*My week was okay. I made some steps to getting a therapist.. after the student one did not work out. My dad has offered to help pay for it and is willing to work on making our relationship better. I have an appointment on Wednesday with a therapist I think I will get along better with. I have not been able to exercise much because my energy level is so low but I went to the gym once and took my dog on some short walks. These made me feel better and I hope I can get a bit more active this week; maybe try going for a bike ride. I still haven't made it into the yoga studio but I'm tellling myself that is okay for now. I might try this week to go in but am detaching for the mental requirement to do it.
** October is a big month of change for me. Some major changes in important relationships in my life has been a theme. I'm working on trying to lean into these and allow myself to feel supported by them but IT IS HARD. I try to remind myself frequently that I am worthy of support and love, this is a constant battle in my mind but hopefully eventually it will feel more natural. I took some steps to finding work and feel good about it but am also battling the feeling of it not being enough.
** So far this month I'm thankful for the weather cooling down so I can spend more time outside. We've had some beautiful sunny days and cold nights which is helping my mood. I'm also thankful for my dog encouraging me to go on walks even when I don't feel like it.
**I didn't do anything for Mental Health Awareness Week. I was admittedly feeing too stuck in my own head to do anything for it. Something I did for myself this week was taking a hot bath. For my overall mental well-being I have been reading a new book called "Emotional Detox" to help me work through my barriers that hold me back from feeling my emotions. Also this week I watched the movie "Evelyn" on netflix which is about a family coping with their brother's suicide. I bawled my eyes out the entire way through and felt so many suppressed emotions that I haven't allowed myself to feel after the suicides of 2 people in my life in the last couple years. I went through the rollercoaster of trying to suppress my feelings then letting them alllllllllllllll come out and then feeling stupid/bad/guilty for feeling them and then coaching myself through the fact that I'm entitled to my emotions and that these are natural and needed to be let out. WHEW. ((Major trigger warning for this movie on suicide but I''ll also say that it helped me a lot to cope with close one's suicides and my feelings surrounding them))
**Highlights over the last week: I finally looked at my credit card statement and it's not *quite* as bad as i anticpiated. I went through a full mental breakdown before I was able to do it but I pushed through. Now I feel like I can actively take steps to get my finances under control though it might take a while. Another highlight is feeling a slight opening to change in myself. I think there has been a tiny crack in my armour that I can hopefully keep working to dissolve so I can come up with some healthier ways of dealing with my emotions (rather than wearing metaphorical armour all the time)
**Over the weekend I spent some time with my dad. I found myself stuck in some of my same negative patterns with him. He is open to trying to work through it but it has been hard to start productive dialogue. But at least we have started.
**I'm going to use this space to update on my supplement journey. After reading "The Depression Cure" book I've started taking Omega 3's, focusing on EPA over DHA. I've also been taking 100mg of 5-HTP about 30 minutes before going to bed (it gets converted to seratonin to help with mood and seratonin is converted to melatonin which aids in sleep). I have been sleeping through the night now which is a huge relief but I'm not sure if this is because of the weather or the 5-HTP. I also am taking a B vitamin to increase my B12 and B6. I am mostly vegetarian so was worried a lack of B12 might be triggering my low/depressed mood. I recently started taking ashwagandha: 450mg once in the morning. I have felt like my mood is lifting a bit but still having episodes of crying, chronic lethargy and body pains daily.
whew this took all my energy I have right now so probably going to go lay down now
But it felt good to do some reflection

Hey there~
Its great that you made steps to get to a therapist and that your dad offered to help you! Thats really great that you have that support there and that he's willing to work with you on making things good between you. That is an awesome step in a great direction.
While your energy was low, even just making it to the gym "once" is a good thing! So congratulate yourself on a job well done by making the time to get there. Taking your dog on walks is another great step toward getting in activity!.. I take my dog out as many days a week as I can get him out. It gets us BOTH some great activity. So Yay! ..... And how great that you are trying to take the time to make plans to continue moving forward in your goals for yourself.
How great that you took steps in finding work. Great job to you on that! You are worthy of having the things in your life that you are willing to work for and work towards. You're worth it.
I have to agree the weather really has been nice.. and it does make it so much nicer to be able to get our "fur-babies" out so that not only "they" can enjoy, but we are doing something really GREAT for both of us! Not only are we getting in activity but we are doing something so healthy for them as well. And thats an awesome thing.
Working on your mental health by doing small things (such as a Hot bath) can help in so many ways.. Its honestly one of my few favorite things to do for self-care time! Great job for working on yourself.... Your book sounds really interesting I might have to look into that and check it out for myself! Thanks for mentioning it and sharing the title....
While your moving sounds like it can be a difficult one to watch, its nice that it helped you to get out your own feelings on the subject. Helping you to perhaps release some toxic energy surrounding the loss of your loved ones. My condolences to you.
Good job to you on continuing to work on your "credit" goals... Just having that under control can help to relieve Alot of stressors that you can be putting yourself under. Keep up the great work.
Thanks for keeping us updated on how the Vitamin/Supplement journey is continuing to go for you.. Its good to hear how these are working for you and rather educational as well. Its great that you are finding help in them and are feeling an improvement over all!.....Continue to keep us updated on how this continues to go for you... Thanks so much for checking in this week and letting us know how you've been doing! Very great ,positive and informative post! Keep up the great work!
@PoliteOcean
Thanks so much for kind words and encouragement! It's nice having a space just to reflect on each week and I appreciate you taking the time to respond :)
