Difference between growth and waiting
Sometimes we tell ourselves we’re growing, when really we’re just waiting.
Waiting for the right person.
Waiting to feel confident.
Waiting until we’re “ready.”
I’ve been wondering whether inner development is less about waiting for life to change and more about becoming someone who can make decisions without needing certainty first. Maybe growth isn’t found in having all the answers, but in learning to trust ourselves enough to keep moving anyway.
The future is always uncertain, but our ability to respond to it doesn’t have to be. Sometimes that’s the biggest goal of all.
I agree. Growth often means taking action even when we don’t feel fully ready. Learning to trust ourselves and adapt can be more important than having everything figured out.

I love that you brought this up. It reminds me of analysis paralysis, which I think is one of the biggest traps smart people can fall into. We can overthink our way right out of taking action.
The reality is that clarity often comes through action. The path becomes clearer as you step onto it. Planning has its place, but no amount of planning can fully compensate for learning through doing.
Real growth comes from trying, figuring things out as you go, making mistakes, and learning from them. And you will make mistakes. You will probably fail miserably at times. That is part of the process.
But even imperfect action will usually take you much further than endlessly trying to plan your way into the perfect decision.
@Hope I completely agree. I think the hardest part is accepting that sometimes you have to act without knowing whether you’re making the “right” choice. Like you said, mistakes and failure aren’t necessarily signs that we chose wrong, sometimes they’re exactly what teaches us what the right direction actually is. Thanks for adding this perspective!
@Bhrigs Thank you for this post. i needed this.

I really like the distinction you made between growing and waiting. I think sometimes we mistake being “not ready yet” for needing more time, when what we actually need is to take a small step and learn from it. The part about trusting ourselves even without certainty really stood out to me too. Maybe growth is less about becoming completely confident and more about becoming comfortable with not knowing exactly what comes next.
