This new version is seriously 10x better than our current version. Looking forward to hearing your feedback!
Yes, please keep an eye out for version 2.5 coming to a Play Store near you.
The short story of what's new in this version is this:
- Much faster, more stable, more responsible and reliable
- Improved community navigation including bookmarked favorite forums
- Hundreds of bugs have been sent to bug heaven
- Fast account switching
The longer story is that we rushed the 2.0 version out last year because the older app was really showing its age, but in doing so we had to cut a lot of corners and so we had a pretty big bug list and list of unfinished business tot tackle.
Along the way we found there were a lot of stability and reliability problems with the approach we took (something called "multiple page views" for the tabs, bascially), so @ezraBC went back to the drawing board and rearchitected 7 Cups as one-page app.
Along the way we finished up a lot of core stuff we had wanted all along, fixed or just did not recreate quite a few bugs, and tested this version extensively we folks from the community.
The test will be when it goes out to everyone, of course, and no doubt we will discover some interesting corner cases, problematic devices, growing pains, and so on, but I'm pretty confident that everyone will immediately see the improvement in how the app handles and what you can do with it.
(One thing you'll see is that the first time you view any tab it may take half a second to get itself together - but after that switching is lightning fast.)
Perhaps most important this is just the beginning. There are still many things on the site not in the app but the app is designed to evolve and incorporate those things.

This is great news, I used to use the app, but it was honestly so buggy I just had to stop, so I look forward to all fixes and new features.

Forgot to ask, is this update going to be for use on android tablets as well as phones? Only I find the display on a phone too small to participate in chats. Also, is there a thread or anything for 'features we'd like to see' or is that all done with reviews on the Play Store? :)

We haven't tested as much on tablets to be sure to give us feedback if anything isn't right once it's out (please).

@Aarnav - what version number do you see in the Play Store?
It can take some time to propagate but the 2.5.1 update published last night should be out to everyone by now, and a quick 2.5.2 hotfix should be coming shortly.
As a test, please also try uninstalling and reinstalling the app and tell me what you get.

The version I see is 2.1.7. Maybe it'll take more time?
@AarnavAarnav - it really ought to be there by now. we jist pushed a quick hotfix version 2.5.2 so let's see if that one pops up.
I haven't been abler to get it either. It's still turning up in the Play Store as v 2.1.7, despite multiple uninstall/reinstalls. It'll probably turn up eventually, it's just weird.

@Laura hey awesome work on putting this all together for us. I'm sure there are a number of happy chatters due to all the hard work of your team. I have an iPhone deleted the old app and reinstalled... All was well until tonite I came on and when the app opened fine but then my chats were all there but it gave me a new identity... Na? So I logged out and back in and it cleared up just FYI .....toodles. baZ
Yeehaw‼️. Does iPhone count as an Android? Lots o problems but can't wait for this.. I'm not tech savvy so I'm supposed to delete my app? Then reinstall it? Sorry to have to ask.... baZ😎
@baZzchik54 - no iPhone is the other kind but we expect that one to be approved by Apple within a day or so!
