🌞 This past week was mostly well.. Last weekend we celebrated the long July 4th holiday... Over the course of those days we got out & about, shopped, road-tripped a little, Bbq'd & grilled, spent time in the pool swimming & relaxing, went to a 4th of July holiday festival, & the neighbors set off a few fireworks, etc... Even though I didn't remain completely on track with all of my personal goals, I pretty much kept up with the "Basics". By simply meeting my basic Step-goals each day, & being as mindful as I could, while still enjoying myself.~

🌊 As the week started off, the idea was to jump right back in & get right back on track (with ALL things)... However, I decided to take a small step back a bit on a "few things", and  gave myself a break, & maintained throughout the week... But I did keep up with my Workouts & Activity goals, hydration, & sleep goals. As well kept up with early morning walks & outdoor time with the Furbaby.~ July does tend to be a slightly more challenging month for lack of better term, in staying "on point" with personal goals as I tend to navigate the Summer-time, holiday & travels.... Fortunately for the most part I tend to stay motivated, so it doesn't take long to jump back into things & get back on track.... I have found though that I've been a little "In my feelings" about how fast this summer seems to be going by already (& had even let it affect me on a mental & emotional level)... as I'm mentally not ready for ANY other season yet... I just feel so much better & at my best overall when its Summer time.~ Even though I live South, It still seems to get more challenging each year to navigate other seasons mentally outside of this one, even though each of them do have their own beauty in certain things...~

🏝️ This weekend ahead, intentions are set on a Road-trip to the Beach for a long weekend...  So no fitness classes or Zumba classes... I will work on mindful movement & reaching my basic step goals through walking the beach & the beach town & shops for activity... But intentions are to take a Mental break from the day-to-day. Once back, intentions are to finish decorating my new Deck & patio, planning for upcoming family birthdays & events in the weeks to come, Take some time to "Simplify" my home surroundings along with decluttering, & as well jumping back into my personal July goals to attempt to finish the Month off on a good note for myself.

ENJOY THE WEEKEND~

Wow - the update is posted early this week. This past week went well. Sunday I took a shower. I started to read a new book "Maximus the Confessor". I decided to stop reading novels and focus on philosophy. I'm not trying to be an expert, just enough to help me get where I want to be. A lot of philosophy is verbal manipulation and has nothing to do with reality. Monday I did my laundry and my groceries arrived by delivery. Tuesday I went to the alternative medicine practitioner. The appointment went really well. I'm very happy with the results. John closed the curtain in my bedroom. It's very upsetting because I need good lighting for my eyes. I didn't say anything. He also has a loud booming voice. I don't like it but fortunately he doesn't talk very much. Tuesday night at 11:30 p.m. he had to go to the hospital again but came back Wednesday morning at 10:00 a.m. He is one of these people who doesn't know how to tell time. Wednesday I used my headphones and extension cord for the first time. I haven't watched any TV for 6 weeks. Leslie was 45 minutes late with dinner. I really hate that. It causes me emotional distress. She doesn't want me to die, but she doesn't want me to be happy. She wants to keep me in a permanent state of sickness so I won't move out. John likes to expose his nipples to Leslie's granddaughters. She and Sifa know about it but they don't care. Thursday I went to see my podiatrist but they lost my online paperwork. I left without seeing the doctor. I took the hardcopy home and I'm going to have to fill it out later. My fungus is being stubborn but it seems to be going down. The first week John was here I didn't put medication on it for 3 days. I finished a book called "Basic Teachings of the Great Philosophers" It was very good. Friday afternoon I interviewed a new person to replace Gianna. Gianna is still working for me. I'm going to have two caretakers for a short time but eventually I will have to pick one or the other. For this upcoming week I have a massage scheduled for Monday. Then Thursday I'm seeing my PCP and going to get my A1C checked. Friday I have an appointment with a different dentist. I'm extremely extremely bitter about being abused by Leslie, her family and the other residents.

