@compassion4you14 thank you so much. The GIF distracted me from my thoughts for a good while
This GIF is really visually appealing by the way
@compassion4you14
Hiya there Compassion, thank you so much for this (lmao) check-in
HAHAHAHA I so was trying to focus just on the light, but I kept on giggling for some reason. Yes Ill confess the spider caught my eye. And then my mind was thinking on things to add to the picture and all. LMAO But in serious note, allowing our minds to flutter is really ok
I learned this morning that in order to gently bring your mind back to here and now- back to what you are doing, is actually being mindful and present. I had fun in this and in no way judged my giggling or watching the spider or bat.
So really thank you for this!! You made my morning

@RumpleSteeleSkin - it was really hard not to be distracted but it felt ok to just turn back to the flame as soon as i realized
@KrinkTheMellowUnicorn
Hiya Krinkie
Good to see you in check-in today. Good job at just noticing you wondered and came back to the flames. Yes I loved the pic it was busy for me but I did ok.
P.S. where ya go? Unicornland
@RumpleSteeleSkin
Yay! I'm glad that I was able to make your morning by making you giggle so much! I would also confess that your reply made me giggle a lot and then I went back to check out the GIF again and it made me laugh so much.
So, I can't blame you for having a good laugh.
Regarding the other thing, I agree that it is okay to allow our minds to flutter and making an effort to bring your mind back to focus really does count as being mindful.
It's amazing to know that you had so much of fun while doing this focusing exercise.
> Were you able to focus without letting your thoughts or the objects divert your attention?
I am having trouble with this for I was in crisis and have not slept all night. Sorry.
> How did it make you feel?
I feel very unsupported and uncareded for and unwanted and my life life overwhelming
@compassion4you14
> Were you able to focus without letting your thoughts or the objects divert your attention?
At the first try no, and I easily can explain why: visually movements catch our attention, especially at that speed of this gif. Things that showed up haven't been expected so not focusing on them at first try is very likely not doable within practice.
To be honest I feel like a trigger warning would be much appreciated.
However it was a fun way to get the idea of mindfulness across. :)
> How did it make you feel?
Pretty much uncomfortable at the beginning. I liked how you called it a simple exercise and I'm looking forward to your harder ones. I hope I'll survive them without getting a cardiac arrest LOL .
Kudos to you. :)
@kindSoul10 I had a typo. I meant without practice not within practice.
@compassion4you14
Thanks for checking in.
> Were you able to focus without letting your thoughts or the objects divert your attention?
No I wasn't able to focus.
> How did it make you feel?
It made me sad because I have been trying to focus this week.
@compassion4you14
did it 5 times, it became easier. my thought was that a spider could burn easily but may be it also has something to do with speed and direction so that that kind of visual distraction was stronger than the distraction with the bird passing by fast.
Hi everyone, just wanted to share this with you
Two Wolves - A Cherokee Parable
An old Cherokee chief was teaching his grandson about life...
"A fight is going on inside me," he said to the boy.
"It is a terrible fight and it is between two wolves.
"One is evil - he is anger, envy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority, self-doubt, and ego.
"The other is good - he is joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion, and faith.
"This same fight is going on inside you - and inside every other person, too."
The grandson thought about it for a minute and then asked his grandfather,
"Which wolf will win?"
The old chief simply replied,
"The one you feed."
@amiablePeace77 thanks for sharing!
