Happy Tuesday everyone in the Mindfulness Community heart

Accept what is,

Let go of what was,

and have faith in what will be

We fall into trouble when we try to control and affect the things in life that are not able to be controlled.

What is something that you cannot change in your life and have difficulties to accept?

One thing I have trouble with is knowing when someone is joking or serious with me.

@pamharley003 good to see you here! Yes it can be trouble some not knowing if someone is joking or serious with you. And that true- you have no control over. I do hope at some point you can ask them if they are serious or joking and that helps you out. Hugsheart

My physical health problems. I have CFS/ME, I've had it for 15 years and it's likely to be lifelong. Sometimes I've been able to accept it. Usually when I haven't had a relapse in a while and when my general mental health is good. Neither are true at the moment! 😂 But I know it's possible for me to have a reasonable quality of life, if I wasn't depressed and anxious as well.

enlightenedWhat is something that you cannot change in your life and have difficulties to accept?

School- my youngest is going back to school in 2 days and I do not like how they have it set up. It has been driving me crazy getting her ready as my mind is not in it like it used to be. I have been trying to step away-take a breath and know "I have no control over this" but its hard.

So a leap of faith and to know I have supplied her with what she needs to be safe is well good enoughheart

I am very sorry you feel so hopeless about life. Do you think it could help to try a 1-1 chat with a listener to talk more in detail about your situation?

What is something that you cannot change in your life and have difficulties to accept?

What I have the most trouble with lately is the feeling of uncertainty and a mix of fear looming over my life right now. It's frustrating because there is nothing I can do for clarity. I am usually one to proactively fix a problem. Just waiting is so frustrating and hard for me.

My spouse is currently getting ready to leave our family for a year, and I'm scared of what the results of that will be. (We are not sure when he will be leaving)

@mikayla700

It's tough when you are a person who always fixes things and all over sudden you are in a situation where you just have to be patient to what unfolds. I hope there will be some clarity for you soon.

I'm having difficulties accepting that I'm grateful for my parents and I still love them, but I hate their beliefs and opinions (regarding politics) and engaging them on that topic leaves me shaking in anger. Like this is not how I was raised and educated. I'm just having a hard time accepting these conflicting feelings and creating boundaries, I think.

Sounds like it's best to avoid conflicting topics like politics so that noone gets hurts. It's tough when the people we love and respect come up with things completely beyond your tolerance.

I have difficulty accepting that I can't change the past. I can write this off as irrational, but it doesn't take away that feeling. Sometimes I look into my memories and it is like looking into another universe, and I feel very disconnected and yet helpless against my past-self.

But, life goes on I suppose. Time waits for no one.

Sorry to hear that your past has still such a big influence on you, it must be very hard, hugs. Unfortunately the only thing we can do is to change the way we look at the past. The time when acceptance takes place can never be stipulated, but I hope that things will get easier for you.

That I can not give up, my sometimes meaningless stubbornness costs me a lot of time and energy. If I can not do something I can not let it go until it works, even it is not needed anymore😔 I do not know what I can do to change my attitude

I believe that the most fundamental part of stopping to be stubborn is acceptance but unfortunately that is also the hardest part.

My mood swings. I hate when I get low mood, annoyed angry, sad, depressed, rejected etc. I've struggled for a long time to accept these "bad" emotions. I have noticed recently that is starting to shift slightly. I still hate when an emotion hits and I dread it hanging around to long, but I've started to believe that it will pass and won't last forever. And even though I've had a bad patch of emotions that lasted 5 days I definitely feel I coped better with it this time. I had faith that I would feel better soon. I told myself it was ok to feel the way I did. Not expecting too much from myself or trying to force the feelings away made them easier to manage. Today day 6 was a good day and all those "bad" feelings have floated away

I am so glad to hear that you feel better today, it must have been rough. How you managed to get through makes a lot of sense. Having faith and understanding that in tough situations we simply can't expect that much but have to be compassionate towards ourselves prevents creating more pressure. I find yoga and tai chi are some helpful ways to gain emotional balance.

I've been practising Qigong for a year now. I was doing a class but also 18 form and 8 brocades regularly using YouTube videos. My teacher went away for the summer and I've struggled to keep up my practise. I know I feel better when I do it and when I go for a hour walk, but I've not been able to make myself do either. I can feel the stress building in my head, tension in my jaw and cheeks. But still can't force myself to do it. I don't understand why when you know something is good for you and makes you feel better, I still struggle to do it. Any advice?

@Everythingisbetterinyourpyjamas

I am so so sorry for the delay in answering your post, I simply did not see it.

Our minds tend to want us to do what we practised before and that can make it hard to change to something new like self care. What I find very helpful is making a schedule and simply just do it, don't think about it whether to do or not to do. Creating a new habit takes time but once you are on the path it does get easier.