@Regmo

Hey there Regmo~

That’s awesome for you that your week went well!.. Great job to you on the shower, your laundry, and continuing to keep up with your interests. That’s good that your appointment went well with the alternative practitioner & that you were satisfied with the outcome of your results…. Hopefully any issues with John continue to stay small while you both continue to room together…. Wow, 6 weeks without TV?!! I’m not sure I’d know what to do with myself (🤪 lol).. I have very few things that I watch on TV, however, I do like what I like when they are on. And sometimes I just like having the extra noise in the background if I’m home during the day…. Leslie surely sounds like an interesting person for lack of better term! (As do the others who are in & out of the household)… Hopefully you’re at least being fed better meals than you were previously even though they are being served late?… That’s too bad about the podiatry paperwork. Makes you wonder how on earth they could “lose” something that you sent them online? It should be in their system still?… What have you found that has finally worked on the fungus? Was it prescribed or something over the counter? I remember you had mentioned it, but it has been awhile… That’s great that you got the chance to interview a new caregiver. That was quick! Even though you’ll have to choose, I’m sure it will be great to have 2 caretakers even if only for a little while… It sounds like you will have another busy week ahead for yourself. Keep us posted on how your appts go for you. As far as those in the household, hopefully you are continuing to talk about those issues & feelings with your therapist and that he is working with you on skills to help manage those emotions & feelings. Even though I know how challenging that can be!.. But please continue to keep us updated on how things are going and thanks for checking in to share your week with us.

@PoliteOcean For my fungus I'm taking Ciclopirox Olamine. I skipped a lot of days because my environment is so toxic but the last two weeks I'm trying hard to be more consistent.

love the encouragement in this post💗I'm at a point where I'm realizing it might be impossible to continue to work a sedentary job and to have the level of health, mobility and pain-free existence I desire. Despite being consistent with getting steps in, strength training, counting calories etc.. I just want to validate for anyone struggling how challenging it is to keep your head above water trying to offset the negative impact of a sedentary lifestyle. Add to that the impact it can have on your mood and energy levels, and it becomes difficult to envision being able to sustain this lifestyle. I would love to find some balance and I can also empathize how hard it could be to be on your feet all day as well. Just feeling tired of putting in the effort and feeling like I could be in a much better place if I had a little more flexibility and freedom to move like a human more throughout the day🤸‍♂️

Hey there!~

Thank you! We are so glad you are feeling the encouragement here! 😊💝

So sorry to hear that your current job is interfering with your health & wellbeing. Having a sedentary job can certainly be a challenge. As we know more & more about how being sedentary can affect us in multiple ways physically mentally and emotionally.

Despite that, I think it’s amazing that you are still doing what you can to be consistent by keeping up with all the important ways to help maintain your health while dealing with a sedentary work situation. And you should be commended on your efforts! Because they all definitely count for something! And thank you for taking time to share it while helping to validate others here who may be in the same or similar situation.

Being able to find Balance is definitely important, not only in this situation but in our overall lives in all that we do… I’ve personally been in BOTH situations! Being stuck to the chair of a sedentary job, as well as being on my feet all day to the point where I couldn’t stand anymore!! But.. if I only knew then the things I know NOW to help counteract them!

Im not sure if you are working at home remotely, or if you are at an actual job location? But there are many sneaky ways to sneak in movement throughout the day when in a sedentary position.

**Some suggestions could be Taking small & frequent breaks to move around or walk, use a standing desk so one is not sitting the whole time, incorporating desk or chair exercises, fitness balls to sit on or use instead of a chair or swap out for core exercises, walking pads, Working out before or after work, walking or exercising during your lunch breaks, incorporate standing exercises in increments of every 15-20 minutes (like quick bursts of jumping jacks, or jogging in place, walking in place) etc.. for blood flow!, stretching exercises, handheld weights, stretching bands, etc..etc.. (these might be some small things to do or ways to get started).

I use to work for a school system as a Nurse (mostly desk job with no real break), & would come before work started and walk the football track or the basketball court. I would also get up and lap around the inside the building every so often throughout the day (while checking other things etc..) little things like that.

I sympathize with sedentary work when you are typically an “active person”, as I understand the difficulties especially if the above things mentioned aren’t feasible for you to do!.. But maybe one of those things you might already do? Or might even help if you don’t?!

But we definitely wish you the best on your journey & finding something that works for you or that becomes more conducive to your wellness goals! We are here to support you & your efforts!

Thank you for checking in this week to share with us and being supportive to others! And Please let us know how you are continuing to do!

@PoliteOcean

Appreciate the kind words and thoughtful suggestions! I'm going to plan to get some movement and mobility work in before sitting down in the morning to feel a sense of accomplishment and not feel "behind" in my step count for the day. Investing in myself first thing might take away that resentment that builds up through the day and makes it feel like I'm neglecting a real priority to my wellbeing. I can sense how much you relate working a nurse desk job and not having a real break....it can be draining and too easy to neglect your own needs when you don't have a good routine in place. It's inspiring to read the ways you fit movement in👌I lap the building as well, go up and down stairs and get up as much as possible but it can feel very defeating some days!

