Hello, community! We're firing up the Leadership Spotlight again with a highly muttitalented mentor!

@Izzy274 joined our listener community in 2020 and has since sprouted into a thriving leader. She's a mentor in both the Academy and Quality domains and contributes to many different areas of the community in various roles (chatroom moderator, room supporter, and Sharing Circle host to name a few!).

To Izzy's nominator: why did you nominate Izzy?
Since my first interaction with Izzy quite a while ago, my view on her remains the same. Smart and mindful. She knows what she wants to do, and when she chose to do a critical point as a new mentor, I just knew she can pull it off. And she does. Her feedback for trainess are clear, and thoughtful. Her words are kind and supportive.

In 3 words Izzy is focused, reliable, and laid back

We asked Izzy some questions to get to know her better!

1. What motivates you to be a volunteer?
There are so many things that motivate me to volunteer here on 7 Cups, from the listeners and team leaders that constantly support and encourage me to always improve as a listener, to the members I have met - their stories and experiences have truly opened my mind up and shaped me as a person, and I believe there is so much that we can learn from listening to others. Overall it is the community of 7 Cups that motivates me to volunteer here.

2. Your proudest 7 Cups achievement?
My proudest achievement on 7 Cups so far is becoming a chatroom mod. It represents a big personal step for me, as in the past my social anxiety prevented me from supporting in busy group rooms. It feels great to be taking this next step in my personal journey by hosting sessions, and I’m proud to be able to support members in community rooms and hopefully create a welcoming and supportive environment for everyone joining.

3. If you had one piece of advice for our community (leaders/listeners/members/whoever), what would it be?

For everyone - Sometimes the smallest action can make the biggest difference to someone’s day, whether it be checking in with a mentee/ member, welcoming a newbie into a group chat, or taking some time to reply to forum posts, it’s important to remember that we’re all real people behind these screens, and you have the power to really impact a person 😊.

4. What’s next for you on your 7 Cups journey?
I’m not sure what’s next for me here, but I’m excited to see what opportunities arise for me. I’d like to continue to support CDM trainees in their programme and have an active role in the Anonymous Evaluations team, and help to work on new ideas throughout all the teams I work on, as 7 Cups is a constantly evolving place and there are always exciting new projects beginning!

Thank you for your service!

@izzy274

Hiya Izzy, a big congratulations for the spotlight, I loved your answers, specially this particular statement because I resonate with it the most, "It’s important to remember that we’re all real people behind these screens, and you have the power to really impact a person.", always such a nice reminder that we are all humans behind the screen, and the feelings, the component that makes us real and *human* should matter the most always. For they touch hearts, and indeed create an impact, a lasting one.

I feel spotlights and appreciations come in late sometimes, but the feelings of gratitude and content after supporting someone, contributing positively somewhere and creating an impact somehow, is instantly felt. So thank*you* for continuing to contribute to the community and making an impact in many ways, and continuing at it with the feelings of gratitude and content in heart. You've been a tremendously amazing presence around and you so deserve all the recognition and applause. ❤ Keep at it, lovely!
