Plants can increase levels of positive energy. Some research shows that people who keep flowers in their home feel happier, less stressed, and more relaxed. Being around plants helps people concentrate better in the home and workplace (provided there is no medical condition like allergies of course).

Plants, flowers and other foliage symbolize emotions, ideas and actions. Each plant has its own meaning and surrounding yourself with plants that symbolize things you want or value can create a positive environment. Knowing plant symbolism can help you pick decor and gifts that are more meaningful and personalized.

For me plants/flowers at the very least serve as a reminder that nothing is permanent and that in order to keep living you need to provide proper nourishment, love, care and attention. Also just like Cherry Bloosoms the idea that you can blossom again even when you have died into something new and that you still can be just as colorful, beautiful and special.

The lotus is an amazing plant, it submerges every night into river water and miraculously re-blooms the next morning smiley

I love, trees, plants, flowers, and all of it!

We have lots of very huge trees in the yard, with 4 huge magnolia trees that bloom beautiful white, wonderful smelling flowers (so everyone says, as I can't smell for years now). People come by and ask if they can pick a couple of the flowers off those trees from time to time. We are happy for them to enjoy them and get them.

The neighbor behind us and we, share a chain-length fence and it has the most beautiful jasmine plant growing all down it. He keeps it trimmed for us and the neighbor, so, it stays in such a beautiful shape. It was recently blooming so beautifully adn when a 2 diff ride for me came to the yard, and my 2 friends from church that pick me up, they all commented on how wonderful that jasmine plant across the back fence smelled and looked. I used to go look out at it from the back door. So lovely.

I used to bring home indoor greenery plants and put them inside our bay windows. But, I do not think we get enough sunlight here for that, as so many plants just died. I sure do love indoor plants though. It makes the place just so much nicer, feels so much better, and makes you very happy to see them and be around them.

Your yard must be amazing! I can imagine how relaxing it must feeling sitting there and just watching the plants, even if you sadly can't smell them. May I ask if you are born without a sense of smell or do you suffer from an illness like anosmia?

@amiablePeace77

Thanks ami. What is your yard like? What does it look like all around there? I've always wanted to ask you.

I used to be able to smell, until about 15 - 20 yrs ago. I do not know why I can't smell. Yes, I do have severe insomnia, med resistant--diagnosed by 2 specialists and a sleep clinic specialist. I am grateful for every hour of sleep I am able to have. wink Ami, do you have any problems with sleep?

User Profile: amiablePeace77
amiablePeace77 OP May 20th, 2021

@Amelia2324

I can see that you're grateful for every hour of sleep, it must be hard not getting enough and also good rest at night. I usually sleep very well, but the heat can affect it in summer (we use aircon for a few hours though).

In my garden there is a variety of plants ranging from aloes to bougainvillea and and and - so many to list. I planted also trees which have medical or nutritional value like Moringa trees.laugh

@amiablePeace77

Yes, I bet that is difficult to get proper rest in the summer without it being cool enough. *Hugs*

You have put a lot of thought and planning into your yard. You also know a lot about many plants and trees and have been able to select exactly what you really want in your yard, with your extensive knowledge. This is impressive ami. I'm not sure what a couple of those things in your yard actually are and they may be native to your area, but, I do not know. But, I like how their health meanings and such have great value to you. Smart!

@amiablePeace77 aloe plants are very interesting because they are like jelly in the middle of them. They also survive in extreme conditions. I guess that reminds me of some of the people here, they are survivors.

Aloes are indeed great survivors, they usually always come back to the surface even when pushed down (step on them or thing falls on them). I agree to what you said about people here, it's amazing how some people thrive under difficult situations. 💚

Hello everyone,

I really enjoy the pictures you include with the check-in posts. Lovely!

I'm not sure I have a favorite plant. There are so many lovely ones. I have various house plants around my home, but I am not even sure of all of their names. I have a few small ones at my desk and others scarted on diffrent flat surfaces.

For me plants add light and warmth. I enjoy seeing the green in the flat. It is relaxing to have a bit of nature inside with us.