I love your goals & intentions! It totally sounds like you are prepared to make a way for yourself & know what to do going forward! So keep up the great work there & keep pushing & striving for yourself... You don’t have to go completely hard, mindful movement is just as great also. Whatever you decide to do, I can see you will be totally ready & prepared!

I know it can be challenging. And yes, I even resented it myself in feeling like it wasn’t fair that I felt “glued” to my chair, as a Charge nurse for the largest school In my area to a staff & students of over thousands! When I say I didn’t even get a break, I didn’t. I had to eat at my desk, AND continue to wait on whoever came to my office (everyday)!... So I really had to dig deep with that position at the time…

But you’ve got this! When there’s a will there is a way! 👊🏼💪🏼 Just remember to also take care of yourself! ❤️

Harold Gilbourne is a name I just made up. Wait that's not the game...

Hailee Steinfeld! First letters of Happy and Spectre GOOOOOAL

A struggle for me this week was recording video that I couldn't use. It was incredibly frustrating, because it was a good video! I had to delete it and I'll try again today.

I'm tired. My period messed up my sleep schedule (to be fair, i messed it up too), but I think I have it back on track. I need to go to bed at a reasonable hour tonight.

Oh! A highlight for this week is that my divorce is nearly finalized! My lawyer says she expects to finalize it sometime next month, and I won't even have to come in! I can do it over Zoom!!

Happy Christmas everyone!

(Apparently I'm in a silly mood today 😜 )

Hi there~

Sorry to hear that you struggled with your video recording. It’s tough when we spend a lot of valuable time working on something that we feel doesn’t come together in the way we desire. But kuddos to you on giving it another try! 👍🏼

It’s great that you are also working on getting your sleep back on track. That’s so important in how we feel overall from day to day. Getting to bed at a reasonable time is an excellent start! 💤

That’s good for you that things are coming together with the finalization of your divorce proceedings. And that you don’t have to spend time going in to wrap things up. As long as it all makes you happy that’s all that matters. We are here to support you at 7cups!

Thank you for checking in to share your week with us and please continue to keep us updated on how things are going.

This week has been especially tough for me. I have been in the dumps most of it.

Finally got the courage to text with a Listener. I don't know if that was a mistake or not, I know my Listener was just trying to help with suggestions but by the end of our discussion I was in full blown panic attack, thought my heart was going through my chest and my anxiety skyrocketed to the point I wanted to throw up.

Today, I am feeling somewhat better, my neighbour invited us up to their cottage for the weekend. Great place to just get a chance to veg and get out of my head space for a while.

Hi, Ocean,

I'm with you on the summer flying by.  Why does it seem that way?

How are you & how was your week?  I'm depressed today.  I still haven't found a replacement job.  I thought I might have an internship for the fall, but it turned out the man in charge wasn't prepared to oversee an intern.  So, that fell through.

🌊 This is our "Second" Check-in for "JULY"~... (We are almost half-way through July already)?... Right before the start of Summer, we talked of Creating a "Summer Bucket List of Healthy things". (Which included incorporating Healthy things, ideas, actions, activities, or goals etc.... Anything that affected your Health & wellbeing in a Positive way)... Whatever that means for you personally, How has that been going for you so far?!.... What is something that you haven't thought about or that you could add & fit in for yourself as we move through these remaining Summer days ahead?!  I've been keeping up with those things the best I can.  I'm interested in an internship for the fall, so I'm talking to the internship coordinator at school.  Wish me luck.

🏝️ July 12th  is "NATIONAL SIMPLICITY DAY"... This observance encourages taking a step back & looking at ways to "Simplify" our lives.... And an opportunity to declutter & eliminate any unnecessary burdens that might weigh us down. Or even living with only what we "Need"... When our lives are simpler, our stress levels also decrease as well, Which in turn encourages a Healthier lifestyle. (Whether its goals, clutter, impulse shopping, or even realizing what actually brings you peace & joy), In WHAT ways could YOU start to "Simplify" your life Today for a better tomorrow, or going forward for a healthier & Less stressful "You"?!  I haven't completely unpacked from when I moved in last August.  I did unpack what I need and want and kept the rest, such as decorations, pictures, art supplies, etc., in boxes.  It could be in my immediate future or future for the fall to move again, so I thought, why bother completely?  I'll cut myself a break.  It looks odd in my apartment.  I've never remained in boxes so long, but I've moved so many times that now it feels like the right thing to do.

