Hi everyone. I saw a lot of you love k dramas. I love them too! Are there any adults here who love kpop and if so how has kpop helped your mental health journey?

I'm a huge fan and member of the BTS army. BTS and their lyrics have helped me immensely through several tough times in my mental health journey. Also, their personalities and their humor has made me smile when it was hard to.

I'm also a casual listener of Mamamoo and Purple Kiss.

@BorahaeAndHappiness

Hearing Suga talk about mental health is what introduced me to them!

Their song spring day is soo calming to me.

Plus, their choreography to it is so beautiful to watch!

What’s your favorite song by them?💜

  • @innateJoy9602 oh my goodness it's too hard to pick a favorite. A lot of their songs have been so healing to me. When I was going through a hard time Not Today and I'm Fine were a big help to me.

I also have Live tattooed on my arm in reference to Namjoon's verse in Magic Shop. And a winter bear tatoo too.

I was first introduced to Kdramas in 2006, then, the OSTs of the dramas I watched, led me into exploring Kpop. My all-time favourite is Super Junior. My playlist of music, are 90% of their songs. I find that KRY, either singing as a sub-group or solo, their vocals are so soothing. IU also has a beautiful vocal that is very soothing too.

There are other groups and soloists that I find with good vocals, and listening to them also calms the mind. Kpop has definitely made a positive impact on my mental health in the past decades, and will continue to be a part of my life until they retire from entertainment/singing.

There are many individuals who are known for their generosity through donations, as ambassadors, or simply sharing their mental health struggles. All of them, are an inspiration to see how they've managed to pull-through. On the other hand, we also see many who never got the help and took their own lives.

@BorahaeAndHappiness KDramas and KPop are good!! I was introduced to Kpop from listening to BTS i think!! From then on although I didnt explore other groups, I heavily got into listening to RM and Suga!! I have all their albums, Mono is in top 3!! Sugas albums are good too.

I really liked how easy and soothing it is to listen to Mono. Such great lyrics, such great melodies. Forever Rain is one of my favouritees ever.

When it comes to KDramas, the first KDrama I ever watched was Reply 1988!! It made me cry so much!! I could relate to everything, from siblings fighting, to friendship, to one sided love to every situation they focused in!! After that I didnt watch KDrama for long lol, but when I did, I watched Hospital Playlist (cutest, made me cry), If You Wish Upon Me etc!! I saw manyy I cant even remember the name just what they made me feel.

And yess, they all changed me as a person, and that in itself is like 10k words long novel lmao.

Hello ARMY's!!

Well I'm 21 my friend introduced bts to me and I was just not interested in them their songs or dance or anything except their friendship for like a year or so I never even once listened to their songs or their work but for sure I watched videos of how good friends they were and then after being curious I read the lyrics of their songs that was the point I started listening and understanding their songs and their work..

@BorahaeAndHappiness

I found BTS randomly on a Pinterest video after i spent 3 days having multiple panick attacks and couldn't stay or sleep alone for a moment.

After the video i searched them and found an RM live and watching it i fell asleep in my room by myself. Since then their voices , personalities and songs have been giving me comfort and strength.

Not a huge Kpop fan but I do listen. My little sister is a fan of BTS. I’m more into the ex-group 2NE1. Blackpink isn’t bad but their songs are so unrelatable. Lisa’s dollar bill, dollar bill is quite catchy (bad message though), but their song Venom is a total weird out for me. I have no clue where that song is going.

Currently I love Moon Byul’s cover of Psy’s song Second World.

Used to listen a lot to Aliee’s Heaven; Bolbbalgan’s Some; IU’s cover of the meaning of you; Ji-Yoon’s Beep!!

Have ya listen to Aliee’s version of speechless?! It is amazing. Awesome control of her vocal!

I’m more of a kdrama fan! The last one I watched, Mr. Queen and Forbidden Marriage were so funny.

Overall, I think kpop is just like Hollywood. Be careful of what you listen to and everything isn’t what it seems on stage. Korean entertainment can be quite the bully of the celebrities who don’t meet the standard. They often fat shame!

I agree, Korean entertainment overall is very controversial. Even the Korean Fans of Kpop groups are very extreme. Every time, they will boycott a member just because they did something that a normal citizen would do in their personal life. Then, because of so much hate and negativity that happens around that member, they are forced to leave their group and go solo. If those idols cannot deal with all the negativity they would fall into depression.

I don't understand why Korean Fans have to always go to that extreme. Kpop idols are human too, just like them. Except their profession is different, but they are human. They can date people, get married, and have their own family. They still go through a lot of ups and downs just like us, they still do get depression and all the other mental health problems.

I love Kdramas too. I watch mostly the Medical, Crime/Mystery genres. Then, depending on the female and male leads that I'm a fan of, I'll go watch their dramas too.

@Jaeteuk

I think Kpop fan are just like anywhere else. Each country has things they values and focus on. It just is that Korea is a country where look just matter to the extreme and people will boycott/spit hate for that. International fan base don't seem to value the same, although they enjoy such beauty. I guess this is why when you see Korean audience hate an idol, the international fan base will defend the idol instead.

I don't follow actors. I usually like the characters or the drama itself. Just cause an actor can portray a kind and nice character doesn't mean they embody such traits. For all I know, the actor smile on stage and scold behind stage. Stories about rude celebrities are no joke.

I love all medical dramas, and probably watched the majority of them.

Doctor Stranger, Doctors, Medical Top Team, Hospital Playlist Season 1 & 2 (this is more about a group of friends, doctors from different specialties, so the storyline is still talking about surgeries, the friendship and romance between the group of friends is also a key part), Dr. Romantic (currently playing Season 3), Good Doctor (the US copied the idea from this and had made it into their own drama).. Maybe start with these for now, see what type of Medical you like to watch, some are more into the Surgeries, and others focus more on the stories behind the leads.

Thank yoooou I'll check them out. Which ones are more into the surgeries? I tried Hospital Playlist but it didn't go into the surgeries enough for me so I kinda got disinterested haha. I'm a big Grey's Anatomy fan here in the US so they kinda set my bar on medical dramas hehe.

More into the surgeries, Doctor Stranger (more heart surgeries), Dr. Romantic series (trauma center), Good Doctor (one of my favourites, watched it several times), Golden Time (it's like the American version of ER).. there are some older ones, Brain, OB & GY.. and if you like medical dramas that involves in solving crimes, God's Quiz is a good series (a total of 5 Seasons).
