Mindfulness Daily Check-In May 4, 2020

Happy Monday to everyone in the Mindfulness Community, I wish you all a great week
What does boredom tell us? 🤔
I know in the present virus situation most of us faced boredom at some point, but not only now boredom can be disturbing, many people suffer from it on a regular basis.
Boredom often masks a problem where you want to do a particular activity but something is preventing you, so you need to figure out what you really want to do.
Perhaps what you need is some mental stimulation, you can learn something new, read a book, research a topic of your interested online or
You need to fill schedule holes. Too much time is often worse than no time at all.
Do you feel bored regularly and what do you think could be the reason or was the reason in the past?

Bordem to me makes me lonely. I always try to keep myself doing something so the bordem does not sneak up on me.
I keep myself busy by working, baking, reading and doing crafts.

currently, i do! the reason i feel bored is probably because i have (as many people are right now) been staying at home for quite a long time now. another reason of me experiencing boredom would be me trying to procrastinate my tasks.

I was before but I think I've passed the "adjustment phase" when it comes to quarantine life. Now I'm finding more ways to keep busy and fill my day. In the past, I was felt like I didn't have enough to do (or more accurately I didn't WANT to do what I had to do) but I've since found my motivation to get back to a semi regular work schedule
@SecretlyMe
I think the adjustment phase is hitting all of us in one way or another. For me I had the to do list with no time to do it. While in the stay home phase I managed to get a lot of the list done.
Never bored. Rarely have I ever felt this in my life. The world is huge, there's so much to explore, learn, discover, read, learn, teach, create, organize, share, listen to - boredom is a sign that people aren't paying attention, not listening, not curious. Also, it's possible to simply "be", and not feel bored. Very different from still, simply being or noticing the stillness, silence...
Read terrific books by Echardt Tolle on Stillness. I highly recommend them.
@amiablePeace77
I feel like boredom is when your brain doesn't have anything to do, so it sends messages to another part of your brain, which sends out signals that causes you to feel as though you have nothing to do, and feel like you should do something. These signals also can make you feel hungry or tired, as they are providing you with something to occupy your mind, like go eat, or go sleep, so you are no longer bored.
@amiablePeace77
I feel bored easily which is why I tend to overload my schedule with things to do so that I can keep my mind focused on things. It's not the healthiest at times because I tend to overwork but it's been getting easier. I just hate boredom because it means I have to sit with my thoughts :(
@amiablePeace77
During this time... I have actually find many little blessings in it such as being home more, spending more time with family, as well as getting MANY things done around my house that were long over-due.
I haven't really found myself "bored" during this time (which if there was ever to be a time to be, it would be NOW while being on lock-down for so long)....
But I find that keeping myself busy during this time with"home workouts", "home-projects" and also "Continuing education" have helped me to stay on track and focused in some way, with not much time to become bored.
**I think reasons I do or have found myself bored at times whether past or present, have been due to not keeping up with these things above, or finding something of interest to occupy my time. Or even relying on "others" to fill that void for me (wether it be in the way of people or food etc...) Or focusing too much on things other people are doing and comparing my situation to what I THINK I should be doing.
@PoliteOcean
One of the benefits to me was also getting things done around the house and there is always something to do
.
I like what you mentioned about "comparing, should". There are so many things we believe we should do and which ultimately define our identity. It's nice to hear that you got off that train of thoughts and focus on more on what you really want and what helps.
@amiablePeace77 this is a wonderful post I say. Yes at times I struggle with 100% boredom. Last night it was still early for us-I WAS BORED like really bored. I wanted to do something-but nothing I thought of doing was right. I now look back is it was lack of motivation for me. I just did not want to.....
I really like this daily check in Ami-good job!
@RumpleSteeleSkin
Rumple, sounds a bit like nitpicking, all over sudden nothing you do is good enough anymore. It happens to me too when there is no motivation anymore.
@amiablePeace77
hahaha Ami you tell it like it is
It could be like nitpicking. Today a few hours ago I've gotten bored-really-bored again. So I organised some of my arts n craft things into organizers I got.
Still can't fight this silly boredom......
Do you feel bored regularly and what do you think could be the reason or was the reason in the past?
I do, I always have to be doing something new, I've been working on learning that it's okay to be bored.
, he makes very insightful videos too.