🌞 JUST FOR FUN: Name ONE Famous Person (past or present) whose name starts with the FIRST Letter of your 7cups Name?... (I'll start: PRINCE)~ I'm going to spring off your name and say Prince William.  Does that count?

🌊 What were your "Highlights or Struggles" of the week?... How were you able to work through your Challenges in a Healthy Way?!  I did what I do, which is keep moving forward and take breaks.

Hey there Tree~

Ikr?.. It’s so unfair that what’s supposed to be the longest season of year (& to me the best one), always seems to be the shortest & goes by the fastest~ 😔

…..

So sorry to hear that you are feeling down about your current employment situation. And that things fell through with the internship.. But I know you are strong & diligent & that everything will continue to come together for you at the right time. And best wishes with your discussions with the coordinator! Keep us posted!

I can understand you not completely unpacking, I still have things I never took out of boxes or photos I never hung up, decors, etc.. etc.. That’s been years since I’ve lived in my current home. Because I thought I was going to keep this home as simplistic as I could when I moved in!… But you have to do what feels right for you at the time. When you feel comfortable & that you’ve found your “forever home” I’m sure some of those things will again make their way out... OR, it could be a good thing in that you might find you will remain in a simplistic lifestyle for yourself going forward?!

**Prince William totally counts 👍🏼

It sounds like you are doing well and maintaining for yourself at this time until things fall into their places... And you’re doing right by yourself in taking breaks and continuing to keep your head up and a good head on your shoulders while moving forward! You always land on your feet. And you’ll continue to do so! We are here for you.~

Thank you for checking in to share with us this week. (Missed you last week)! .. Please continue to keep us updated on how things are going.

Hey all~ Welcome to the Weekend~ How are you & how was your week?  Been a couple weeks since I opened my 7 cups browser......Long paragraph ahead so if anyone isn't a reader, feel free to skip...My week went well in all aspects of work and personal things....as far as how I am....That is probably why I haven't logged in.... Mentally and emotionally, I'm doing well in all aspects of my life except the part where it connects to my physical health.  A few weeks back I had real bad "flare up" if you will, of pain and stiffness in my hips, pelvis, knees, and ankles that lasted for 8 or 10 days and that put me in a funk.... I stopped working out and doing all the things related to it....not good for my mental well being at all.....I was finally able to get in to rheumatology on the 30th of June....had xrays and blood work done and he started me on Celebrex.  Scans are in the future because I HAVE to do PT first.....insurance won't cover an MRI until I've been to PT.....how stupid is that????  PT can't get me in until the first week of August....Anyway, he explained that most of what they deal with in rheumatology is "trial and error and testing", as a lot of the diagnoses that they deal with don't have definitive markers.....there are markers that help diagnose but its not a definite "this is what it is" type of thing....at least that is how I understood his explanation.....anyway....all the blood test came back normal, and the only xrays that had anything that looked out of place was some slight narrowing of the SI joints in my pelvis....I was kinda bummed because the amount of pain I have in my lower extremities at times I was sure something would show up somewhere.....hopefully the PT can help some, and the MRI, if I can ever get there, will tell something also....The new medication....I've been on it for just under 2 weeks....I have to contact him and ask about how this medication should be working and what the "end game" for this medication is.....making the pain manageable and tolerable or if it's supposed to make me pain free....It helps some, but doesn't make me completely pain free....it just makes the pain tolerable and I feel like it wears off after 7 or 8 hours.....

I can honestly say I don't remember our talk about the summer bucket list, and I really don't have the motivation and drive to go back and try to find out what I wrote....I think some of that is the fact that I haven't really logged in or participated on here in a couple of weeks.

