How do you know when you’re actually growing?
Sometimes I feel like growth is really hard to see in myself unless I stop and think about it. It’s not always some huge change, it can be little stuff, like reacting differently to a situation or noticing I handle stress better than before.

- How do you usually tell that you’ve grown as a person?
- Do you think people around us notice our growth before we do?
@Xaiyaa5
I do think people notice it before us because we are too consumed with wanting to see the change instead of just allowing ourselves the time and space to grow!
It's gradual and requires patience!

@Xaiyaa5. I totally get that—growth often sneaks up on us in the little moments. I usually notice it when I pause and reflect, like realizing I stayed calm in a stressful situation or responded with patience instead of frustration.
I think people around us sometimes notice our growth before we do, especially if our actions change in ways that positively affect them. Their feedback or reactions can be a mirror showing us how far we’ve come.
@Xaiyaa5 I think growing up as a person often means how much we've learnt to heal ourselves. I know I still have a lot more experience to gain, but mentally, I've learnt a lot about self-healing and supporting others. Even regarding spirituality, my outlook has changed a lot. And when I think about my past experiences, I feel the change, I realize how much more I've learnt and that I still have a lot more to learn. And I think, self-aware persons realize their growth first before others do.
@Xaiyaa5 I can relate to that feeling... growth often feels invisible until you pause and reflect. I’ve noticed that even small changes, like responding more calmly to conflict or choosing patience over frustration, are signs that I’m evolving. Journaling or just taking a quiet moment to think about how I handled situations differently than before really helps me see the progress. Sometimes, I think others do notice our growth before we do. I remember a friend commenting on how more composed I have become. That showed me how my friend's observations can act as a mirror... reflecting back the progress we might be too close to see ourselves. I like to think growth is cumulative... the small adjustments stack up over time and eventually show a clear pattern of development.

I think you can tell if you've grown by the way you carry yourself, like did you change something that wouldn't normally do, asking yourself was it a good or bad change. And Yes I think the people around us definitely notice our growth especially if it's something that is beneficial to us.
@Xaiyaa5
We know because we start to change
@Xaiyaa5 great topic! I notice that I have outgrown myself when I react different to a situation. You say this is a little stuff but in my opinion it is a big accomplishment, it is kind of the gist of growing. For me there are two phase when changing a pattern, acquiring the awareness about a pattern and then acting differently when confronted with it. In time this comes as natural as the automatic response used to be and I find this to be a great success. :)
Hi @Xaiyaa5, thank you for this questions!
@Xaiyaa5
You recognize it when you start to react to things in a way that makes you feel proud or makes you think you've come a long way. People notice the growth that emanates in the action at that very moment even if they don't point it out but I like to think people have a good understanding of someone's growth whether they want to admit it or not!
@Xaiyaa5
For me, I notice growth when I react differently in situations I used to struggle with like staying calmer under stress, setting boundaries more confidently, or choosing empathy over frustration. Journaling or reflecting on past challenges also helps me see patterns of growth I might have missed in the moment.
