Hello LDP Team!

The problem is the path is the core insight that helps us evolve as individuals and as a community here on 7 Cups.

Here is an overview of this course:

Course Description: It is natural for us to want to avoid problems. Problems can cause worry, anxiety, and frustration. These are feelings that we often want to avoid. Problems, however, are the key to growth. When we face our problems directly we get smarter and grow stronger. A saying that captures this is: Progress = Pain + Reflection. This course helps you learn the value of problems by highlighting the difference between problems you might be concerned about and problems you can directly solve. Next, it walks you through the ancient practice of steering into problems directly in order to unlock their value and gifts. Finally, it helps you identify and measure progress so you can make continued gains in your personal and professional life.

@TheHearthofBelievers
You explained the difference between the circle of concern and circle of influence so clearly, especially how you plan to pause and check which one your stress belongs to. That’s such a smart and mindful approach. I also liked how you connected being proactive to focusing energy where it truly makes a difference. Great job!

Circle of concern

-          The health and welfare of my pets

-          The well-being of those I love

-          Other people’s opinion of me

Circle of influence

-          The care I give my pets

-          The support I provide for my loved ones

-          How I behave

Remind myself to focus on influence more by reminding myself to focus on what I can control and not let the rest control me.

He focused on his circle of influence but still anticipates what might be needed to expand his circle. This was very proactive and focused on his response to situations.

  3. The unhealthy lifestyle of my friends and dear ones

3 things in my Circle of influence

  1. My work and how I perform to my utmost capability

  3. My influence on people who seek my advise and help.

✒️ Next, watch the following video and highlight what stands out to you about this executive? What did they do that would be considered proactive as opposed to reactive?

The fact that the employee focused on what he can do and empathized with the President of the company and where he is coming up, gave him an edge to use the power of both the President and his peers who desperately wanted to contribute their ideas.

He could listen to them - Compounding effect of good ideas and present it in a way before the conference to the President so that the President can use the ideas well presented. He also gave credit to the team for their ideas which did not alienate them rather encouraged them to come up with more.

✒️ Watch the following video and identify 3 things in your circle of concern, 3 things in your circle of influence, and 1 thing you can do to remind yourself to focus on your circle of influence.

Following viewing the video, here are 3 things from my circle of concern and circle of influence:
Circle of concern: Global changes affecting jobs; how others perceive my ideas; future changes in the world around me beyond my control.
Circle of influence: Improving my skills through learning; building supportive relationships; my own schedule and life choices.

✒️ Next, watch the following video and highlight what stands out to you about this executive? What did they do that would be considered proactive as opposed to reactive?

I learned that it's more beneficial to focus on what I can affect within my circle of influence, rather than what I cannot by being too caught up in the circle of concern.

These are things I care about (video and identify 3 things in your circle of concern, 3 things in your circle of influence, and 1 thing you can do to remind yourself to focus on your circle of influence.)

3 Things in My Circle of Concern:
World events / global issues
Other people’s decisions
Past mistakes or regrets

3 Things in My Circle of Influence
My habits & routines
My attitude & mindset
My relationships & communication

The thing that I can do is to set a daily check-in or asks myself: “What can I control right now?” This forces me to pause, shift from worrying about what’s outside my control, and redirect energy into action in the areas I can change.

 AND

What stood out to me about the executive was how they took ownership of their actions and choices instead of blaming outside factors. They focused on what they could control and used their energy to make a positive impact within their circle of influence. By anticipating challenges and planning ahead, they demonstrated true proactive leadership, choosing to act with intention rather than simply reacting to situations
