Weekly sharing of Goals! Week #14 2024 (Monday 04/01/24 - Sunday 04/07/24)

User Profile: IsayUncle

I welcome anyone to commit to a goal here today.

But importantly, talk about getting it done..... or why it didn't happen yet.

To praise each other for our efforts and wins.

While supporting each other through trials and setbacks.

And to continue trying and not give up.

Remember:
Every Goal should be considered "Worthy".
Never belittle your achievements and be proud of yourself for your daily accomplishments!
Whether they be Complex or Simple.
Getting out of bed is a good day..... Good job I say!

Share your goals today, for support and encouragement.

Good Morning and Happy Monday.  It has been a while since I've posted here, been here, kept up with what is going on here, or just came to 7cups in general.  I'm trudging along in life....mostly existing, or what I call my "status quo" when it comes to my job and overall life in general.  I'm getting all the important, need to do to get through life, things done. One place in life I am setting some "higher" goals for myself is my fitness journey.  While I dedicate an hour a day to a workout, 5 or 6 days a week, there is more I could be doing and more I want to do.  2 goals I am adding that start today are:  Drink at least one 32oz bottle of water each day, and add cold therapy to my daily routine at least 3 times a week.  The water....I drink plenty of "pre and post workout drinks, re hydration drinks, and protein drinks" but no plain water.  So I have decided to incorporate at least one bottle of plain water each day.  The cold therapy....research says its very good for you....I've never done it before....it will work like this:  When I shower after my workout, I will end with 30 seconds of "cold shower", turn back to warm, then up the time, and repeat until I can tolerate more.  My long term goal is to end with 3 minutes of completely cold shower.  I don't have access to an ice bath so cold water showers will have to do....I say three times a week because I've not done this before so I will work my way into it, a little at a time, with colder water each time until my body gets used to it....This will be a big deal for me because I hate the cold...

I'm also purchasing a new bicycle this week.  A Gravel Bike so I can expand my riding horizons.....when I ride the road bike, I'm all about speed, distance and time.....so.... a long term goal is to get off the beaten path (roads), slow down on my bike rides, and enjoy the outdoors and the ride in general.  Not so much a "workout ride"' so to speak but a recreational one......recreational riding is something I've never done and don't know how to do....I've always challenged myself to push harder, farther, and faster all the time.....

I hope you all the best in reaching your goals this week, no matter how small or how large....just remember, if you want to reach a larger goal, break it down into little manageable parts....it helps a lot.

@CyclingThroughLife

One cool thing I always like about you posting here cycling, you're always fighting the good fight. And this post is no different.

I'm really happy to hear that you're going at it with your fitness and your health. Since I've known you that has been your anchor and it's a good one. Congratulations on continuing with it. I always have a hard time wanting to drink water but I drink liquids throughout the day and I often wondered why they say just water versus you know lots of liquids and now I think I realize or understand it, that the water cleans out your kidneys and cleans out your system and it doesn't have a lot of additives to it. So now I think just plain water is better than a lot of different fluids. IDK just saying.

I remember us talking about bikes before and I've been wanting to get one of those mountain bikes and I guess the gravel bike is just about the same. I think that's a great idea, they can really go anywhere and you can really enjoy your riding then.

Did you ever continue your challenge with your other bicycling group?

Good to hear from you again. I love that quote and would like to add that daily consistency is as important as daily improvements. (we don't always have to be improving but we need to hold the line on the improvements that we're working on). Does that make sense?

If you are somewhere that experienced chilly winters stepping outside can be as beneficial. There was a study done that discussed the importance of temperature not necessarily the bath. Here in Alaska I usually step outside for a moment come back in then step back out, weather dependent of course.

fitness is a good goal. Many people will over think what fitness is and become overwhelmed with the changes needed. But small incremental changes over time will still result in better health and progress into big changes. Good luck with your goals.

That is amazing with so many different classes in one day. I never thought about the different age groups or even interest levels of each individual child. WOW WOW WOW. I think you're an amazing home schooler. I know being on the inside looking out ain't the same but trust your motives, you're doing great.

