How do you know when you’re actually growing?
Sometimes I feel like growth is really hard to see in myself unless I stop and think about it. It’s not always some huge change, it can be little stuff, like reacting differently to a situation or noticing I handle stress better than before.

- How do you usually tell that you’ve grown as a person?
- Do you think people around us notice our growth before we do?

I usually notice growth when I realise I react differently to the same problems than I did before. That’s when it becomes clear something has changed, even if it’s small.
I think other people can notice it too, even if they don’t always see it as “growth”—they might just see it as you changing. It probably depends on the person and how aware they are.

I relate to this a lot, growth often feels subtle in real time.
For me, I notice I’ve grown when I react differently in situations that used to affect me more strongly, especially under stress or pressure. It’s usually in small moments, like staying calmer, thinking before reacting, or recovering faster after something difficult.
I do think other people can sometimes notice our growth before we do, because they see us from a more “external” perspective and may pick up changes in our behavior or attitude more easily than we do ourselves. But I also think personal growth becomes clearer to us over time when we reflect back on how we used to respond compared to how we respond now.

1. I usually realize I’ve grown as a person when I notice that certain old friendships or environments no longer suit me anymore. I also notice how differently I think, react, and understand myself compared to before
2.I think people around us sometimes notice our growth before we do because we tend to underestimate ourselves and focus more on our flaws or struggles than on how much we’ve actually changed.
I totally relate to this. The small things really are the best indicators. I usually notice my own growth when a situation that used to completely overwhelm me, doesn't trigger a panic mode anymore. I'll just take a breath and handle it, and then later realize, "old me would have definitely freaked out over that".
@Xaiyaa5 that's told through actions; the way we behave with them after we had grown as a person
yes people do notice if somebody had outgrown themselves
@Xaiyaa5
Noticing changes in my reactions, understanding, and the way I respond to situations helps me realize how much I’ve grown as a person. I also believe that people around us often notice our growth before we do, especially if they are truly present with us, and they can positively influence that growth too.

I became aware that I was growing up when I realized that I was being ignored by alot of my friends.. I was reaching out to them but they never reach out to me. So I put on my big boy pants confronted them then kicked out the garbage. Now I am finding peace and new friends 🌟
