Pathways & Privileges - Idea for you to view & Feedback requested!
The community team has long wanted to more clearly map out the pathways listeners and members can take on 7 Cups. By pathways, I am referring to the different opportunities for you all to earn more badges, apply for leadership roles, earn the next badge in a series...etc!
For the past few months, the community team has been working behind the scenes to inventory all of the roles, badges, and privileges. Today I am writing to share this idea and gather your feedback!! Here is the idea -
Clearly map out the pathways into three categories (group support, forum, chats). Each pathway has a series of badges. You can see one example of a Listener badge series below! We want to make it clear to users (should they choose to work towards the next badge) which badge/goal to work towards next.
And as part of these pathways, we will layer in some basic privileges or special features for folks once they are earned. One idea we have is to give users additional emoticons for every badge in a series they earn. We know many of you love to use emoticons to express yourself and have long wanted additional emoticons to use around the site. That said, we are open to your ideas!
Some questions for you to consider?
-----> How do you like this pathways and privileges idea?
-----> What privileges would you like to get for reaching milestones?
For example, please see the below badge series (you can learn more about the recent changes to this badge series here)
Gratitude Abound 1 - 5 published reviews
Gratitude Abound 2 - 8 published reviews
Gratitude Abound 3 - 10 published reviews
Gratitude Abound 4 - 25 published reviews
Gratitude Abound 5 - 50 published reviews
Gratitude Abound 6 - 100 published reviews
Gratitude Abound 7 - 200 published reviews
Please share your ideas and feedback! We are excited to tighten some of these existing systems and pathways up!!
@Laura Can't wait to hear what everyone thinks!
@Laura not sure what privileges il be happy with what others come up with love this announcement though
I think it will clarify seeing potential pathways that reaching a step may lead to.
I think how things are worded when doing things like this needs a bit of care. For example, I have seen the new Room Supporter role be described as what one needs to do to become a Moderator. Yes, it is one of the criteria to be a Moderator. For some though, they may just be happy being a regular in a room, supporting others, etc. without any desire to moderate in the future.
So long as any wording is avoided that suggests someone should be working to something in particular, even if they aren't interested in it, then I think this is a great idea.
Oh, also since badges are going to be sorted into a bit of an order with this, is it also possible to clean up the badges on the reputation pages? The categories aren't very clear, and similar badges aren't even grouped together. As an example:
Member Support Badges include 35+ Support, Addiction Support, Caregivers Support
Community Interaction Badges include Anxiety Support, Bipolar Support, Disability Support, etc.
Why are 2 different categories being used for these?
Some of these badges also show up on the Member Reputation badge list, even though these are all listener badges.
I'm fascinated by the whole idea, but really I'd be happy with keeping a basic level badge. It must be a lot of pressure to be a badge-heavy veteran, and always have to set an example of excellence (at least, I would feel it like that).
I remember an ex of mine gave me a large badge which said "I think you've mistaken me for someone who cares." It WAS a long long time ago, but for a while, it did set the tone.
Well... me personally, I'm happy with taking general requests every so often when I got the time, so I can be a listener to those who need one.
Tbh I don't need that whole hierarchy / levels / steps / cheers / you name it mumbo-jumbo to climb higher and higher or something. It kind of happens automatically in the background while I'm being active on here... but it's more like something that confuses me as it is already. So... me personally, I don't need another additional thing with levels and hierarchies and such.
I guess I'd pretty much not care about it just like I've never cared about the existing tokens and titles and numbers on here that identify my development.
But yeah, never mind, that's me being me I guess... like, not caring much about getting anyone's approval or to work my way up so I can improve my reputation. Nah, thanks, count me out. ;)
Well but no offense though, I guess it's just not for me.^^
@suBSea I don't think the idea is to add more badges due to this. It's just to make it more clear who does what, the order the badges proceed if looking to reach a certain goal. This can also make it easier to find the correct person to contact if there's a problem or one has a suggestion.
I appreciate tokens that inform me if I'm doing the right thing and becoming a better listener. I also feel that it's important to afford a guest or member a choice of a more seasoned listener. But even though now after becoming a verified listener and having earned some badges for my listener sash, I still feel many times I'm back to square one with a guest or member. Sometimes I just have to be there for them, even if just the right words elude me.
@Laura
I love this and feel this will be great here, I get the Milestone idea and what if for every Goal meet there is a gift from 7Cups, like Pins and coffee mugs and shirts given out to those that get higher milestone meet with the badges
And
What about rights to some actives like maybe one be a Badge pass for a free badge that a peer had worked so hard for but cant seem to passs the trainings
