June 2nd: Text Box on Connecting Page (Tentative this month)
In our attempt to continue to support members through the connecting process, we will be experimenting with the following feature.
As a reminder, roughly 50% of people never connect to a listener. They leave us on the connecting page. We earned some gains with inviting members to the group rooms (learn more here), but still we are losing people while they wait.
We may be some time from this, but I wanted to collect feedback & make a preliminary announcement prior to the feature being launched.
Here is how it will work (tentatively):
- Member will have a text box on their connecting page. A welcoming prompt will be provided! Something like this:
"Hello, welcome to 7 Cups of Tea! Your listener is on the way. While you wait, you can start discussing what is on your mind here. Make yourself comfortable, your listener will be right with you."
- Member writes in the text box!
- When the General Request is picked up, the content of the text box is added to the 1-1 conversation window.
- Listener arrives and jumps right in! / Starts listening
GREAT IDEA!
(Some of you may notbelieve this -- but there was a period of time when we had hundredsand hundreds of eagerlisteners andnot enough requests to keep them all busy! A request would appear on yourdashboard, and if you didn't click faster than everyone else, you lost out! You would waitand waitfor a chat request to appear andhad to JUMP on itsuper-fast if you wanted to do a chat. Yep...)
Whoa really @Annie? That's crazy! I hadn't heard that it was THAT silent. You learn something new every day!
I just thought of a snag. What happens to the text in the box if a listener takes the chat in the middle of the guest writing out their story?
Does it wipe itself or will it copy across to the message pane in the newly opened chat?

@Laura. This is a fabulous idea as I said before. I was just wondering if you know when this will be taking place. I am looking forward to this option for our members. I think it will help streamline things a lot. It is an excellent idea. When can we expect this to be in place?

You have no idea how excited I am about this.... lol. I really am. I think it is a terrific idea.
The idea is - we will launch the listener progress path & then this :)
So, no promises, but maybe late June or early July for this feature! Keep monitoring the forums for updates!
