Daily Mindfulness Check-In November 2, 2022
One of the best memories I have about autumn is walking through the woods where I used to live with my dogs and collecting nuts. It was a wonderful time and felt so good to feel the crunchy leaves underneath the feet and looking at the beautiful colors around me.

My best memory of autumn is probably trick or treating when I was little at a trailer park near my grandmother's house. It was always packed with people handing out candy. My grandma would hand-sew my costumes sometimes.

I love autumn, and it’s probably always been my favorite time of year. All the holidays kick off and my birthday comes right before Halloween, thanksgiving and then of course Christmas! The colors change and everything feels oddly comforting. As for my favorite memory, it’s almost a gestalt of thanksgivings, the German pancakes and campfire sweet potatoes, waking up early excited for the food, talking to my uncle…
come to think of it, I think my favorite memory was the thanksgiving he and my aunt visited for thanksgiving and he turned me on to classic literature. I was quite young but had read East of Eden, and he suggested I read Canterbury Tales. Linda scolded him for its salacious content and I being a bit young for it, which ensured my determination to read it and understand it. It was very difficult to read, but very funny! He helped kindle my love of reading, and that task helped me get into Shakespeare later in highschool.

I use a poster board frame and I cut leaves off of my outside plants and some from the trees and I coat them with Polyeurithian and make a background of color paper and arrange the leaves in the frame and glue them down with glue dots and sprinkle some glittery clear grass used for Easter baskets and they turn out so beautiful. Especially the elephant ears.

My favorite fall memory is playing with my nephews in the leaves 🍁 There were only two of them at the time. Now there are ten haha but i was experiencing being an aunt for the first time and i was loving raking the leaves up and throwing them both in the massive pile and then trying to find them in the red and yellow mélange of leaves as they laughed and giggled 😊

What is your best memory of autumn?
I remember as a little girl my Dad would have to take jobs outside of where we lived. He worked in construction. He had a long-term construction job in a small town several counties from where we lived. To make things easier on him, my Mom and us kids, he found a widow who owned a large house with cabins surrounding her property which ran along the wood line. He also had meals included in his stay there. This woman had no children and so adopted my Dad unofficially.
My mother would take us down there to see our Dad and spend some time in a cabin. She had a small playground and we loved to play there as well as walk to the top of the fire tower and look out over the woods. We would spend a lot of time in autumn there. It was beautiful; the trees had so many different colors and the smell of the falling leaves was intoxicating. The air was so fresh and clean; it made you want to take deep lungfuls of it. The cool of the evenings were nice as well, we would sit outside and watch the moon rise over the trees. I loved those harvest moons.
All in all, it was a wonderful experience and the widow also adopted all of us kids as well. She always had candy; and at Halloween she would make candy and caramel apples for us. It is a great childhood memory of those wonderful autumns in the wilds of my state.

What is my best memory of autumn?
I would have to say it’s when I was growing up up north and when the leaves started to change colors and somewhere around the peak colors my family going to a farm to pick out pumpkins and then to the apple orchard. This then lead to pumpkin carving soon after and saving the “guts” and seeds for cooking or planting. We also baked with apples and made apple cider.

My favorite memory of autumn is raking leaves into a pile with my friend and playing in the leaves. It was my first time raking leaves.

My favorite time of autumn was walking on my college campus, looking at wet leaves on the ground. I take the same walk to the computer lab building where it's just rolling chairs to sit on and a computer desktop to do work on. I rembr eating sushi while watching videos. Sometimes did work too - pesky essay typing.

Autumn presents the most beautiful colors in leaves and I find when they are wet they have a special shine on them too.
