Introducing: 7cupsForums Account
Hello, all!
I am excited to announce that we are launching the @7CupsForums account!
Our forum team manages site-wide forum moderation, and we want to ensure your questions and concerns about the forums are addressed promptly and effectively. By providing one aligned forum account, we aim to streamline communication with the community. In addition, forum moderation team members will rotate on the account.
This account will only be used for pms and not be tagged in the community. Please utilize the flag button or email forum@7cups.com for any concerning issues or bugs you may see in the forums.
You will be contacted by @7cupsForums for the following reasons:
To be updated on an edit that was made in your post
To be updated as to why your post was deleted + guidelines that were violated
Please DO NOT tag or PM @7cupsforums for the following reasons:
You want to report someone or something specific
You want to share confidential information
You are requesting a chat or need support
You want to ask about an application/role you're waiting on
To ask about the status of your account (rejected, if it's being reviewed, etc)
All queries will be responded to within 72 hours or less.

So basically the forum is strictly a "don't call us, we'll call you" operation? Or did I not comprehend the post correctly?
@slowdecline48
As mentioned in the post above, the forum account is only there to help communicate any post modifications or deletions to the community.
- If you are looking to report an issue or bug in the forums, please use this thread to do so.
- If you have any other questions about the forums in general or something specific, you can email forum@7cups.com or community@7cups.com can be used as well.
- I can also be contacted in private messages to share any feedback about the forums whenever needed.
There are simply numerous avenues in place to report anything forum-related the 7cups Forum Account doesn't need to be messaged for all.
@slowdecline48 Thank you for voicing this opinion, concern, viewpoint -whatever to call it. I felt a lot like this after I read the opening post too. ~Platy
@CheeryMango Thank you for your clarification. I am VERY like very often wondering who to contact in any random type situation that I wish I could contact someone about. Is there a post or page or something for "hey, go here if you have questions or need support/help from admin"???
@cyanPlatypus6370 This is probably a good post for what you're asking. https://www.7cups.com/forum/SafetyKnowledgeat7Cups_181/7CupsSafetyToolsReportFormsMore_1371/WhotoContactEmailsFormsandAdmins_278466/
@AffyAvo
Thank you Affy! That looks potentially helpful, at my 1st, fast glance. I shall bookmark it. :) Platy
@CheeryMango
Thank you for this!
Hi @CherryMango !
I received a message from 7CupsForum telling me they remove a comment I made for being “inflammatory and unsupportive.” To this day I still don’t know what they were talking about. I asked for clarification twice and heard nothing. I only mention this so that maybe an impression can be made.
❤️
@CheeryMango I notice that one of the reasons I might be contacted by 7cupsForums is: "To be updated as to why your post was deleted + guidelines that were violated". I think this is a good idea.
Since the 7cupsForums account was created, three of my posts have been deleted. Therefore I have received three messages from 7cupsForums. So far so good.
But not one of the messages from 7cupsForums explains why the post was deleted or mentions any guidelines. This does not seem so good.
If the intention is to delete posts without telling the poster why, then I think the information in this thread needs to be corrected. But if the intention is to manage deletions the way this thread describes, then I think the operation of the 7cupsForums account needs to be corrected.

@RarelyCharlie Hey Charlie! From my experience I think broadly speaking post deletions can fit into two categories:-
1) they have broken a rule or guideline and need to be removed, or
2) they are a post that responded to the post that broke the rule or guideline.
For posts in category 1, the poster is messaged and the violation is explained and a link is given to where that information can be found.
For posts in category 2, it is a brief courtesy message just to let the poster know that their post will have disappeared when the thread was removed and so they are not given any links or further information.
I would imagine yours would have fallen into category 2?
We always love feedback and constructive criticism so that we can improve the process, so does my reply make sense? How could the process be improved?

@MistyMagic Hey Misty! Yes, that's a great explanation of what seems to be happening 😁
So it now seems to me that my first guess was almost correct. The intention is to delete posts without telling the poster why (in the case of replies), and I think the information at the top of this thread needs to be corrected (because not everyone will read the discussion as far as this).
Alternatively, I think the process could be improved by keeping the information at the top of this thread as it is, and actually doing what is described there. This would mean sharing more information with those members and listeners who had done nothing wrong but who had their posts deleted anyway.
Charlie
@CheeryMango The latest notification I received does explain why the thread with my reply in it was deleted. None of the previous notifications did, so this is a welcome improvement.
However, this latest notification still doesn't explain which guidelines were violated. I thought the original plan was a good one—that we will be contacted: "To be updated as to why your post was deleted + guidelines that were violated". I am disappointed that the plan hasn't been fully implemented yet.
Worse, the reason given for deleting the thread is not one of our guidelines. I am extremely disappointed to see a thread deleted for a made-up reason that is no part of our community guidelines.
The notification goes on to give me advice about flagging posts. I think this is inappropriate. In my opinion, notifications should be used to notify, not to give advice.
For the record, I only flag a post if I think it violates a guideline and is potentially harmful. I do not flag posts for made-up reasons or because I disagree with the content. If I disagree with something in the forum, I reply in the forum and explain why I disagree.
