One more self harm help mondsy to go 🍃
Every Monday, reply with your 3 'W's in the comments:
1. Win: What is one small victory you had this week? (Even if it’s just 1 hour clean, or using a distraction tactic).
2. Wave: Did you face a heavy wave/urge this week? How did you ride it out?
3. Word: What is one encouraging word or piece of advice you want to leave for the person who comments after you?
Lets set our rules now:
• The Buddy Reply Rule: Once you post your update, please read the comment right above yours and leave them a message of encouragement, a heart emoji, or a supportive thought!

A win: I was clean for my father’s birthday
A wave: I did face one and I used the method of the elastic band instead of sh and surprisingly it worked
A word: reaching out for help is one of the bravest steps you’ve made and there are plenty to come
@FairyPeanut
So glad to hear that! It seems awesome!
Well done for managing to stay clean for your father's bday!
Well done for riding out the wave! I dont know this method!. Would you mind sharing?
What a nice message🍃
You are doing great. Keep up the amazing work you are doing
@cheerfulKiwi1776
Thank you, and yeah ofc I can share this method. I can't remember where I found it but it was probably on a post around here, if someone knows where and who was the author, feel free to share it.
Coping mechanisms don't function for everyone so it helps to try to understand why we're seeking self-harm in the first place. For me it was partly for the immediate result of it and the shock it provides in me, so I looked for similar ways to cope. Some of them in this category could be rubbing an ice cube on your skin, popping a balloon, taking a cold shower, taking a shot of lemon juice or the one I tried which is flicking an elastic band where I usually self-harm. It's supposed to be temporary so I don't know if I'd recommend it because it could replace sh in the long run and it's not the objective but it's not as bad so it's always a step towards healing.
There are plenty others coping mechanisms though and I'd encourage everyone to look for the most effective for them. I can think of watching a good movie, doing some physical exercise, breathe, meditate, mark your skin with a red marker, etc.
I've searched it up and there are actually plenty of posts related to this and explaining those same methods and more, but here are some of the most detailed ones I could find:
- Reasons to stay clean & Skills/Coping tips, by @ShyPine235
- 'Tricks' to use to stop/prevent/help with SH, by @LittleLotte
- Self Harm Alternatives That Leave No Marks, by @beanbutton
- Self-Harm Distraction Strategies, @rebecca947
and one I appreciate bc it's probably the first one I read about this and it held the words I needed to hear at that time
- Summer and Self Harm, by @insightfulEyes3026

Win: What is one small victory you had this week? (Even if it’s just 1 hour clean, or using a distraction tactic).
just not acting on the thoughts i been having as in not SHing
2. Wave: Did you face a heavy wave/urge this week? How did you ride it out?
this week a lot of waves of emotions and self harm thoughts
i rode them out my sleeping, talking on 7cups and playing games on my tablet as ones i play you have to focus on so that helped me a lot to not think on the self harm urges
3. Word: What is one encouraging word or piece of advice you want to leave for the person who comments after you?
remember your scars show you been though battles and your still here and fighting them your not defined by your scars but they tell a story of your bravery and your battles but you are trying to learn to cope in better ways so be proud of self for that too
@stormieandpaws
Also, take care of yourself. You are strong
@cheerfulKiwi1776
on my healing journey i found words can either tore you down or build you up same with thoughts too
@stormieandpaws
Well done for not self harming and well dont for riding out all of the urges by using distraction tactics! Thats so great isnt it?
Amazing words you have for us🤍

win: i went 4 days clean
wave: relapsed today
word: care for your wounds. just bc it wasnt an accident doesnt mean you dont deserve care amd healing
@pinkiepie1724
Well done for the 4 days streak. I understand its hard to relapse and I m sorry you felt that way. I m sending lots of hugs your way. You are strong.
Thanks for your encouraging words🤍
@pinkiepie1724
I know there are times where even one day free feels like an impossible task, so truly good job on four days.
Relapses are always difficult ans annoying no matter how long you have been clean. Trying not to let it keep you down or affect your future is the more important part, you can't let your past take over your present because you won't let it go. (Talking as much to myself as giving general advice to all readers)
Thank you for the word of motivation/reminder. Taking care of wounds is something I definitely, and others might, forget to do. (I have no idea if what I just said made any sense I just reread it and it still doesn't read right in my head T - T)

Hey kiwi it's been a bit sorey I keep missing these Mondays are super busy for me so I will try to reply on Tuesdays or something in the future if I can still I love reading them whenever I see them as it's very encouraging, thank you ^ ^
Win; I think I am a week or three clean now? Idk for sure August was a blur but it's been a bit and that's good.
Waves; definitely had some. I road through them by being busy or distracted so not much on my part lol T - T
Word; I've been in another clone wars/starwars mood so a quote and an analysis "Gives us clones a mixed feelings about the war. Many people wish it never happened. But without it, we Clones wouldn't exist." SH or anything can give you mixed feelings. You can wish it never happened i know I sure do. But at the same time you wouldn't be the same person you are today with out it, maybe you would have been better maybe you'd have been worse maybe you wouldn't have made it. Don't be thankful it happened, be thankful you are made to where you are now.

Take care of yourself and celebrate yojr achievements ✨️🤍
@cheerfulKiwi1776
I haven't sh in a while, cant remember how long I've been so busy I lost track. Its been a couple of weeks tho so that's good I guess.
Haven't really had as bad of urges, but I've also had a lot going on so maybe that's helped with that as well.
You don't have to go through this alone, things may seem hard now but with time it will get better.
(I took a break from cups for a while so I'm kinda late on this post 🫠)
@IzzyGamer
Its your okie you took a break. Prioritize yourself first🤍
