The positivity of appreciating ourselves, others and the world

Hay everyone✨!

This post is a part of the IDG, and I want to talk about appreciating each other and ourselves.

‘Relating to others and to the world with a basic sense of appreciation,
gratitude and joy’ Appreciative attitude towards other people can help us
develop trust and connection which leads to collaboration.”

When we appreciate ourselves, we give ourselves gratitude as well,
we also find a stronger connection within ourselves.
Imagine you’re writing yourself an appreciation letter and you mention
all the great qualities that you possess.

What would that feel like?

For me, it is one of the things that gives me a positive outlook in life.

I continuously appreciate the strengths I have,
the qualities and what makes me the person I am.
It gives me joy to know what I’m capable of,
what I am good at and it also helps me have a growth mindset.

When I appreciate myself, I see what I can do already.
But what I see as well is what I can achieve and how I can grow further
as a person and even as a listener here on Cups.
I find that doing this also gives me kindness towards myself and others.
I know that starting to appreciate ourselves can feel like an overwhelming task to do,
but is it worth it?

My answer is yes, a wholeheartedly yes from me.
I feel a stronger connection within and I must say that knowing our strengths,
our qualities, what we’re capable of achieving and doing is a joy giver.

But how do I do it?
Have you heard about gratitude journaling?
Well, if you haven’t, here’s what my vision of it is: when we journal what we’re grateful for,
it gives us an opportunity to appreciate life as it is.
It helps us accept who and how we are like.

By writing in a gratitude journal each day,
we
are giving ourselves a big opportunity to love ourselves and others.

So, if you can, create one.
It doesn’t have to be hand written, it can be on your phone/tablet/computer.
Just allow yourself to appreciate yourself as you write in your gratitude journal.
Give yourself the kindness you give to others,
allow yourself to care for yourself as you care for others.

Whatever you do, allow yourself to appreciate yourself.
You are worth it, you matter and you are enough.

😊 I wish you all a wonderful rest of your day 😊

This is a very important topic. Thank you for covering it. I think everyday we admire people for their many strengths and the way they do certain things but we rarely verbalise it. These reminders are valuable.

I like the idea of gratitude journaling. This goes beyond just appreciating ourselves. It helps to reflect on what is going right.

@AnnaSilverberg My beautiful twin, what an absolutely phenomenal read this was for me!

"I continuously appreciate the strengths I have, the qualities and what makes me the person I am." These are your words and I love it.... well, because I appreciate your strengths and qualities too! Together, it's what makes you, you, Anna! And if you ask me, you're a real darn beauty! I love so much about you so I can only imagine how you love yourself.

Thank you for writing about this most important topic! I definitely believe that keeping a gratitude journal is something we should all do. There's so much beauty to be found in this world and if we open and receptive, we can find it. I just recently bought my little one a gratitude journal last week and now seeing your posting here... this is a sign that I must begin a new one for 2024. Thanks for all you do, Anna! ♡ And remember: I love you and I am grateful for you. ♡

@AnnaSilverberg I love this idea. I recently started a gratitude note in my phone and add to it before bed. It really shifts my focus. Writing to myself with kindness is something I’m learning to do, and your post reminded me how powerful that can be.

@AnnaSilverberg

Hey there ✨,

Your message radiates so much warmth, encouragement, and gentle wisdom. I felt lighter just reading it. Thank you for reminding us of the power of appreciation, not only toward others but inwardly, where it’s often the hardest to give.

The idea of writing ourselves an appreciation letter is such a beautiful practice. 💌 So many of us pour out kindness to others but forget that we, too, are deserving of that same compassion. Your words about discovering a stronger connection within ourselves through appreciation really hit home.

I also love how you tied this to the IDG framework—particularly the dimension of Relating—because appreciation really is a bridge. It connects us to others through gratitude and trust, and it connects us to ourselves through self-love and reflection.

The idea of a gratitude journal is something I’ll definitely revisit after reading this. Whether it's a physical notebook or a simple note app on my phone, it’s the intention that counts. Writing just one or two things each day that we appreciate about ourselves can create real emotional momentum over time. 🌿
