Button for Therapy
can you explain this new change?

This is on there... and its just... smack glab in the middle....
Why is this HUGE?

Edit
I feel that the button is the least of the site's worries. There is no need for the button to be all in your face. You catch more flies with honey than you can in this manner.
I just don't think that it goes well and it throws off my entire experience on this site as a member who will never get online therapy
It's back and I can't see the right cookie to change it.
If people are aware that this site offers "therapy", why is it being blasted everywhere I look?
I get it! 7c offers "therapy"
Whoop dee doo.
I get the feeling that this site cares more about "sustainability" than the people seeking help.
I cleared all my cookies, and nope it is back to orange and stll orange! Orange clearly gives people migraines and pisses us off. If your purpose is to make sure that people try the therapy, your marketing skills aren't working. I find all of these constant pushes for therapy to be intrusive and to get into way of me getting support.
Similar to what Tears has been saying in the post above me, I am starting to feel like there is more value being placed in things that get the site money than into what the people on this site actually want. We get it, you offer therapy, but there is no reason to have to advertise it everywhere in such intrusive manners that causes the majority of your users to get upset.
Please prove us wrong and change what we see. Because right now, it feels like what we feel doesn't matter to you all.
@KrinkTheMellowUnicorn
@HalliwellSister This type of marketing is called psychological marketing. They use specific colors and words to attract your attention and make it more likely for you to click on it, so essentially it is clickbait. They try on different words and colors and specific combinations and test out which one would most likely cause you to click on it and be baited. In my opinion, this button is traumatising to my eyes and distracting me whenever it changes words or colors. Another thing is why are we not given enough and sufficient information about the "donation" of our personal private messages and data? What is being used exactly, as in one post it clearly stated that EVERYTHING is being used and donated for research purposes and why is it automatically an opt-in option and why aren't we explicitly, clearly, and distinctively told about this option, instead of randomly finding out about it in the settings? How is it being used and what is being used, exactly. The way it currently is right now, would be regarded by many, as unethical and unprofessional "medical" practice.
*sigh* I've resorted to opening another program (I'm using notepad as it's one I find to be non-distracting looking and is easy to resize) and thowing that up over my internet browser to block the orange so I can read forums. Everytime I click I have to bring it to the foreground again, but I am able to scroll while keeping it up.
That seems like a lot more trouble than using Tampermonkey and my Hide therapy ads script. Maybe your browser doesn't support that, however.
@AffyAvo
@RarelyCharlie I think it's ridiculous to need something like this, but as I can still only get the orange option I'm open to using whatever makes the site less painful.
I am sorry this has been such an ongoing frustration! I won't pretend to have knowledge of how these tests are run / decisions are made, but I do wonder if there couldn't be a way to stop it showing up for members who have been around and are clearly not interested - maybe having it no longer appear so large after a certain point or being able to click some sort of 'not interested' button and have it stop being advertised - effectively, acknowledging it's been seen and then not having to continue to see it if you don't intend to sign up. Not sure what the right answer is, but it feels like there are options that could make this a much better experience while still allowing for advertising/testing with members who haven't yet made that decision that they aren't interested!
@KrinkTheMellowUnicorn
@Anomalia - yes, we have put in place a new system where such test are only shown to new users and existing users will only get changes if they prove to be permanent and lasting.
the problem right now is that the orange button performs well and so is "winning' and has become the default, so the next idea is just to make its style much more generic for users who have been here for, say, two weeks or more.
@KrinkTheMellowUnicorn
The orange is ridiculously irritating, and I now only use the app because it's not on the app.
@BeeLeigh - good to know, thanks!
@BeeLeigh I use https://lite.7cups.com which is the app, just for avoiding them too.
@TortueDesBois
Thanks!
@KrinkTheMellowUnicorn
When 3 out of 6 forum member leaders have come out to say they find the orange button to be triggering in the medical sense of the word, I have a tough time seeing that as 'winning'. It's a small sample, but there are others who have spoken up and I do feel like some of the regular forum members have dropped off.
I hope the wellbeing of members is prioritized over making money.
@AffyAvo
agreed! Members health is more important than money. It is hardly winning when you just have complaints. You can't count all those accidental clicks as winning. If anything I doubt it's the orange. @KrinkTheMellowUnicorn do something. Do it soon. The orange hurts me physically.
Also if members decide they don't want therapy at all we should have the option to disable all therapy ads. Why piss off members with things they don't want
@HalliwellSister - actually i think a setting to hide therapy ads would be fine
we aren't measuring accidental clicks btw but overall impact. but I am listening to the feedback and we'll do something about this color so many people despise.
