I hate the new reCAPTCHA
It annoys the hell out of me.. It was nice posting things in the forums.. now its plain annoying with this stupid protection... I think I wont post things anymore...
@okeyyyy
I'm sorry it annoys you, and it shouldn't pop up every time, just every so often. I've only had it once since it was implemented into the site. It's something we need to help limit and slow down the spam that has been happening. If you are seeing it pop up too much, please report it via this link.
@Jenna Well every time I post something I get the recaptcha... also I think they should have a smart captcha that remembers the member, so if it is a member that is lets said verified, he could skip the captcha...
I can understand the frustration, It can be annoying as a long time member have to verify who you are over and over. However I think the alternate of no reCaptcha would be worst as there were always countless pages of spam. I'd stay up to the early hours of the morning, deleting over 20 spam threads. It was getting to the point where members' threads were being hidden by spam. Having to fill out the recaptcha is a small grievance for what we are avoiding. Something that might help you get it less is to make sure that you are logged into a google account as they are less likely to prompt it if you are on a google account. Also, I have noticed I only get it if I am posting very fast in the forums, so if you are a fast poster like me, I suggest talking deep calm breaths and taking your time in posting.
and I just ... had trouble posting this. lol ><
@BurningEmber Thanks a lot for your kind concerns. Yet, since I like answering to what people write in my posts, so yes, unfortunatelly I have to go trow this a lot... and ...oh well...
@okeyyyy
Yeah I feel you, it is stil not perfect @Laura @MonBon @Anonmalia Tagging these people
@BurningEmber hey Ember the captcha is generally used for login passwords to make sure it is not a system that is trying to get access to account and not for spam postings which can be manual also. If that was the case Facebook, Linkedin, Twitter everyone would have used Captcha for posting in there to avoid spams.
@BurningEmber you delete 20 spam threads a day vs me solve 20 captchas a day :P
only one of these things impacts important (ie non-devoted) users in a meaningful way at any sane & normal hour of operation.
because let's be honest, they could have a dinosaur come out of the screen and maul us a little and we'd still be here xP'
@Laura @KrinkTheMellowUnicorn @Amelia
@okeyyyy I totally get it, i carefully read a post, then reply, -it takes a good few min if the post is long - and bam. Sometimes i miss the boxes and im like "eh..let someone else do it" i understand why its there but its ironic that it leads to people getting less advice:)
I got reCAPTCHA'd on a support ticket!
If it's working properly, I don't mind it as much. But with it popping up every time it gets tiresome. Also, I've had a couple times where it's gotten stuck mid verifying, so then I've had to do my post all over again. Hopefully if it's bugs, they'll be worked out soon.
@Laura @MonBon @Anonmalia @Jenna
Not liking the new captcha at all. Its getting stuck on verifying, its cropping up a lot instead of remembering who I am, and keeps cropping up in forum threads I have posted in plenty of times. Its getting annoying. also getting confused on what I am supposed to be clicking eg signs does that include just the signs or the post as well and what if a little bit of the sign has minutely gone into another square do we click that as well? Needs improving for sure, as I had to repost several posts today when I thought it had posted what I wrote only to be told auto posting is not allowed or something like that. And yet all I did was create a daily checkin for our members who I tagged in. I just did a post where it go stuck so refreshed the page, copy and pasted a new response, and then it made me do four pages of captcha before it finally posted what I needed to post!!
@dancingRainbow45 For regular posting it is annoying. And how many verifications it does per captcha is purely whimsical from 1 to even 4 at times.
@dancingRainbow45
@Anomalia
@dancingRainbow45 it seems like "do a really crappy job of clicking on this thing" works best.
like, if it says to click on cars, only click on the ones that are *mostly* cars like if it's only 10% car? not a car. :P'
anYWAY hopefully we can do away with this horrible thing that is horrible that oh my lord i think they didn't know how horrible it'd be. :3'
but there are lot of spams,so it is required though