OH NO..... Not the dreaded driving age. 😬. Start grooming her to do some chauffeuring and shopping. LOL 🤣. win win. I used to love it when my father made me go get stuff for him when I first started driving.

We got our job done yesterday. Backhoe fixed and tank in the ground! Feeling good!😃. Today I'm trying to get the to get back to my core balance. Is it rainy moderate temperature day. I got both the doors open and the dogs are enjoying the lounging around while I continue with the house chores.

It was a huge deal to get that tank done because it was the first job that brought us out of the red and into the black financially. Tomorrow I'm gonna go to the bank and open up a separate business banking account and deposit a little bit of money. We've been working for about two or three months with no paycheck and just paying for the business expenses but now we're all caught up. Not getting too excited about the future but being a little bit more hopeful.

Hi

So my goal is to only do my assignment tomorrow and complete it and not get distracted by doing anything else. I also need to make sure I have enough time to study.

This assignment is due the 3d. I really want to finish it tomorrow, well I have to!

I haven't done it because I was procrastinating but I watched a video tonight on procrastination 😑 and realised I really have a high fear of failure and then I tend to freeze and avoid the task because i feel like I can't do it, its too hard.  So if anyone have tips on how to not freeze and how to just do it, please...

Please ask me the 3d if I did my assignment. :)

@Novelwriter

ohohh man, I know exactly what you mean about freezing before getting to the finish line. I don't know why that happens to me either but I've learned a little bit of a trick and I'll share with you.

For me, I get so amped up about getting it done then it's like I get all the hard stuff done first and then there's just the easy stuff at the end that I just don't get to. Arrgh!

Now I know that the hard stuff is really at the end and I prepare myself to push harder at the end to finish regardless of all the obstacles that the mind wants to play tricks up with you.

I will check with you tomorrow to see if you finished it but I'm checking with you today to make sure that you don't procrastinate. Just get it done. You can do it, you sound like a fighter to me.

I know, it can be hard sometimes. When we have something important to do, it seems like our minds starts to work overtime just thinking about trying to do it and really tires our brains out but not really doing anything at all except worrying about it.

At times like this, just get at it just start the task just know that it's one foot in front of another. Stop thinking about it. You can do it. I hope you get your second wind this evening. Sometimes that's when I get the most done.

READY...., SET...., GO!

Hello. I hope you are well. I guess I want to do this a few days and see if it helps.

My goals for today is to finish my assignment and submit it and try to do it as best as possible.

Then to be at work from 11am to 18:00 to make sure I have everything ready in my class (since I just got my own class). To make a list and see what I need.

I might not be done with my assignment completely after work so I want to continue doing it.

Then if I submit it I want to take 2 hours to spring clean my place so that I can start studying for my test tomorrow.

I really hope I can get all this done. It is a bit much taken the amount of work but I need to do it. 😀

Thank you, I hope you feeling well today too. You do have a lot on your plate today. You might have to rest a little bit in between so I wouldn't feel bad about that, but if you stay at it I think you'll get done mostly what you wanna get done. 😅.

Have you picked a single "must do" item to get done today or are you going to try to blanket everything so that it's all easier to finish up later?

Hey I guess today is kinda do everything because its extra cause of procrastinating preciously.. But I am going to believe that I can do everything. :)

So far I made lots of progress on my assignment. I was working from 4am to 9am. I had strange motivation that made me kept going... I took a small break 9-10.. went to work to sort a few things, came back home to eat. Took a 20 min nap. Going to school again at 1pm...

So I guess so far I didn't do too bad. :) and I feel rested.

Hello. I did submit it yes. I submitted it 2 hours before it was due.

Then I started studying. I am tired lol. I slept at 2am.

Now up at 6am.

So my plan for today is to get up now, get done quickly, study for a few more hours. Write test at 10:30- 11:30, maybe take a 20 min nap and then go to work. Then tonight i have to clean because I ran put of time yesterday.

Oh i also have to send an email to my lecturer there's lots of things i don't understand. :/

I also then have to prepare to teach tomorrow... it's so much I want to go back to bed to sleep hahaha but i won't. It's also so much this week because of me procrastinating.

