like for me where I live, that each year the trick or treater crowd gets smaller and smaller. I think its because all the kids around here are growing up and find other things to do? I don't know. And sorry to hear about your movie tradition as well.
I have only seen one of the movies you mentioned and that was "Gremlins"... that was actually a pretty good movie and I enjoyed it. I'm sure you will too!... Thanks so much for checking in this week and letting us know how things have been going for you! Always nice to hear from you! Hope things continue to go well for you. Take care!
Hi everyone!
I am a new listener. This week has gone really well for me. I have learned a lot on this sight and have felt like I helped people. I have also been studying extra for my college classes. I am excited to be working towards my degree faster than I ever thought possible. I enjoy watching newer scary movies with my kids on the weekends in October. However, my all time favorite(s) will always be Friday the 13th! Happy Halloween everyone!
@ChristinaK4
Hey there! Welcome to 7cups!
How great that your week has gone really well for you and that you are continuing to learn alot here! Good for you! And yes, it can feel so good when we help people here. Sometimes it can be therapuetic for ourselves to do so!
Good for you for keeping up with your studies and keeping up with working on your degree. How exciting for you!
How fun to spend time with your kiddos watching some good Halloween movies. I miss those days as mine is grown and out the house. But... I still catch them with the hubby! lol... And yes Friday the 13th is just a classic and a must watch! lol...Enjoy Halloween with your kids and making memories!
Thanks so much for checking in this week to let us know how you've been doing!
@PoliteOcean
The challenge that I've struggled with is exercise and physical activity, and that becomes more challenging as it gets colder. One strategy that occurs to me is to regard the cooling weather as less of an obstacle.
