September 2020 Community Update! (short version!)

Hello Community!

Hope you all are well! My kids are now back in school every other day and the trees are starting to turn here. The weather is cooling and all is here. I love this season; it is a nice time to reflect on the summer and begin to think of the new year as itâll be here before we know it.

Last update a few of you indicated that it was too long (I get that!), so we are going to stick to high level points this month and moving forward. A few things Iâm excited about:

New app! - we are making A LOT of progress and will have it released in November.

Research - we are connecting with more researchers at universities and in regions. This helps us scale up innovation and impact by partnering. Look for more on this in future updates.

Quality - see Evelyneâs note for more details. We have made good progress and implemented many ideas you all helped surface. You can see that these changes have yielded some level of impact in our recent survey results.

Playlist - Iâve been collecting your recommendations and coping skills (what do you do to feel better?) and working with @SoulfullyAButterfly to map out how to invite people to help as well as build out an initial cadre of playlists. Please add to both posts to help!

Hey, all! The Leadership Development Program continues to evolve! In fact, itâs evolved so much that weâre turning it into its own track! If you are a leader interested in helping build this track up, please consider applying for a role! We currently offer two roles, the Leadership Development TA helping track the coursework and the Onboarding Mentor helping track newbie leaders and guiding them to leadership positions. We are looking to onboard for these roles ASAP! (And if youâre already enrolled in the LDP, you get the perk of being able to apply for LDP TA as part of your one role requirement to graduate).

Speaking of the LDP, we will be opening up applications to enroll in the October cohort group, starting on October 1st (keep an eye on your alerts)! You can familiarize yourself with what the LDP is and what the expectations to graduate from the program are in this subforum.

I also want to let you know about two things we will be relaunching!

7CupsCommunity account: We are bringing this account back to better address your questions and concerns in one place. Sometimes messages get lost with individuals, so weâd like to improve communication and assist the broad community better with one aligned account. @7CupsCommunity will be live again starting this weekend!

Social Soldiers: This project is a brilliant outreach initiative that allows our community to make use of social media accounts to promote 7Cups, and we are freshening it up with a rebrand and a stronger process. It will now be known as Team Lightship and we will be opening applications soon.

Weâve got some exciting new projects coming up! Stay tuned for an announcement in the next day or so.Â

We had an initial list of 25 items that were both tech changes and community changes. Weâve implemented 12 of them and will be knocking out the rest in the coming months. Please see my Works In Progress page for what has been accomplished and what we are still working on. I list everything there from questions people ask me to large scale issues. Things in the completed section have been completed in the past few months. Things in the WIP section are still ongoing.

The Translations Team project has now reached 88,918 available translations, with over 500 translators on the team! If you would like to help out in these or other languages please consider applying through this form

We are now considering external translators to help globalize 7 Cups! Do you know anyone who would like some translation experience as well as who would enjoy helping support and spread our mission? They can join the project by filling up this form.

The Content Volunteer Team is excited to keep the Expert Mental Health News and Advice section updated frequently - this opportunity will allow you to not only read write-ups from our great content team but also our expert therapists!Â

Healthy Habits extended version of Sharing Circle initiated. The goal of these sessions is to facilitate learning, developing healthy habits, and growing together as we build healthier habits in life. We want these sessions to be collaborative efforts with the help of the community, by the community and for the community. For more in detail, please check here!Â

We made some key changes in the Group Support Team Operations to ensure fast processing of group support role applications and onboarding of applicants. Also, to have a better sync as a team to provide best support to the members in the chatrooms. For more details, please check here!Â

In sub-communities news, 7 events were hosted in the month of September. On the leadership front 5 new community mentor leaders and 9 Community mentors joined the sub-community leadership Team. On the forum end, The needs reply team hosted an answerthon which was a big success, it ended up clearing our needs reply que within 3 days. We are incredibly grateful for all who took part in the hosting and participating in the event. Additionally @Sealiously joined the forum leadership team as a forum Project Agent. Moreover, 4 new forum mentors and 15 forum supporters joined the team. Lastly, we introduced a forum guideline update.Â

In the teen community, teen sharing circle team onboarded two team leads. Additionally, Discussion team leads continue to work hard to provide you with the discussions you request. @Hopedreamlove joined the teen listener leadership team. We added an update on maintaining a therapeutic group environment. Furthermore, the teen only zone sub-community team has continued to provide teens with events and posts to participate in. The teen transitioning team hosted a meeting for teens to provide feedback on what kind of support they need for aging up.Â

On the Internship front, 114 listeners joined the Internship program, 79 interns completed their Internship trials and became active interns and 25 interns successfully completed their Internship and became active interns. Additionally, the Internship team introduced an update to the Honors Project to provide more options for the interns who would like to graduate with Honors.Â