You wore yourself out just thinking about all this stuff you have to do. hahaha. (I joke but be careful with recognizing that.... breath.) You do have an active list in front of you and I hope you continue to persevere. With working, classes, cleaning, and other stuff, i don't see where you can say that you procrastinate that much. Just saying 🧐.

Congratulations on getting your assignment submitted. Fantastic accomplishment.

Hey, I'm really sorry you failed your test. You've been working so hard so that must have been very discouraging. I'm sorry 😟. Will you be able to retake it and will that be hard?

Was that the assignment that you turned in yesterday or was that something separate? I wish I had seen that post sooner but I haven't been on the thread for a while either. It very nice meeting you and I'm glad it helped a little bit.

After your class on Saturday, it'll be great for you to take a break from everything. (including posting) I know I asked you a couple questions but those answers can wait. I hope you have a great rechargeable weekend. Fresh start next week... Vroom Vroom. 😀

I've been wanting to do something like that for years and have not found the time to do it but I don't think it really will take a lots of time. But definitely getting started and it will take something it will take time for sure. Do It and let us know how it comes out.

If you grow enough tomatoes just remember, tomato pants must be hand washed and hung on the vine to dry.🤣

@IsayUncle I sent the code that I compiled at work to my home email address. I downloaded it then went to open the program I'm supposed to use. I couldn't open it.

I went to the site and downloaded the newest version (the one I had was out of date) and the new version was able to import the saved files from the old version.

Tomorrow I will check the program and start the project (I have to double-check how the professor wants it saved).

Whew, that must have been a little scary and frustrating.
To do all that work and then to possibly not be able to open it. I think I would have freaked out.

Great job at being persistent and getting that updated version. I am sooo happy to hear it worked and now you can move forward. OBVIOUSLY.... GOOD JOB on getting the code right.

@IsayUncle well I'm still not out of the woods. The code is in and I'm getting errors. I don't know what I'm doing wrong and I don't know how to search for it. But, I was able to do an activity that I couldn't do before so I was able to record course involvement. I was in danger of being dropped because a lack of involvement. The old system let you self-certify involvement (like if you read materials or did something else related to the course) but the new one doesn't.

I can push the due date back but it would help if I could understand the structure better.

User Profile: Enthenia
Enthenia April 14th, 2024

@IsayUncle So I worked some more on it and it came back as a success! The dog was good and was patient with me.

I had some extra spaces between words which resulted in the errors. Once I removed them, it was successful.

It was probably hard to focus on your code and not you give your pup some attention. But you did what you had to do and you got it done. That was a great find about the spaces. 😲 Good good good, keep it up.

@IsayUncle she was resting because we had just come back from playing outside.

This code is extremely literal and you have to make sure the structure is consistent. Four and four are two different things. Even spaces count as characters so if you add some without thinking, it changes the meaning.

I don't know why it's giving me so much trouble. I feel like I'm back in high school algebra. Those concepts confused me too.

User Profile: IsayUncle

@Enthenia

That sounds all so very exacting. It must wear out the brain! I was glad to hear your dog got some play time. YAY.

It sounds like to me that you're getting the concept but learning all the rules it's proving to be very challenging. I think there's like probably a zillion rules so of course it's going to be very challenging. But every time you fail at one and figure it out, it's a couple less than a zillion that you don't know.

You are working so very hard and you will learn all the rules as you need to. You will be one of the best coders ever, as long as you don't give up. I know having to work at an undesirable job makes it that much more difficult but don't give up take it one day at a time. You're doing great.

That's perfect! That degree is where you wanna go right now. It may not be easy to get there but it is wonderful that it is a clear concise road for you to follow. You have been traveling it with the spirit of success and perseverance. Stay at it.

After you get there, maybe you take a deep breath, look around and choose another Road. But until then, take care of the pup, study hard for your degree, and sludge through your job because that is something we all must get used to doing so remember, practice makes perfect.

Don't forget to go out and have some fun but stay sensible.😊
