What does Spring mean to you?

Spring to me is a time of rebirth and new life. It returns the feeling of how alive everything is that only a while ago appeared lifeless. At times in my life, I felt that same sense of emptiness and Spring was a welcome relief from the cold, gray winter.

Spring is like a two sided season for me. On one hand, it’s stressful because it’s a time when everything would go wrong for me for several years. So I get a bit anxious. My great grandma also passed away on Good Friday of 2017, so Easter is a bittersweet holiday for me. But on the other hand, I love it because everything starts to bloom and nature becomes something I am in awe of. The birds and bees are active. I love planting flowers and watching them bloom. It’s a very exciting yet anxious time of year for me 💕🩵🌸

What does Spring represent to you?

To me spring means new beginnings, a new start. Although we do not have the 4 seasons as other countries but a so-called wet and dry season I can feel my spirits being lifted. It's like nature is awakening and ready to show her beauty and strength.

Spring is almost like a transition period for me, not just weather wise but with the school year, life happenings, and renewal that it can give. Some people don’t like the cloudy days or the rainy days but when I am in a good mood, they are some of my favorite days, depending on what I did that day.

Late snow falls? Just kidding - although I do expect those.

I enjoy seeing things come back. Buds on trees, Green slowing poking out from the brown, seedling coming up in the garden. I've had to pull back on gardening a bit but there's still the promise of produce to come.

There's lots of little simple pleasures. There's a road drain right out front, my husband is the one who does the majority of the chipping, especially the heavy duty stuff to get a trail for water from all the melted ice to run down. I can't chip much, but I do help a bit and it's very satisfying to watch a large puddle upstream drain away!

I find summer fall and winter all have obvious things - beach days, summer vacations, harvest, Halloween, a new 'year' as school resumes which radiates to other areas for those of us not in school, pretty snow falls, Christmas, real New Year. For spring holidays they are more subdued - Easter, May long weekend and the little simple pleasures like those mentioned above, plus the first day of the year of really enjoying the sun's warmth sitting back in a t-shirt.

@AffyAvo wow you must have a lot of ice. Winters can be rough in the north country!

Late snow and sun high in the sky is a quick melt.

@soulsings Yeah, we don't get the huge amounts like further east tends to get, but with the snow that pompacts as windrows at the sides of the road it adds up. Some people don't chip the ice and it creates a big mess, especially as snow from people's yards runs into the street too. Freeze/thaw cycles in early spring can make things unsafe.

Walking in the early spring is worse than the winter I find, as some parts of the neighbourhood have roads and sidewalks that turn into a big skating rink with melting water on top. Luckily our street doesn't get too bad.

Spring is a time of rebirth and renewal. It represents a new beginning, growth, and the end of the dormant winter period. A time to feel vibrant, happy, and alive again. The emergence of new life, blossoming flowers, sunshine, and warmth. Aaah it makes me happy to think about it.