(Whether its goals, clutter, impulse shopping, or even realizing what actually brings you peace & joy), In WHAT ways could YOU start to "Simplify" your life Today for a better tomorrow, or going forward for a healthier & Less stressful "You"?!  I have a lot of actual physical things that could use "de-cluttering" in my life.  As far as that is concerned, the goal is to downsize so we can sell the house and move south into a condo upon retirement.  This is still a few years away so I really haven't been trying hard to get rid of a lot my "stuff".  With that said, I haven't added to it either....as far as emotional or mental clutter....I feel I have been status quo with my thoughts, feelings and emotional for some time now.....not really in an up state, not really in a down state....the big thing for me right now is being in my own head about my pain management and getting answers and/or treatments.....I feel I am managing it the best I can

🌞 JUST FOR FUN: Name ONE Famous Person (past or present) whose name starts with the FIRST Letter of your 7cups Name?... (I'll start: PRINCE)~ Colin Farrell

🏝️ What is something else that "YOU" want to Talk about, Add, Or Share with us this week?!... WE want to hear from YOU~ I did an upper body weights workout yesterday for the first time in over a month....I took it slow....light weights......for a guy who has been about going "all out", being better than my last bike ride, stronger than the last workout, and making progress each time I put my sneakers on, the last month has really been a drag....the data in my lifting journal and on my Strava app from my last workout to this one really depressed me......I need to find a way to understand that simple stretching, a leisurely bike ride, an easy walk or slow elliptical, light weights and resistance bands, all those things are good for me and will keep me going....I just have a hard time wrapping my head around the fact that if I'm not going all out, working toward a new personal best, Its not worth the effort.....

On a more positive note.....I'm taking my yearly trip south to see my kids and grand kids this week....and then we are stopping at a beach we have never been to for a few days on the way home....

If you read all that and made it this far....thanks for listening and tolerating my rant and my vent.....I hope you have a great week.....

Hey there Cycling 🚴‍♂️~

Good to see you back this week! That’s great that despite your physical wellbeing feeling out of whack, that your Mental & emotional health wasn’t seemingly or overly affected by it…. It sounds like you did a good thing for yourself and your overall wellness by just taking a break with things and taking a step back for the time being…

Thats wonderful that you were able to finally get in & be seen, as well get started on your medication! And hopefully you will find that it helps, along with the the PT aspect… (As far as insurance, well that’s an entire different conversation 🤦🏻‍♀️🤪).... if I recall correctly, when my back & my knees went out on me several years back, I had MRIs done “Before” the PT…. But I honestly don’t feel any of it would have made a difference in what order it all came in, because they will always want to force you into getting PT regardless… And I find they will exercise you the same regardless of what’s going on?!… So in the end, my only point is that hopefully at worst it’s all arthritic, and that the meds & PT will both do their job together and play the role of helping you to get the relief you need!.. I personally found it all helpful. As mine was all arthritic & degenerative related… (But the steroid shots were even better than all the rest)! 🙌🏼 lol… But yes in the end it’s trial & error in finding what will work best for pain management. A good “anti-inflammatory Diet” of course is also very helpful (when the changes are made). But great job to you in being proactive and trying to figure out what will be best. And on being your own best advocate!

As far as the Summer bucket list, yes you were away for a bit on that aspect, however, I think you are already working on it! And that’s by just focusing on your health & wellbeing. And filling up your bucket by doing what you can to feel better & by figuring out what’s going to be best & beneficial in your healing!

Oh wow… sounds like you have some great retirement plans! Do you have a specific area that you are looking at? Not that you have to mention it here… But It might actually all help with your pain too living somewhere warmer?

“Colin” is a great choice! I LOVED his version & rendition in the remake of the 80s movie “Fright night”! 👍🏼

As far as trying to keep up, stay on track, or even out-do your own self, Nobody is keeping track but “you”… And the best thing you can do for yourself is to heal to continue to feel better and get stronger again from the pain. It’s awesome that you were able to do upper body weights & get a workout in (even if you felt you had to tone it down from your normal). The important thing is that you are moving & trying. And through PT you will continue to get back to your desired levels when the time comes. And yes in the mean time, ALL the other workouts are amazing as well! (The stretches, the pool, light weights & resistance etc..), they will definitely help do wonders! It’s actually where I started after my whole back & knee issues. It will all keep you functioning & mobile! Sometimes we just have to get out of our own heads, and give other things a chance and work outside the box!

How awesome that you will get to see your family soon and do a beach trip as well. When you are back, you can let us know how it all went, and tell us about the Beach you decided to go to! And please Let us know how it was!

Looking forward to hearing about all your future great progress, outcomes, & trip. Thank you for checking in this week to let us know how you’ve been doing and sharing everything with us. And again, please let us know how things are going for you. Don’t be a stranger!
