Busy-Ness
Happy Friday everyone
One of the most heard excuses when it comes to doing something is “I'm so busy". Three little words we say all the time as a way to decline invitations or do self care for example.
How often do you catch yourself saying “I am too busy” to do self-care?
How does it feel telling yourself that you're too busy to attend to your own needs, what kind of thinking pattern do you eventually create?
Why do you think people feel too busy doing something good for them, what could be the real reason?

I say i am too busy quite often actually ahaha, 🐝🐝 ----- ----- Very often i will exhaust myself till the point of being very depressed and tired and eventually i takw a break. 🐝🐝 ----- ----- I think it is guilt. Because of feeling guilty, not achieving my goals yet, or feeling like i dont deserve a break... Thats why i dont take self care time and tell myself I'm too busy
Bubble, it’s difficult to feel like we are working toward our goals when we are exhausted and can’t think well. Breaks are important, even if only a minute. 😊. Hang in there. Goals are an endpoint. Enjoy the journey. 😁
@bubbleBalsam6602
Nice to see you! Bubble this is very understandable of how you feel guilty for not reaching your goals. And also feeling depressed, tired and exhausted you eventually do self care for a bit. huggles
But at least you see it and can admit this is going on. I tell ya I been on 7sips for 5-6 years now and last year into this year I am not ashamed to let people know I need a self care break from here. Me to have a hard time knowing that I matter too.
Do you have any plans for the rest of the weekend? Any good fun plans that you can do for you?
@amiablePeace77
Ellerz Ami thank you for this check in.
How often do you catch yourself saying “I am too busy” to do self-care? For me often. To much. I am all over the place now a days with work, school, moving, packing, taking care of animals, working at the animal shelter, making trips to pick up donations out of town and so on. So yes my self care time is in shower, brushing teeth and going to bed
How does it feel telling yourself that you're too busy to attend to your own needs, what kind of thinking pattern do you eventually create? It feels I always put myself last. I try and tell myself"I promise my time will be Saturday" ha sometimes it happens
Why do you think people feel too busy doing something good for them, what could be the real reason? I think we just go with society. The world is always fast going. Self caring sometimes is not in people's life as they were not raised that way

@RumpleSteeleSkin
That's a lot of busy-ness in your life Rumple! I agree, sadly we are not raised to focus on the most important thing to keep us healthy - self care, but we learn right from the beginning to push ourselves.
I hope that you take more time in future to attend to your own needs and this includes having fun too

@amiablePeace77
This is a great piece, thx for sharing.
I don't actually, but that's because 1 I hardly go anywhere so ima always at home and 2 ima pretty much always told when where what for care.
Hang tough stay pawsome ur friend 🔥
@Fireskye13
It sounds like your choices about how to design your day are very restricted, hugs. I hope that in future you will get the freedom of taking self care breaks, this is a right you're born with, hugs.
@amiablePeace77
Hiya, yes ima very restricted, thx for the support I hope so to!.
Hang tough stay pawsome ur friend 🔥
I say that I’ve been busy, because my version of “busy” is juggling my mental health and stress from daily life. I guess sometimes it’s an excuse but...I like making my own choices about not going vs. going to something. There are times when people ask oh what have you been up to and I don’t want to answer them. It’s like, why am I obligated to telling you these things? Because there are people who have expectations for our answers. Just had to vent a little to say that.
So, I don't really think I'm necessarily in the larger group of "I'm too busy for self-care", mostly because a lot of the times I'm the exact opposite. I have a bad habit of procrastinating. So you can say I'm "busy" with things that I don't really need to be doing at that time (such as reading too long, listening to music for too long, or just laying down for too long). I write down and think about the things I'd like to do, but I struggle with getting over distraction and having good time management. I HAVE been improving somewhat this year (for instance I've been listening to music far less than I used to), but I definitely think I need to be more busy.
@cafedaydreams
Sorry to hear that getting started and managing your time is challenging for you, nice though that things are getting better. It can be helpful to make a to-do list with achievable goals, setting priorities and fixed times for the individual tasks and of course rewards in a mindful way
@amiablePeace77 Why do you think people feel too busy doing something good for them, what could be the real reason?
Maybe people get into the comfort zone doing the same thing. Some people may get attached to their current state of mind. Change can be a fearsome thing unless we embrace change.
@amiablePeace77
How often do you catch yourself saying “I am too busy” to do self-care?
A lot although I have made it a chore each night to do something I love
How does it feel telling yourself that you're too busy to attend to your own needs, what kind of thinking pattern do you eventually create? It makes me sad because even myself needs to work on myself.
Why do you think people feel too busy doing something good for them, what could be the real reason?
because those who do for others never see that the come first otherwised they burn out.
Sorry that I am late catching up on some of these thread posts. I choose to take a well deserved, much earned and needed break for myself totally this weekend....all weekend. I earned it and I took it.
One of the most heard excuses when it comes to doing something is “I'm so busy". Three little words we say all the time as a way to decline invitations or do self care for example.
How often do you catch yourself saying “I am too busy” to do self-care? I catch myself saying that inside my own head to myself all the time, as I totally belive that responsibiliteis must be totally taken care of before you can allow yourself to have any relaxing time and any enjoyment. I was raised this way back in the 60s and have been this way for decades.
How does it feel telling yourself that you're too busy to attend to your own needs, what kind of thinking pattern do you eventually create? A lot of the time, it does create more stress in a small way for you to deal with because you are constantly dealing with what has and needs to be done first, before you are allowed to take a break and think of non-necessary things, such as pleasure things.
Why do you think people feel too busy doing something good for them, what could be the real reason? I can't answer for most people or even other people, as I do not group people and treat them all as individuals. I do feel that some people seek more pleasure before taking care of very necessary responsibilities and that ends them up sometimes in more financial stress and responsbility stress. I for myself, do not feel in doing those things or do believe in them. You can tell me all your opinions and disagreements, but, I am still going to concentrate on always doing the responsbile things first. Only when and after they are taken care of to the extent that they can be, I might indulge in a little self fun. This is just who I am, who I have been all my life, and I do not feel like changing it, as I have seen the world change it's view on this over the decades. I am no fashon statement, and I adhere to my rules for myself.
1. I do often catch myself saying "I am too busy" to do self-care more than I would like to do so.
2. It feels really frustrating, upsetting, and hurtful telling myself I am too busy to attend to my own needs.
3. I think people feel too busy to have time to do something good for themselves for a number of different reasons. Such as it is a lot easier to want to do things for others. It almost feels unnatural, uncomfortable and selfish saying you are going to create and spend time for yourself and your wants/needs/desires.
