Phishing Scam: PLEASE READ!
Hello Community,
In recent days, we've seen a phishing scam in our community. You do not have anything to be concerned about.
However, we ask that you take extra care in the following ways:
- do not click on strange links
- do not log in again when you are already logged in
- be sure to look in the address bar when on a new web page
Additionally, please note:
- 7 cups site is always at 7cups.com ,etc
- If you are concerned at all, please change your 7 Cups password
- If you have opted-in to the 7 Cups automatic welcome program, we are sending welcomes out! This is not part of the scam.
If you believe you may have been hacked:
1. use this form to let admin know about your situation.
2. change your password right away if you can.
3. we will reset it for you if you have been locked out.

@KrinkTheMellowUnicorn I did that right away, the most chiling thing is that the hacker when into a chat and sent messages to a member.. but they were to me.
The hacker told me to change the password adn apologized.. YikeS

Haven't seen this personally but please be careful with what you click on everyone. Especially if the links are shorterned to hide the actual address. If you get doubts, check the URL bar. The official one, for any thread, will look exactly like this:
If you've already logged in, before you enter your information, divert back and click on a safe link, such as the "My Impact" Page and see if you are still logged in; also remember to report anyone sharing such links around.
Edit: There is a phishing email being sent around too. Gmail currently is flagging it to spam, thankfully but be careful opening such emails and links within them.
Perhaps not exactly like that. The exact appearance depends on the web browser you are using.
Chrome and Firefox, for example, say that this page you are reading now is not secure, but that's partly because the image @Jack posted here is not secure. No one should worry too much about the security of forum threads.
The important page is the User Login page. If that page is at https://www.7cups.com/login.php and secure, then you're OK.
If your web browser remembers your user name and password for you, then it is checking the page automatically each time you log in and you do not have to check it yourself. You can simply trust your web browser.
I feel it's also important to remember that many of the people who come to 7 Cups are already troubled or anxious, and that unnecessary additional anxiety helps no one. Laura's original post contains the information everyone needs, and as she has already pointed out, you do not have anything to be concerned about.

My browser (Chrome) still retains this is a secure page, not that it was in anyway indicating to the Secure (padlock) area; but indeed to the www.7cups.com which is a unique domain. I am well aware of the types of people who visit the site, having been here a while; and nothing I have said does, or indeed should, cause any additional anxiety. It's simply basic safety reminders to help people who aren't as aware of such topics as they might need to be.
I also added the details of the phishing email to clarify that I have had this sent to me; and confirmed it was a malicious email; so that anyone else in doubt about such email(s) can see and be more informed as a result. Nobody is stating there is any reason for any form of alarm or concern over this, as it has been noticed and is being handled.
Sorry if this post wasn't meant in that way, but having read it, I felt I should clarify on that just in case.

What action does admin take when they are given information that the security of the site might be/is being compromised?
@rebel11 - we examine the attack vectors and develop new defenses against them, while warning the community team and trying to constantly build resiliency among the community given the social nature of most hacks (tricking people to click a link, etc.)

@Laura, If you must open a link and you are worried it may not be safe then you can always check it for safety on this site: www.google.com/transparencyreport/safebrowsing/diagnostic/. Better safe than sorry

7 Cups is a long running and very legitimate service and app. Unfortunately from time to time malicious people try to harm the integrity of the site. There is nothing to worry about though! Just some malicious people trying to gain people's account information. I'm sure it's being handled; this post is to just keep everyone aware of it.

Hard to say what their motive is. Some people just enjoy doing such things; it's not the first issue we've faced, and I doubt it'll be the last, but the community always pulls through it. 
@Hannah578 from the hacker i talked to, he said was going after internet bullies. He said hd had no interest in hacking good people umm ?

Let's not speculate regarding the person's reasons. I have chatted with them also--and it sounds like they give everyone a different story. The point of this thread is just to inform people about being vigilant and remain aware.
